Getting killed constantly before you hit 30 is a pretty good learning experience. You learn to go play a different game. How is having to hunt down different traits you might not even know about help a new player.

I’m a new player, and right now I have 36 trait points. After the change, assuming I’m the same level, I’ll have 2 or 3, which each count kitten . ( as “number FIVE” got turned into kitten? wtf?)

I did find myself at level 30 that I had 11 points in one line, and 4 and 5 in two more, you know what I did? I paid a silver to reset my points and built it better. Honestly they could leave the system the same and just add the minus button next to each line.

Everyone that has played a Guardian knows how useful 5 points in virtues is. Imagine instead of having that minor at 15, you don’t get it until 30?

Help me choose a server, please!

I’ve been playing for a couple weeks now, I initially joined Kaineng because I had friends on that server. Well these friends mostly enjoy solo or small 3 man questing, so they didn’t consider the WvW situation. And knowing them they purposefully chose a low population server because they don’t like to compete against other people for quest kills/pickups. (which apparently is not even an issue in this game)

I’ve not noticed a whole lot of interest in the WvW scene on Kaineng, and I’d like to use the free transfers coming up to get onto a server with more action. I know I can get my friends to transfer with me as long as it is to a free server.

If no one has any suggestions I’ll probably go with crystal desert because it sounds cool.

Minor glitch: Charr footprints are backwards

My Charr footprints are really weird in the snow, sometimes when I just start moving forward, the left print is normal but the right print is backwards. As I run the 2 footprints are backwards.

When running on all fours, the Charr also only leaves footprints for his back legs.

What species would you truly play?

Tengu, the concept art for them just presents so many options, a great choice for people who want to play a brightly colored race without having to be a flower.

Dwarves, if it is possible to find a way to reverse the ritual on some of them, and if it could be worked into the story.

Elonian in exile, not a separate race from humans, but alternate character creation options for a slightly different personal story. I want to see a revival of the true Sunspears.

I’m not too interested in ratmen or frogmen, the ones in Guild Wars don’t seem to have a very defined culture the way that Tengu and Dwarves do.

Talon Silverwing the Tengu Henchman was often in my party before the Heroes made him obsolete.

But, I know non-human races are very popular in mmos, developers need to take note. I think Neverwinter not having Dragonborn at launch was a catastrophe, they are a player’s handbook 1 race. Instead that game had 8 different types of elves! (I count halflings as short elves, because that’s what they essentially are in current DnD)

Who would win in a fight, a Charr or Norn?

in Charr

Well a Charr would probably win if it was one on one. Because Charr are slightly more Evil.

Evil will always triumph because Good is dumb.

Again, science.

In City of Villains, when you were choosing a mission, your villain would open up a newspaper to scan stories for clues about something valuable to steal or a loud mouth rival talking smack to lay a beating on.

The Heroes would use a holographic police scanner to find crimes in progress to thwart.

I always thought it was awesome, I really miss those games!

Do you miss this?

I hate trinity, thanks Anet for not putting this unfair feature in game that always make certain classes welcome in groups wile others (usually assassins) are not welcomed and cant find pt entire day for a dungeon

Meanwhile, “LF 5 Guardians”,“LF ZERKS ONLY 10K achievement points”.

This is the stupidest argument against the Trinity I’ve ever heard. People will always find qualifications required for other people to join them. ALWAYS. Don’t kid yourself that Trinity or not makes a contributive difference to this.

Class stacking will also happen in other games that do have the trinity too. There was a boss in WoW Pandaria that had a weird mechanic for melee attackers that made rogues do quad damage while hunters only do their baseline. So people would bring 10 rogues.

And remember the state of Shamans in the Burning Crusade? Shamans had hard times getting an invite as dps in dungeons because they were the one class without a crowd control ability. Everyone wanted mages and warlocks for sheep and banish. They solved the CC issue by making all the tank classes have no brainer aoe attacks for tanking. So AoE tanking became the new way to tank everywhere. So now AoE attack dps classes were the new hotness, and single target builds had to be changed, or those classes had to be given multi target attacks (Bladestorm Warriors, Flurry of Knives Rogues). And since Paladins became the absolute best at AoE, for a while people only wanted Paladins as their tanks. It went on and on…

Things will change over time if the Devs are responsive.

Why must people keep shouting expansion?

I don’t know about expansion, since I just started playing the game, but I would definitely pay for the Tengu race a la carte style.

Dervish Profession

I was in the same boat, I played the Dervish a ton in Guild Wars 1, Nightfall was the first campaign I beat and my first epic armor was elite Ancient Dervish.

I was very disappointed that the Dervish wasn’t in the game, though the reason I never picked up this game was because my pc couldn’t handle it.

So last week I finally put together a new pc and the first game I bought was Guild Wars 2. Started a Charr, my friend already had a Charr Warrior, and I wanted to wear heavy armor too while being different.

Started playing as Guardian and after a few quests, started using a greatsword. And then after using the greatsword aoe attacks in combination with the self buffs that could be activated for an effect something clicked… “Oh, that’s what they did…”

So I’ve been having fun playing my Charr Dervish all weekend.
