Please adjust the schedule, the entire reason for the leagues was a healthy competition between ALL servers, and to introduce more players into the WVW environment. I understand that Blackgate has slim chances in taking first due to our coverage gaps, and could care less about some special finisher. I just want a very healthy competition between the TOP 3 (JQ/BG/SOR) [Sorry 4, 5 ,6, and no offense, but we all know how many more players that top 3 have and how strong their coverages are]

This thread isn’t about whether or not Jade Quarry gets an easy win. It’s about the overtime that Blackgate and Sanctum of Rall have to put in to stand a chance. Blackgate is weak during Oceanic, so members of our NA guilds are staying up late to give their support. Our SEA also needs support, so our Oceanics are doing overtime. Then we have to deal with the EU, so NA guilds are getting up early. The fact is that people want their efforts to go towards something, and putting in all these extra hours is useless is Jade Quarry only needs to play overtime for 3 or 4 weeks compared to Blackgate and Sanctum of Rall who only get one week where we don’t need overtime. It’s physically draining and commanders and players alike are going to burn out with all this pressure. People want to win, its the first league, and we want a fair chance.

all the videos and such are just jim dandy, however, you all make a large assumption that everyone is in a large guild, skill and geared to the teeth on every toon, and are Godlike. I’m not. I’ve seen many people that aren’t on Maguuma. If there isn’t a karma train, most people I have seen in WvW aren’t all that skilled. Enjoy Gold if we get there. I won’t be out there getting my kitten kicked by the sheer volumes of bodies that tier one can bring. Maguuma cannot even consistently QUEUE all 4 maps, yet you all want to fight servers that have hours on hours of waiting just to get in. Have fun getting annihilated. Bye Bye.

The only thing I think most of the Maguumites that are posting here are assuming is that most Maguumites don’t care about PPT or winning. My guild isn’t large, I don’t consider myself to be any kind of good fighter, and only have one toon geared to the teeth. Regardless, I’d rather take my licks and cut my teeth in more consistently difficult situations in gold than to try and find difficult situations in silver. You can sit on the benches for the next 7 weeks, but you probably should’ve stayed on Borlis Pass.

Mag got BURN and GOAT like 3-4ish months ago from Borlis.

I haven’t seen GOAT around and isn’t BURN on FA or SBI, seems like we fought them this week.

And this helped you move up in the rankings some. Not as dramatic as we have recently. But, back in April / May, I do remember you were around 8 / 9 in the rankings, and you moved up to around what, 6 / 7?

We have been 7-8 since April.

SBI has gone from 14 to 8 since the start of Sept when leagues were announced.

This! When I came to Mags from BP with [BURN] in the early summer, Mags was ranked 7th. Maguuma would’ve needed a lot more than the roughly 50 WvW players that [GOAT] and [BURN] brought if the hope was to rise in ranks.

I think some clans started to get a taste of gold and thought it wouldn’t be as easy as they thought compared to when they were facing mid silver opponents.

I mean we already know most people on SBI don’t really have any loyalty to the server, and SBI as a community obviously doesn’t really care either. They’ve been trying for months to recall clans that originally bandwagoned off to other servers during SBI’s first major exodus. Talk about whoring yourself out for short-term PPT.

Now SBI has a bunch of clans that can’t come close to pulling their weight and are hitting a brick wall of skill in the form of FA and Mag despite their superior numbers. They’ll jump ship soon enough.

Biggest difference between Mag and SBI: If a clan leaves Mag to bandwagon onto another server we’ll tell them to stay the hell off Mag. If a clan leave SBI to bandwagon onto another server, they’ll pay for your transfer back.

Well – i never thought to say that – but I agree with you, at least in part. It is indeed the biggest difference between Mag and SBI – we care about our people. Several guilds left at the exodus, because they wanted something more and better – talking about guilds that were there at the founding of the server, people of high quality and good friends.

Guess what – we don’t hate them. At least I don’t – some others might but it’s not because we lost rank and ppt – it’s because we lost important people.

Yes – I would welcome them anytime back, even if it’s just guesting for some PvE events. They actually did that and it was tons of fun.

Maguma sees those as bandwagoners and deserters. We see them as SBI alumni, “raised and trained on SBI” – that’s from one’s signature.

I guess it’s a matter of age – when you’ll be old enough to have a family and significant people around you, you’ll understand what I mean. Meanwhile carry on, being a teenager and having extreme opinions is only natural.

Haha, I was thinking this exactly. I would not want to be known as the server that no one ever returns to, or that doesn’t welcome back former players. The only thing that shows is that a person holds grudges, or that the experience on the server was so bad – no one wants to return. I’d far rather be the opposite.. As you said, maybe that’s just what we get with our years.

