Lets open a new wanted feature: Housing

Housing, although not for everyone, adds a lot of playable content for those who do enjoy it.

One would presumably have to invest time in farming the currency to purchase it, then more time to acquire various types of decor and furniture to furnish it with. Playing with furniture arrangements and changing them as the mood takes you absorbs more time still.

House furnishings might be typical drops, limited special event rewards, kill trophies, or the product of various crafting professions who now have new resources and recipes to gather and make use of.

The Halloween and Christmas events could come with extra side games or challenges to acquire seasonal decor for your home like a Christmas tree and lights, or a jack o lantern and cobwebs, etc.

Perhaps you could even hunt down holiday, dungeon and favoured map music that plays on some sort of gramophone.

Ultimately this type of content does not appeal to the entire player base but I think it’s worth it for the developers to invest a little time in it, given how much those who do like it tend to get out of it.

Even if it’s not your cup of tea, surely you still want your fellow players and the game as a whole to thrive, no?

I think some people may have lost sight of the fact that this is a game. Mounts are intended to be fun. That is their purpose.

Can we/will we ever get Fishing?

Fishing is extremely easy to create a bot for…

That’s a very defeated attitude. All it takes is a little creativity and game developers have oodles of that!

I enjoy fishing in games as well and would love to see this added to GW2.

It’s only going down, i’d uninstall while you can, it’s not worth the 24Gb on your hard drive.

dude whats wrong with you? every kitten post of yours is negative.
if you hate the game this bad, wtf are you doing playing it or posting on the forum?

I notice sometimes in game forums when some people are leaving a game, they seem to want to take as many people as they can with them. I’ve never quite figured out why.

Is it because misery loves company? Or do they want to punish the game company for letting them down by stirring up descent? Maybe they are hoping a chunk of the population will shift to their chosen destination game and help support it? It’s a mystery. But don’t worry about it. I don’t think these people ever get what they are looking for.

Ya ya All the latest changes for Gears of Battlefield Grand Theft Auto Forza 44 that came out yesterday, yada yada yada. You know I am really sick of downloading like 20GB of new video drivers every week just because every new game needs a tweak or two. Sigh. Now I have to log in to use the Nvidia Experience? Next I’ll have to LOG In to use the dang driver. Oh. Just had to log in to use this keyboard. Where does it all end? I guess when we block cookies they just make us log in so they can track us. HERE I AM Hello Track me! And 60hz everywhere makes not a whit of difference. Like I said, just happy it’s already been reported. Rant Off.

I don’t use the Geforce Experiance anymore because I also found it a bit needy and bothersome.

I suggest you uninstall it, and simply check the Nvidia website periodically to see if there are new drivers available for your card, as needed. Just make sure to select “custom install” when installing a new driver, so you can deselect the Geforce Experience component that it will no doubt try to sneak back in again.

Guild Wars 3?

Some of you guys are being pretty mean to a new player who just wanted to show his enthusiasm for your game…

It’s probably not a good idea to scare people away if you want the community to thrive and grow.

Also, while it’s true that WoW never released a WoW 2, Blizzard did however try to make a new MMORPG with a fresh IP but unfortunately they bit off more then they could chew with an overly ambitious game concept. Instead of scrapping everything however they simply harvested out the arena system and released Overwatch as a MOBA game.

As for all their expansions, some players enjoy them, in the beginning at least, but there are a lot of unhappy people who burn through the content quickly and are left scratching their heads and waiting for something new to happen.

After a certain point with a game you can still get that warm, fuzzy, nostalgia induced buzz when revisiting old content, but the appeal of new content is short lived. For this reason, some people like to dream about completely new games with new worlds to explore. Even if it’s unlikely, it’s okay to let people dream without popping that bubble for them.

Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone!

I’ve been playing around with engineer a little bit (for some reason it’s the only class I never thought to try in the past) and thus far it seems really fun. I’m also going to dust off my old necro who’s sitting pretty around 43 or thereabouts and give her a bit of a go as well to see which feels best.

