Ok, so I may be slow on the uptake here. However, I used to run dungeons in a pretty succession for a few reasons. Obviously money, but second was the materials. I would get about half the silk I needed for a piece of damask in a evening. the money from the dungeons would cover the other half, then i would be all happy and pat myself on the back and drink my tea with the utmost satisfaction. I’m just trying to get everyones input here. With dungeons apparently a thing of the past. Were am I supposed to get silk? I haven’t crafted much of any light ascended things since launch. I have only made it a little ways into the expansion pack, so do I need to go further?

I agree, my regular group I play with have a couple of dreamers. when they start up with the bow at the same time, I have to turn my headphones off, or the games sound off. I can’t stand it. It gives everyone that is around a headache.
psst you tell that condi ele works. :-).
I did a scepter condi build and its great for me. I use focus but i think i shall try dagger.
But its not stable. There are hard counters. Most necros kill me. Also other condi builds are hard.
And it needs at least 5 seconds to peak damage. When two other zerkers fire at something its often dead before the first auto chain is finished ….
Also the direct damage is pathetic if you stay in earth. If e.g. a warrior pops berserkers stance and can land his hits (thats the moment i wish for endless endurance) you are dead.
Its not meta, and its counterable. Its a rock/paper /scissors type of build. So its not considered meta and also called cheesy because it can destroy builds that donĀ“t expect it ;-). For me it works well in WvW roaming.
what runes do you run?
I had taveler, which i droped due to lack of damage.
I see nightmare and undead (i use that) are very good for it. Also krait can work.
In WvW I have a tendency to switch to a staff when running with a big group, or if I am defending a structure, but when in a small group or by myself, I use the sceptor and most people actually arent used to dealing with so much condition damage and it works pretty well. I use signet of Earth, signet of fire, and cleansing fire, I actually found a golem works good in wvw as well, its a good distraction. and you dont play like you want to get in there, just sit back and let the conditions do their thing, and aside from a few necros, it actually works really good. Thiefs try and stealth away alot, but I usually find a downed thief come out of stealth a few steps away.
You’re probably better off using glyph of storms in fire attunement for the extra burns than using that cantrip.
The problem with PvE dungeons and conditions, is that everything is already dead before you can pull of your entire condi rotation (which then gives you the high dps).
On my bar in the screen shot I have sigils glyphs and cantrips all rolled into one big mess lol! I was just tinkering with the numbers when I took this screen shot, it was more of a proof of concept for base attack more than anything. For the dungeons though I have run a few and I found the signets to be effective. I start with a churning Earth, it gets the conditions started nicely. I was just using the elementals to hold the boss in the screenshot so I could get a clean pic.
You do have a good point though, the “rev up” period is no good for cleaning up smaller mobs. I have found switching to duel daggers when not fighting a boss to be a effective solution for this though. So boss=sceptor, little guys=d/d hence another reason to use a dagger off hand, so the only weapon you swith is the main hand
Hi guys. I have been on a break from the game for a while, and I have been trying different builds ever since I have come back. I noticed that the condition elementalist seems to be receiving alot of hate lately. I decided to crank the condition damage and see what happens… and it works great. You bypass armor, can do it from a distance. works great in PvP, and you get lots of power as well for when you want to pull out your ice bow and destroy objects in PVE/Dungeons. I even have a 47% crit chance so I can swap out weapons for specific situations. Seeing how I am the one making a case for this I’ll present the numbers to go with it.
I use the scepter/dagger combo for this. If I am being lazy, the numbers stabilize at 300 impact damage, 2000 bleeding damage, and 1000 burning damage, EVERY 1.5 seconds. This is a MINIMUM of 3,300 damage without delay, a bare minimum so to speak. I can spike it from here to though.
Here is something to consider. A greatsword zerker warrior when stacked with might and team support, and not having to chase a some one around, not dying and running back to heal, and the planets aligning juuuuuuust right, can pull of 15,000 – 20,000 damage with his hundred blade move. Now if you take into consideration the full cycle of the hundred blades move, and the average attack speed, you get about 7 attacks in between hundred blades. If you average out the critical hit range and chance with the average damage of a fully exotic Zerk warrior you are looking at and average of about 1,300 damage a hit with a GS. Add it all up, and your average is 24,660 over 13 seconds. So a warriors DPS is 1896 (this is an average of course.)