As a 32 year old, I’m not quite sure what this “old enough” nonsense is supposed to mean.

Why would Maguuma want players/guilds to be on our server if their goals and needs in WvW are not what Maguuma can provide? If a guild comes to Maguuma looking for easy-mode PPT type of playing, they’re in the wrong place. If they decided to leave, it would be better for them as well as for us. We’d rather not have them back, not because of bad blood or grudges, but because our respective styles of playing would clash and wouldn’t be fun for either side. There’s nothing immature about that. There’s nothing that says “We don’t know how to love, for we are dumb teenagers that know nothing of family” in that sentiment.

We have players and guilds on our server that I’m sure would be welcome back with open arms if they ever decided to test the waters on other…wait, I’m totally doing this wrong!

Anyways, I am quite curious to see if Mag can overtake FA for 2nd place. They are really chipping at FA’s heals now. I would normally root for the underdog, in this case Mag, but it is hard to root for a server that has so many Kittens.

As far as SBI being terrible, we took that nice reset night lead, and have slowly built upon it, all the while some Mag forum posters have kept saying that we aren’t showing up.

At least FA has class.

ye you are a total ranker and you are in wvw 24/7 thats cool. now lets think about ppl who doesnt sit in wvw all day and ppl on not so strong wvw servers but still want those achievements. lets not see this from our point of view ONLY.

People who don’t sit in WvW all day have 9 other daily achievements they can get without ever having to step foot into WvW. Honestly, this daily achievement was probably not meant for them, so they have two options: Grit their teeth and grind it out, or just get over it.

As for people on not-so-strong servers, I do feel bad. But this just outlines how terribly stacked the game is in favor of the top few servers, and that it isn’t the daily achievement that’s hard, it’s the situation for the lower population servers that Anet keeps perpetuating that’s hard for them.

So wait… you say people, if given the choice between staying in tier 1 or transferring to a lower tier to help balance things out, would rather quit, but then you go on to say that if Anet removes the choice and applies a cap to the amount of players/map on tier 1 to try and balance things out, these very same people who would quit in the other scenario would be all too happy to transfer now? That makes no sense.

A better idea would be remove leagues outright, or better yet, just make 24 leagues. Everyone’s a winner!

Sure, there will always be those people, for better or worse. Every game has them.

On the flip side, a lot of the complaints coming from a large portion of the WvW crowd are not necessarily of the “I know better” mentality. They’re more of the “I’d love to play your game Anet, but you’re making it more unplayable every two weeks” mentality.

Rewards in Anet’s world are usually a mini, a skin, and/or a finisher. If that doesn’t make your server want to tank to 17th to dominate the Bronze League, I don’t know what will @@

I don’t think making it more grindy to get is a good thing.

The commander tag lacks practical functionality within WvW for it to be a really useful tool for those experienced enough to have it. That needs to be addressed before we go tying the ability to get the tag to rank (which would only be a nice boon if WvW ranks were account bound).

You don’t need special powers to know who the legit commanders are and who the people are who had 100g to blow.

Niim’s point was you’re taking it too seriously by coming to the forums to whine about a guy who takes it too seriously.

I actually wouldn’t worry about you guys getting “broken” morale-wise if you do go into Gold.

However, you are going to have a very humbling reality check on where you really stand if you do. You are going to find how far your NA really is from T1 quality and quantity.

You are going to get rolled by any T1 server and the sooner you realize it the better off you’ll be and you can make the best of it.

Humbling reality check? Please, we’re not kittening idiots. We know exactly where we stand. We know that when we get into gold, we’re going to get our kitten kicked in as far as PPT is concerned, but we’ll make the best of it knowing there are more fights to be had for us in Gold than in Silver. There’s no “the sooner you realize this.”

Idk, I think Mag is a good choice. We’ve performed extremely consistently in WvW over the past 6 months and our community is very solid. The only thing we lack is SEA/Oceanic.

Also, there isn’t a real compelling reason to join. “Maguuma, kings of the NA only servers” doesn’t really grab attention.

I’m trying to figure out why this matters? So what? The guild and I left Brolis because of crap like this. If the server only wants to follow 2 commanders, fine by me. When the masses start to leave because we aren’t really putting up the numbers that I know maguuma can just because over 80% are fairweathers that can’t fight in small groups or are less skilled than me (which is a chore), don’t complain when everyone says mags is the new Anvil Rock.

All I did was put out my frustration because, last I checked, the home map should be priority and unless the train is taking it back, no one wants to help take it back. If you all like SoS taking over and upgrading, more power to ya.