Thanks again!

As a returning player who never progressed past newbie status and likewise never participated in the Halloween event, what would you recommend I look out for to make the most of it and/or not miss out on the best parts?

I love when games have special events, holidays and festivities so I’m determined not let this one pass me by!

Hello all!

I’ve been feeling a bit “on the rails” in some other games lately so I decided to come back to the beautiful world of Tyria (did I spell that right?) which I remembered to be very casual friendly toward people like myself who prefer to putter around smelling roses, exploring unbeaten paths and while certainly having their own breed of fun, not being altogether productive in a singular direction.

I have a veritable buffet of abandoned alts to chose from this time around, and I’m not looking for a “super ultra nukelator of doomination” type spec but I would like to know if anyone could suggest a class and/or spec that is generally good all around for people who like to dabble their toes in different waters, depending on the mood. Also it should be good for a lone wolf who doesn’t have any friends to play with and as such needs some measure of survivability.

And before you say “Guardian,” I already have a level 80 guardian and I’m not ready to hit the new Heart of Thorns content yet so I would prefer pretty much anything but that.

I did peek into various profession based sub forms and found virtually every single one was peppered with depressing and less than encouraging complaint threads. For example I read that rangers have too many complicated pet problems, warriors are broken with a lot of useless weapons, mesmers are virtually impossible to level and elementalists are apparently too weak for the new maps?

As someone unfamiliar with the finer points of this game I find all this information difficult to navigate, and to separate reality from, well, everything else. So any advice from you class savvy veterans (you know who you are) would be very much appreciated.

I guess in general, I don’t have to be a God. I just really don’t want to play something really sucky or frustrating.

Thanks so much for your time!

Game Updates: Traits

I don’t really understand why all the vets feel the need to speak for new players…

I played this game a little when it first launched but was busy with college and had to give it up before really getting into it. Recently however I decided to come back now that things have calmed down for me here.

As such I came here basically as a new player who has never done living stories, fractals, dungeons, WvW, cosmetic stuff, crafting or any map higher level than Gendarran Fields… but I DO remember the old trait system.

I actually don’t mind the new system at all. It’s kind of fun being able to go out hunt down those elusive points for your build and it gives you an entire extra platform of content to spend time on. I also like the little pop ups after each level gain that show what has unlocked. It breaks up the old grindy feel and makes me feel like I’m actually getting somewhere with my character finally.

I can’t speak for others on the matter and I’m sure not all the new players agree but I can speak AS a new player… I think that’s important.

Stop Unisexing Charr and Asura

Clearly, then, you didn’t get the point I am trying to get across. According to you, I’m suggesting all armor should be purely utilitarian, in which case there would only be one set of armor for each weight category. That’s not it.

Following my example, you can have cubic armors and spherical armors with pretty patterns all you want. The point is that a cubic robot can’t wear a spherical armor and vice-versa because they’re not the same shape, and the small red robot (in Guild Wars 2, the asura/charr female) is going to wear the same armor as the blue robot (in Guild Wars 2, the male characters) because they share an essential property that is the shape.

Not the color.

Lol… I guess now that I think about it, we are arguing different points to no purpose really. You are saying there is a specific reason that the asura clothing is cut that way, I’m saying I’d like to see more personality in the style of that cut. Our points don’t actually clash, not really, so there isn’t a point for us to either.

Cheers! :P

Freedom of speech yields better things than purely dignified and otherwise reserved conversation. Considering we have to pick our battles in life, I highly recommend you chose better than this one.

Edit – For the record, I too get very annoyed when people criticize your character, grasp on grammar or motives for posting instead of just debating the point you were trying to make. But its really up to them if they want to be engaged and meaningful or not. It’s there choice. Their life. Don’t worry about it. So long as they don’t break any rules or infringe on anyone’s personal rights, it’s their right!
