The Drunken Alliance [DKAL] on The Piken Square Server is currently recruiting.
We are a friendly multi-cultural English speaking guild who specialise in PvE. Guild parties for dungeons, fractals and living story occur daily; with great Commanders organising Guild Missions and Guild Lotto every weekend. We also have a Commander for WvW, and a PvP Arena.
Join a group of friends who have been together since Guild Wars 2 launch in a Guild which welcomes old and new players who are active and seeking a place to call home.
We currently have:
o ~250 members and counting (35+ active at a time during the day)
o Fully levelled Guild upgrades
o Forums @ http://dkal.enjin.com/
o Fansite @ http://www.dkalfansite.com/ which features two non-commercial f2p fan games based on our Guild Members and Guild Wars 2, and Fan Art by Guild Members

When you check the vendor it does say it can be upgraded in the Mystic Forge (see image below), so if it can not be upgraded and you bought it to upgrade then I guess you should submit a ticket.
Back in Aug 2013 ArenaNet released statistics (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-the-first-year/) which showed 10% of the player base were Engineer Class (joint last with Mesmer).
The data is 9 months old and there may be a lot more people dabbling with Engineer but I doubt the stats are much different.
So I recently used a total makeover kit on my Asura and went with one of the exclusive hairstyles (Princess Leia buns which wrap round the ears). It looks really nice and I was happy with my choice until (something you can’t see from the preview select) you enter combat. In combat an Asura’s ears prop up and the buns deform massively.
The buns appear to be an extension of the ears and can deform in as well as out with ear movement. Anet can you please fix this, it looks silly in combat :/
The problems I keep having (though I do not know if these are bugs or not) are:
1) When near the red ground attack, I can stand just outside if I stand side on or face it. If I have my back to it I get hit;
2) Sometimes my character freezes up for a second after having picked up the light crystals;
3) Sometimes the light crystals despawn in my hand a split second after I have picked them up (it flashes the new skills then disappears right away);
4) Spontaneous death with no vision around (I would guess a vision spawned on my location but you don’t see it).
I just picked up the PC Gamer magazine (May 2014) in UK a few days ago in which at the end it says for Guild Wars 2: “Guild Wars 2 refines and improves the MMO with rolling quests and dynamic combat, and as a bonus there’s no subscription fee after purchase. Four hundred thousand concurrent players can’t be wrong.”
Not sure what their figures are based on though or how dated it is.
What game mode are we talking about here? As the role and setup of an Engineer can vary greatly between pve, pvp and wvw.
When doing solo pve and world bosses I use this build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vcAQFAUlsTptr1UxELseNiM6BpNhZGIF6lf9Rx89gA-zgBBYfAkIAJqFRjt4qIas6aYKXER1AA-e
It uses only Rifle (grenades there only for the tooltip to spike 10k dmg) so minimal hobo-sacks. If I want to max my damage then I do have to rotate Med Kit every 10sec to maintain 12 stacks of might and drop stimulant every 20sec but it is relatively simple compared to most Engineer builds.
I know most people say rifle alone sucks, but with 3400+ attack, 110%+ crit dmg and 80%+ crit chance (due to fury and trait bonuses) I am hitting for ~3k dmg per hip shot and 10k+ aoe dmg per jump shot, and that’s without the Might or using any food. ~5k dps only on auto-attack is nice, and is even better on world bosses which I can double hit (such kittenterer, Golem Mk2, Tequatl) due to rifle’s piecing shots.
Regarding racial toolbelt skills, I am a Norn and our’s suck. Outside of the elites they pretty much only give a short regen with long cast time and cooldown so not worth using (and I have tried). Armour looks good on us though cause we’re so big, so it’s easier to appreciate the detail.
Remember that this feature patch (which admittedly implements/fixes things that should have been in place from the start) ties in with the China release. Considering how fundamental some of these changes are, I would guess Anet expect to get more money from the eastern market, making EU and NA the minority customer.
