I wouldn’t hold your breath for a dev response. The mesmer community has tried over and over to help them improve things (which benefits them as well as us), but they just aren’t interested.
I always listened to the podcast, so will be sad to see it go. Can’t say I’m suprised however.
Sorry to see you go dude, you’ve been a great asset to the community over the years. Would have loved to be able to jump into some pvp or something with you, but couldnt join the custom arena as I’m on EU.
I was hoping for some good bug fixes coming in season 2, and feared it could be the last straw for many if they didnt. And looks like your not the only one leaving as well. Good job Anet, well done.
After reading the patch notes I closed the game client without even wanting to login. No effort to fixing any of the many “real” bugs, and didnt want to face logging in to see what they had secretly broken this time!

Well, as I said on the Mesmer forums if there weren’t any valid attempt at bug fixes in the upcoming patch I could see it being the final straw for many mesmers.
I was excited about the start of season 2. Loaded up the game client, then started reading the patch notes while the patch was downloading, then……..closed the game and didnt bother.

The bug list seems to be growing, not shrinking.
I’ve played since launch and you can let bugs slide to a certain extent, as all games have bugs at launch, especially MMOs, but the longer these bugs exist the more they begin to frustrate the players.
Most long term mesmers are always worried about upcoming patches, as its always a gamble as to what seems to get randomly broken next, usually to be left that way, or take months to be resolved.
We waited patiently for the feature patch, hoping to finally see some focus of the class bugs, but unfortunately a lot of the stuff they said would be fixed was left out, and some of the stuff they said they had fixed ended up even worse.
Now with season 2 just round the corner I think they need to be careful. If theres no bug fixes appearing in the start of season 2…… I don’t know, it could be the final straw for some.
Hope the devs realise this post is still valid, despite having “not updated anymore” in the title…..
Please can we have these looked at….?
Karl, whilst it’s always great to see devs take the time to comment in the forums, I would very much prefer to see some broken skills fixed before things like this are looked at being reworked.
Could the devs please take a look at the big mesmer bugs post in the bug forum? I think the majority would rather see some dev responses in there.
If this is really where priority for development resource is being put for mesmer….wow….just wow.

Any chance of fixing these bugs that have been around forever…?
Other classes complain about mesmer = fix within 24 hours.
Mesmers complain about many big bugs with our skills/traits = nothing. Or possibly months go by, then they make it worse. Yay.
Can we start getting this list reduced instead of adding to it please?
And don’t forget there’s a big community of mesmers all dying to help get these fixed (clarification, testing, suggestions etc), all you need to do is engage us….

I played a little with it in PvP and its kinda fun. Did get a few moans from warriors though lol

Smells like a bug they didn’t want to admit to if you ask me…. :-)
Haven’t tested the mage bit, but you can attack or use a heal while stealthed from prestige and even if you get revealed the flam burst will still happen. Same with chaos storm.
Dissapointed? No.
Why? Because I’m used to playing mesmer.
I think base crit damage is 150%, so your ferocity amount is adding the other 62%.
If you had no ferocity it would still say 150%.
It seems the feature patch has moved the following mesmer traits:
Harmonious Mantras – Dominitation XI has now moved to the Duelling trait line.
Empowering Mantras – Duelling XI has now moved to the Domination trait line.
No mention of this in the patch notes.
Is this intended? A bug? A long time bug that has now been “fixed”?
Some clarification on the change would be very much appreciated by the Mesmer community.
100% completely agree. For one thing, everything “can” be fixed, they built the game so they can change it.
Looking at the way they deal with bugs though, if its slightly complex it gets swept under the rug and hope it goes away, which is why some of these things exist since beta.
I love this game, but ignoring major bugs is seriously beginning to affect players feeling for the game.
Devs have only got to go read through the mesmer forums to see the general feeling of most of the long time players….

These days its not whats in the patch notes that worries me, its the stuff they break thats NOT in the patch notes! :p
These will probably get pushed even further down the list (if they’re even on the list, or if there even IS a list!!) what with the whole host of new bugs they’ve introduced with the patch.
Armour bugs, lots of bugged events in LA, jumping puzzle bug, inventory window bug, etc, etc.
No mesmer bug introduced this patch though (yet), so at least that’s new…..