Borlis Pass never became the new Anvil Rock, like many of us who left that server for Maguuma thought would happen due to “crap like this.”

I’m disappointed, but I don’t disrespect them. Making a game is hard. Making a game and maintaining it as well as ANet does is even harder. I love this game with all its ups and downs… I just would prefer not to be thought into believing one thing, and getting something completely different. Or in the very least, not being told WHY it has to be a certain way, and WHY it isn’t another way (at least in this case).

I was in the game development business for a brief time, and I agree, making a game and trying to constantly push out top-notch content that will be complained about regardless of how great it actually is is really hard. However, clearly communicating upcoming changes is not hard at all.

While I understand the frustrations of all the people here who had their hopes up, rightfully so, about the opportunity to respec and shift their gear around, the real morale-crusher is that Anet’s in the wrong no matter what their side of the story is. If it turns out that the MF gear behaving the way it did upon patch release was intended all along, then there’s severe disorganization within Anet, and a clear lack of oversight in what information gets passed along to us if several members of the team could feed us wrong information and nobody stepped in to correct them. If it turns out that what we were originally told was actually what was supposed to go in, but it was changed at the 11th hour, then it’s a slight to the playerbase even if it was changed for all the right reasons. It’s inexcusable, really.

So when JQ loses, it’s a coverage thing. When they win, it’s tactics.

People who are saying “Achievements are also optional, lol” are missing the point. Yes, they are indeed optional, and they should be treated as such…

…unless they are required to be able to farm a rare recource (and don’t give me that you can get 100s each day from literally everywhere, in less than a month you’ll only be able to have 3 swings of Quartz a day and that’s it – and you need the meta achievement or you’ll have to pray that the gods of the market favour you). When you link those 2 then you also need to make sure you can get those achievements by (at least for the most part) playing the mode of game that corresponds to farming recources, ie pve, dungeons etc. Not JPs of all things!. And no, you can’t get the meta achievement without jumping puzzles – unless you don’t consider winning Sanctum sprint, or getting 40 crystals, googles etc jumping puzzles.

PS. To the person that said that GW2 is an “Action MMO”… are you serious?

Farming the resource is optional too. There is nothing about Bazaar of the Four Winds that is required, absolutely nothing. The game does not become unplayable to any extent should you not manage to get the home-instance quartz node prior to the end of this living story

In response to his question, I was simply informing KStudios that, particularly in the case of Aeros, so much of the hate Ehmry Bay once received from BP is now directed at [BURN] ever since your server’s chance of facing Maguuma went from near-impossible to unlikely-but-very-possible.

I have spent a sleepless night to see what SoS is like when they are Zergballing and what I saw was hardly impressive. If you guys were not awake when everyone else is asleep, you would be on Par with Henge of Denravi. Maybe Henge is a underestimate. Perhaps Darkhaven? I can say this with all seriousness. Coming up the ranks, we’ve had the privlidge of fighting numerous servers. SoS is a tier 6, maybe bottom ranking tier 5 server ,skill wise and number wise. The only thing is their numbers hit when North America is asleep.

And so, thanks to Glicko, you will be able to suck points off better servers (like Ehmry Bay) because you can night cap all their keeps and hold them for a couple hours until they wake up and monkey stomp you. But the Glicko still awards you those ranking points. Until you run into Dragonbrand anyway, and get curb stomped back down into Tier 3 or 4 to repeat the process. Beware though, thanks to Glicko, odds are good you are going to hit Darkhaven and SBI at the same time.

After that the glicko works in reverse. Note how BP has gained nearly 40 points off of you. All your points have been vampired from Ehmry this match. Against Darkhaven and SBI, all they have to do is maintain a pulse and you will lose points. However I know both are reasonably competent, so they will fight so long as they don’t get demoralized. As such, you are going to lose a ton of ranking points will be straight down to tier 5, to spend the next 4 weeks crawling back up. Call me the prophet.

Achievements

A new Dragon Bash category has been added for achievements involving the Dragon Bash festivities.
The Dragon Bash Experience meta-achievement will reward a set of Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings back item skin for players who have completed 10 out of the 14 total Dragon Bash achievements (Case Closed not included).
Fourteen new Dragon Bash festival achievements have been added. Please note that The Big Boom in the Big City, Case Closed, the Ceremony and Acrimony achievement line, and Burn Down The Dragons cannot be completed until additional Dragon Bash content is unlocked at a later time.

The Case Closed achievement doesn’t count towards the meta. The achievements that count towards Case Closed, however, do count toward the meta too.