Now remember the numbers for my condition elementalis earlier? 3,300 over 1.5. My elementalists damage, not stacked with might and no team support, from a range so it doesnt matter if the guy is moving, not getting hurt because I am away from the big boss, and the planets don’t need to align for crap. My dps is 2,200. That is 304 dps higher than a GS warrior every second, while I just let my auto attack go. If I ACTUALLY USE SKILLS I can crack the bleeding to around 3,000 and the burning to 2,000. That is a spike of 3,533 Dps.
Yes I know the staff meteor storm is great for big targets, but I can do this to ANYONE… except objects….. that’s what ice bow is for
screen shots for proof
Tried to pull a more classic wizard look out of the game, this is about as best as i could get
Most Vigil sylvari are currently in zones affected by dragons: Mt. Maelstrom, Orr and Sparkfly Fen (and they make up a lot of the Vigil NPCs there), as they are the only race that can’t come back as Risen; FGS, because they can’t come back as Frostbrood, etc. They make up a disproportionate amount of the troops there, and consequently there are less in some other Vigil-patrolled zones.
Their purpose, to a great degree, is to fight dragons and they are resistant to dragon corruption, so if ANet sticks to established lore, especially Vigil lore, you’ll always see more of them on the front lines than further into safer territory.
Re: letting villains into their territory: All of the races do this. Norn tolerate Svanir (arguably the worst since they are directly dragon worshippers), Asura tolerate Inquest (who participate in politics, too), Humans tolerate Bandits as long as they toe the line in town, and Charr even semi-tolerate Flame Legion as long as they don’t start a fight.
Ya, I stand corrected on the Vigil point, but looking at how they dont come back as risen. That just means they have no soul :p :p
My main is a Sylvari and you are racist!!!!!!!!! :P :P
Yup, when a RACE of tree people try to kill pretty well every other RACE, I don’t see any problem with disliking that RACE. :P :P :P
Yes, my point is simple. These plant people have done FAR more damage than good. Now let’s not count that a player COULD be a Sylvari, and slay the Flame Legion or something. Let’s look at what the stories, and NPCs have to offer.
Case #1 – All the races have a counter side, or rival power in their midst, with the exception of the humans. Although they do have bandits. Charr though have Flame legion, Asura have Inquest, Nord have dragonborne… oops, well you get the point. HOWEVER what do the Sylvari have? Nightmare court. Why is that so bad? let’s look at it closely. Out of all the opposing race powers, they are all violent, deviant, and have their own motives, but the Nightmare court is the only one barring the elder dragons, that have the ability to corrupt and take over the prisoners they take. They also aren’t afraid to use chemicals and poisons to kill anyone that are opposing them. In short they are the worst of the groups out there.
Case #2 Refusal to help out- Before Queensdale build the arena were Scarlet attacked. It was a giant hole. There was a Sylvari flaunting the fact that if this was a Sylvari city it would be fixed by now. Did they help? no. Take a look around in the vigil members standing around as well. You see Norn, Charr, Humans, and Asurans regularly. RARELY you see Sylvari. In the events that have come and gone over the last year. In fighting off the various threats, the Charr have taken point, the Norn have taken point, Humans
have taken point, the Asurans haven’t taken point, but are ALWAYS there offering their tech to help. Were are the Sylvari? NO WERE!!!
Case #3 Villains-Let’s talk about Scarlet for a moment. We first meet her as she is trying to push Humanity into extinction. How you ask? The Watch knights that were supposed to be a boon and protector of humanity were turned loose on the INSIDE of our last stronghold, set to kill indiscriminately right next to the leadership, so it would cause mass confusion and hopefully disrupt the chain of command. Remember, Kryta is the LAST kingdom of humanity in this game. So after humans push it out of the city and into the next world war. (for the players) Scarlet and her alliance take over Kessex Hills (Kryta Territory) and DESTROY IT!!! Note though were the Sylvari were? In the instances in the tower, there were human NPC’s Asuran NPCs, Norn NPCs, and ONE sylvari NPC. The ONLY sylvari that has ever helped. but she was on the sidelines. Blink and you miss her.
Case #4 – Lastly let’s look at who is controling the evil side of their race better. The Inquest have their main lab shut down. (crucible of eternity) Flame legion are all but destroyed. (Citadel of Flame) The Norn are Fighting a dragons force to the last breath and STILL find ways to help the Kodan. Humans are constantly fighting the bandits and Centaurs in the territory… what about the Sylvari? The Sylvari have never made and HUGE official moves against the Nightmare court. Yes the Twilight Arbor is raided, but that is the players decision. A lone wolf action. The Sylvari leadership even out right allow the Nightmare Court to wonder around the Grove.
In conclusion. I say we go and burn down the Grove and do away with this Scurge