Great, something else to add to the list.
Is it me, or do they seem more focussed on just getting stuff out the door, and less worried about making it good quality, or going back and fixing things they break?
As a developer for an enterprise scale organisation, the fact this stuff exists for so long is just shocking.

The airship pass mentions “Quick travel to all cities!” however I don’t see any portals up there.
Anyone know how this works?
I noticed another today. Trait X in Duelling does not work if you are wielding an elemental weapon – no clone is created on dodge while holding FGS.
This sounds like it could be intentional, as otherwise there would be an issue with clones spawning with the elemental weapon :-)
Sounds like it could be a classic Anet “quick fix” by just not making clones spawn at all, rather than making it work correctly, which would require additional logic…

Did anyone try traiting Warden with pHaste? (I haven’t. Idea just hit me) Maybe a broken phantasm merged with a broken phantasm trait will make a bug out to make working phantasm!

I have. It does nothing but make you sad that you wasted trait points to get a trait that doesn’t work.

Would love to see some focus shift onto fixing some long standing and major bugs rather than regular new content…at least for a while to bring the base quality level up.
Whilst all the new content is great, its a bit depressing when bugs still remain, seemingly ignored, and doesnt make me want to play it :-(

Sword #3 just kills me, it is so broken so as to be virtually unusable in pvp.
Yep. Seems to be unusable on the majority of the terrain in EotM :-(
I would love to take my focus into edge of the mists, but with the warden broken and the switfness not working correctly its just depressing.
Love the design of the maps, although whoever designed them clearly never plays a mesmer with main hand sword! I’ve yet to find a place where the sword clone will actually work! :-)
An update to acknowledge this is still being actively investigated would be greatly appreciated by the mesmer community.
Agreed. Although, now I’ve looked in the bug forums more and more, I notice there does seem to be a very high proportion of posts with no responses to. :-(
Regarding number 4 – Temporal Curtain:
I dont think this needs any complex new functionality, just to have the same logic applied as (all?) other classes swiftness skills, eg:
1. If you have switness already (from another source), it stacks
2. Can only be applied to each player once

Yep, still bugged. Seems when other classes put down an aoe swiftness, such as guardian, this stacks correctly with any existing swiftness you may have. But for some reason mesmers temporal curtain wont apply swiftness if you have any existing swiftness at all.
I heard rumors of this was done to stop players running over it several times and stacking swiftness, but this doesnt happen with other skills such as the guardians swiftness. Can this not have the same logic applied…??
Agreed. This, plus the fact that focus swiftness doesn’t stack with any other swiftness has caused me to competely give up the focus until this is fixed.
Count me in, was also thinking about this when this was announced.
Actually, this would be really cool if it allowed us all to play together. Not sure if that will happen though….

I dont really do much PvP, but mainly do dungeons, all aspects of WvW, and general PVE type stuff.

ok, so just to be clear, if I guest to another server I can still take part in guild missions?
I’m on an EU server, so that means I can only guest on other EU servers right? Never really looked into it.
Anyone know how guesting works with WvW? As in, can we all guest on the same server and join WvW together? Or can you only join WvW from your “home” server?

Prior to the June 25th patch I was running with a Phantasm/Support type build in dungeons.
I’d just started to go through and complete various dungeon paths I hadn’t done yet as this patch came out, but would like to continue doing so.
Just wondering what everyone else is running with in dungeons now, and how they’ve found things post patch?
Hey buddy, not sure if you’ll get round to reading these comments or not, but just wanted to give a big respect and thank you for all that you have done for the mesmer community.
I’ve always enjoyed playing my mesmer, but it was only until I watched your videos that I realised I hadnt quite “got it”. Everything then kinda clicked, and I understood how to get into peoples heads, never to be afraid of being outnumbered, and generally how to “mesmer” :-)
I think I speak for all when I say you’ve definately left a mark here with other mesmers (and those you’ve faced in WvW!)
So, go forth, raise a beer to your purple comrades, and good luck in your next venture, whatever that may be.