What worries me the most is why it took so long for this game to hit China release while EU and NA had to put up with lots of bugs and broken experimental LS.
Maybe we were the test bed for the China release?
I wish that when someone got raised they were given 1-2 seconds of invulnerability.
There is nothing I hate more than being raised during a fight only to have mobs hit me down again before my character has even finished it’s standing up animation and loaded combat UI.
I can only see the “other builds will shine” statement ringing true in wvw or pvp.
Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if several zerkers now resent non-zerkers for this change, and if may even drive the “must be zerker” even stronger.
I doubt it’ll make a difference to the over arching attitude in pve. At the end of the day, mobs and bosses either hit to hard or have to much health to bother with defence or condition builds and their AI is the worst I have ever seen.
Mobs in pve are a dps race; its a fundamental flaw with how combat is designed; but then pve needs to be that easy for it to be appealing to the majority.
At the end of the day, its taken me a while to make each ascended piece of armour and weapon I have and they’re all on my main. I can now give my alts some love at no extra expense.
Its also really good for people who have and play multiple Lv80’s of the same Class.
If the ascended trinkets also become account bound, then I may be encouraged to experiment more with builds while keeping top end stats and not waste them if the build turns out rubbish.
I hope its about either removing restrictions on:
a) Conditions; OR
b) Targets per hit (though mainly for world bosses).
Though I suppose it could also be about removing time gating on crafted items.

Explosive rounds on rifle! I mean come on, pistols have it and can trait for piercing.
A trait to throw bombs would be nice, but would have to be short range.
Ever noticed how your turrets sometimes blow up the instant you put it down in a fight? (seems to happen to me a lot in PvE, and I’m not taking damage or seeing an attack to be responsible for taking it out). This trait sounds like the hot fix…
On a side note if the reflect bubble works for players stacked on the turret as well, this could be quite useful (unless it has a stupidly long internal CD).
By the looks of it a new lv80 zone is coming; but don’t expect it any time soon.
As China servers as supposed to get the same content at the same time as NA and EU servers following release, Anet will probably wait a few months after China release before starting LS session 2. That way, the Chinese players will have sufficient time to get used to the game mechanics, see the world and level a few characters to lv80.
Plus once LS session 2 does start, considering how slow LS session 1 was to develop I doubt we’d get the new zone within the first few instalments; and I wouldn’t be surprised if our new dragon fight isn’t for another year or when ever LS session 2 ends. No point Anet rushing things, it’ll only confuse players on the new servers.
Firstly, I am glad to hear RUM is still alive and well (Marnarina here, RUM GL 02/13 – 12/13).
Many great guilds left UW leading up to and during WvW season 1. A large percentage of RUM actually under went server transfer at that time as well and formed DKAL (The Drunken Alliance) on Piken Square.
Even back then, UW was in trouble. PvE was empty and morale was low. I saw world bosses like Shatterer fail every other spawn during peak hours, and WvW became a waste land (though I did see the return of Archy). However even now on Piken Square, PvE seems empty outside of the LS zone, and I hardly ever see queues for WvW any more.
Also if someone wants to do something, they just guest to a server who is better at that thing they want to do. Makes sense in terms of ‘efficiency’, but it kills the server spirit when people don’t work together.
We just had this happen on Piken Square main server, killed all 3 knights, no attunement pools.
We get 1 pool colour at each knight during the fight, but as each knight is defeated, their attunement at their site disappears, and their colour pool doesn’t appear at the location of other knights.
It did work perfectly fine when we did event first time following update; but it doesn’t work now.
Since Kasmeer was pricked by a thorn in the Tower, her dialogue keeps getting more and more down beat; though she was up beat for this latest scene.
The story seems to suggest to me that Scarlet isn’t actually evil, just tormented by Nightmare and that Taimi will attempt to save her. I would guess that Anet are building a strong relationship between Kasmeer and Delaqua, because Kasmeer will become mentally unstable (due to the toxin) and end up replacing Scarlet when she is freed from her torment. This would then give Delaqua (either with or without the rest of Destiny’s Edge 2) a strong reason to risk all to save her (possible arc for next LS).
