Returning player; help me get back into GW2?

I’ve got a level 80 Thief that I boosted through purchasing HoT, so as a result I’ve got a lot of PvE content to complete (both stories, dungeons etc). The problem I have with this game, like most MMO’s, is that I struggle to “get into” them because it feels like much of what I do is a grind. I contemplating going to craft legendarily weapons but not only does it seem like a convoluted process it also seems just like a huge time sink.

I’ve dabbled in WvWvW but zerg just bores me to tears. PvP I ain’t got a clue about as every time I attacked someone I barely did damage albeit they were able to two shot me. PvE is my main interest but it feels that once I’ve done the story, I’m stuck to the grind (unless it’s not as bad as it seems? I really want some of the gear lol).

Suggestions?

I’m Male, 23, and have played GW2 on-and-off since release. I don’t currently own Heart of Thorns but I do plan on getting it at some point.

Looking for a casual group that doesn’t mind their members being inactive on the game for periods at a time. I’m not a regular player now-a-days but it would be cool to have a bunch of people to play alongside with when I am online. The only necessity is that the group has some sort of website/forum to communicate with, as I’d like to be able to make good friends and still chat when away from the game.

So yeah, let me know if you want me.

My brother is trying to access his copy of GW2, but when he tries to login via the client it tells him he has an invalid CD key and is unable to do so.

On his account on this website, it acknowledges he has the game redeemed but instead of “Active” it says “Upgrade”. Clicking upgrade takes him to a 404 page. The game was purchased directly from here during a sale.

ANet responded with a generic “Reset your password” response which had no relevance to the issue.

Bumping this up, because I need help.

I’m really frustrated to be honest; I just took part in the Wintersday PvP snowball arena in Lions Arch, and was attacking an enemy that had run off by himself. After what seemed like an age I finally brought him down, despite him doing more damage to me (why?!); I tried three times to finish him until someone revived him and killed me in about 5 seconds flat.

I just don’t understand how everyone’s the same level, but they do like 10x more damage to me.

Hey,

Looking for a casual guild that does a bit of everything, though I play mostly PvE, but more importantly has a fun, friendly community. I can’t guarantee activity, so if your guild has a requirement to play a certain number of hours per week/month then I’m not the player for you; I play GW2 regularly, but I do on occasion have long periods of not playing the game. All my characters are below level 40, if that means anything.

Cheers.

I’ll answer the unrelated question. The armor variety starts at 80 with some variation before 80. You can get them via Order you choose, your race tiers located in your home cities, karma armor, dungeon armor, crafted armor, etc. www.gw2armor.com is a good source for armor sets.

Thanks dude.

…because I’m obviously not playing them right.

So, firstly, a bit of background info; my MMO “history” is pretty much non-existent. I played WoW for about a week, and Guild Wars 1 for about a month; Guild Wars 2 is genuinely the only MMO that I want to experience to it’s fullest.

Okay, I’ve played a little of PvP and WvWvW, and whilst I understand what I’m meant to be doing, I don’t understand the actual combat itself. To me, it appears to be just a button-mashing fest. I found a group on WvWvW not too long ago and followed them into battle; it took about 5 minutes to destroy a gate before we were met with a barrage of spell/arrow/gun fire and I promptly died. When I do come across an enemy, all I do is spam my skill keys, and even then I die with ease (and they’re still on like, 2/3’s of their health). I just don’t quite understand how I’m supposed to approach the combat in these situations since I’ve only cared about solo/PvE for so long. I know me asking for help may seem silly to a lot of you, but given how much I’ve heard about people enjoying this type of content, I was under the impression there was some sort of strategy/depth involved.

Also, somewhat unrelated question; I see people with cool-looking gear all the time, and yet I’m stuck with the tripe I’m rewarded with when questing (which is 9 times out of 10 worse than I’ve already got); do you only get more varied gear once you hit 80, or am I again just playing the game wrong?

Please help this poor MMO noob out.

Hey all,

So after a month or so break from GW2, I decided to reinstall and give it another go; I’m really surprised with how empty the game feels. I’m on Blacktide server, the status of which was “Full” last time I checked, and during a couple of hours game-play I have come across very few players. Now, admittedly some of the locations I’ve visited are low-level (Snowden Drift, Black Citadel, Divinity’s Reach), but I would’ve thought these areas would still be fairly populated. I’m probably not logging on during the right times or something, but it just seems strange. My highest level is 40+, by the way. It’s a bit of an issue since I have no one to play with and it’s difficult to do some of the more group-oriented events, plus I get bored easier.

Not really meaning for my first post on the forums to be a bit of a whine, but I was just genuinely disappointed and hoping that someone could shed some light as to why this is. I had the same problem with WoW, but that was probably owing to the fact I started playing after four expansions and several years of it being out. xD