That’s just me guessing though.
Additionally, when Southsun Cove was first added to GW2, I desided to make a beach piece for my main character. Sadly I got abit lazy with the underwear; but then the tattoos took forever to get right…
I have also done many other GW2 fanart sketches; but I don’t want to bombard them all here XD.
Well I have been playing GW2 since a few weeks after release, and I loved the game so much that I felt compelled to make some fan art. Well I got my sketch pad out (noticed my last sketch was dated 2007…) and got to work.
I did these back in March 2013 but have now decided to share them with the GW community. Here we have my main: Female Norn Engineer; main-alt: Female Sylvari Warrior; other alt: Female Sylvari Necromancer.
Pressing ‘6’ to equip or remove medkit does seem to trigger the runes.
However, note that the actual cooldown for the Might and Fury is currently not the 10sec displayed on the runes, its more like 15sec.
If Anet fix the cooldown on these runes so that it is 10sec in practice, then these runes could be quite useful for Engineers who already use Medkit 10 second Might rotation with Enhance Performance Trait and/or Superior Sigil of Battle
Personally I prefer using Blast Combos over HGH to stack Might on Engineers for the following reasons:
1. I find I can achieve higher stacks with less effort (though this depends on playing style);
2. I can give more stacks of might on allies and it can be easier to catch more people at a time:
2.1. 9-18 stacks on allies depending on skills (use of Thumper Turret can give 9 in a fire field but has long cooldown. Bomb Kit can combo with its self unlike Flamethrower);
2.2. Buffs from Blast Combos have a radius of 360 compared to 180-240 on elixers;
3. Without the need to spend 30 trait points in Alchemy, I can focus more on Explosives and/or Firearms to increase my DPS further. Alternatively, 30 trait points in Inventions for Elixir-infused Bombs results in some crazy survivability;
4. Use of Turret Detonations for Blast Finisher also gives some good spike damage on enemies who melee;
5. I do not need Might Runes to maintain 25 stacks of Might so again can focus more into damage or survivability.
There are however some obvious draw backs if you are using Turrets to might stack:
1. You need to stand still for 2-3 seconds while you cap out your Might;
2. You have to stop to reload Might; you cannot do it on the move like with Elixirs;
3. Allies have to be stay near you to give them Might;
4. Players may drop other Combo Fields over your Fire Field so messing up the Combo;
5. Enemies may destroy your Turrets before you can finish the Combo;
6. You do not get the other benefits Elixirs provide, but you can combo with your own Water Field or Smoke Field for other benefits besides Might.
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I find it works well with World Bosses, Dungeon Bosses and WvW Zergs.
There is actually another way to stack a lot of Might as Engineer without using HGH build. It can be done using Combos.
Set Healing Turret, Flamethrower then any of the other Turrets, Throw Mine or Rocket Boot for the remaining 2 slot skills. Use Flamethrower skill 4 to set Combo Field: Fire then use your other slot skills (or toolkit skills) to get blast finishers. With turrets, stack them first then drop fire field before detonating to get might stacks.
With Juggernaut, Fireforged Trigger and Enhance Performance Traits (and no extra boon duration) I can get to ~17 stacks of Might within a few seconds.
The good thing about getting Might from combos is also its aoe so I give allies near me 9 stacks for 20seconds as well. The limiting factor is Skill 4 on Flamethrower but with it down to 24seconds I can keep the might up near constantly. It can be done as well with bombs on skill 2 but you have to wait for the bomb to explode so can be harder to time your blast finishers.
This method means you end of being more stationary for a few seconds to get the stacks, but I find it is great for zerg situations such as pve world bosses, living story and wvw.
I also use p/p both with Sigils of Strength on a hybrid Rampager build (54% crit chance) and I get 25 stacks of Might fighting mobs solo no problem (usually settles at ~22-23 stacks).
No you beat me Mirta. Congratulations to Underworld(EU)
