Highly disappointed by the end of F&F

Very disappointing. The only enjoyable content from the flame & frost was the dungeon. The rest was very boring and doable in 30 mins.

Anet, you need to stop concentrating on the story as much and give us actual gameplay content. You have an MMO community to keep entertained, not a book/movie club.

Why are these personal stories so hard?

I really would like to be able to solo my personal story more but in some cases after dying several times, I end up asking for help. I really hate to ask other folks help me do a small instance for my story.

Currently I have the last personal story “Romke’s Final Voyage” ::SPOILER:: where I have to find a map to locate the source of Orr.

I can’t solo this one. No one wants to help either. I have asked a few folks and no one wants to do this. Most of them have done it before and refuse to repeat it for any reason.

Why is this thing so hard?

No one wants to help because they are completely doable solo. Just keep practicing with your character. Gear him up from the trading post if you need to.

Which class of two to 80?

Hi all,

I’m having trouble deciding which of these two classes to take to 80. I have a Ranger at 73 and a Thief at 54.

I like them both equally, but I know it would be really rough to try to flip-flop between them and it would be better to settle on one for a while until I get it geared up.

Which of the two would you think would be better to finish? Any and all pro, cons, opinions on both would be greatly appreciated.

It all depends on you really. What class do YOU prefer? Ranger doesn’t have as many builds as other classes and can get a bit boring.

A ranger was my first character I made. He is level 80 but I haven’t got round to getting exotics for him yet. I now main a level 80 elementalist, fully geared.

Keeping armor current?

Im lvl 14 and been stuck with lvl 10 armor. Ive done plenty of grinding in various areas around lvl 14&15 but never armor drops. So i just went and bought some lvl 15 armor off the bltc. Cost alot… so that brings me to my question… ^^^

Also second question where the heck is the audio log collector closest to hoelbrek!!!

Gear is not overly important when leveling up. I suggest you visit the trading post every 5-10 levels and get gear that you can wear (blue items).

Once you hit 80, grab a set of Masterwork (green) items and then start heading for exotics (from either Karma or dungeon tokens).

I wonder… do developers participate in open world boss encounters like the Shatterer/Tequatl? Do they find it fun, spamming autoattack? If so, I would be really sad.

Wouldn’t it be cool if F&F – the finale – brings a new worldboss which is pretty difficult to defeat – Fireelemental-Beta-style? Permanent of course.

But even so, if the finale does bring a new boss that is difficult to defeat, with the current rewards it wouldn’t even be worth it.

The rewards at the moment, reflect the difficulty. That’s the problem.

There are a lot of flaws in the day-to-day gameplay of the standard player of Guild Wars, once you hit 80. The best part of Guild Wars 2 is leveling up, getting better gear and progressing in your story as you go along. It was interesting and great fun.

But leveling an alt nowadays is boring, due to the fact I know exactly what to expect when level 80, and it’s not fun.

Things most people do at level 80:
Complete dailies (Not much of an issue)
Run Dungeons (Dungeons are good, but get very tiresome with the lack of rewards, and people know exactly what to expect in terms of loots from each run. There is not variety)
Run Fractals (Same problem as dungeons)
WvW (Good fun for a while, but again, lack of rewards)
Guild Missions (Grind for tokens again. I think I’ve done this before?)
Map completion (Probably the only good thing)
Kill dragons (Why? Or boring rares just to salvage? I know exactly what rewards im going to get. No variety. No “WOW LOOK WHAT I GOT”. Oh and it’s a spam 1 lag fest)

Probably a few more things, but I think you get the picture. A lot of it is boring, tedious and mundane.

I think it’s nice to see the game growing organically monthly rather than exploding every 4 months. In hindsight we’ll be able to appreciate just how much content we got in a year’s time.

I don’t think I’ll be able to appreciate it in a years time when I can’t even appreciate it now.

I love the game, but I get burnt out so easily. There isn’t much to strive for once I got full exotics. Ascended gear is an option, but it is a big grind to get the gear. It’s not fun to run fractals, guild missions and dailies all the time.

To make money as well is very boring. Either doing the TP or running CoF1 is not my idea of fun.

I always thought world bosses like the dragons would be fun too. Everyone helping everyone. But all it has become is a press 1 spam fest. I could shut my eyes and have a rest while I take down a dragon, just as long as I continue to press 1. Not my idea of fun. Even the loot is boring. All I expect from a dragon is a rare which I salvage, no matter what item is it. Hunting for rares seems to be end game, and quite frankly it is a bit ridiculous.

A sneak peak of text has been added to the game releases page, unveiling the Flame & Frost: Retribution update.

Is it just me, or is anyone else just not getting excited by any of the updates any more? They all just seem to lack something to excite me any more. Normally with MMOs, an update is something I cannot wait for.

Flame & Frost: The Razing was a huge disappointment for me. I completed the instanced story zones within 30-45mins and when I finished, all that came out of my mouth was “what the hell was that?”. It was extremely boring. Guild Wars 2 prides itself on its story telling but it doesn’t even do that well enough to make me complete the story on my main character. SWTOR did it better, with interactive conversations.

Laurels was the last update that got my excited. To see a new currency, to get some ascended gear, it was great. It gave dailies a bit more of a purpose. But that has got stale very quickly.

There is not enough progression in this game too keep me coming back. The updates (although frequent), I can normally complete within a day, unless I want to grind out achievements, but I don’t care for that as there is no other reward than just ‘achievement points’.

Guild Wars 2 is trying to break the MMO mould, and to be honest I think they have done a fantastic job with the game. I have put in 250+ hours into a game that cost me £45 and I am happy with that.

But due to this being an MMO, longevity is key. I feel there is not enough progression in this game to keep it going. Logging in once a day just to complete my daily isn’t progression!

Hi guys. I currently have full AC armor with the runes provided, but I feel as though I could have better ones.

Can anyone recommend any (good ones for PvE and dungeon running)

Thanks.

My biggest concern is that there are not enough rewards in this game. Essentially it has become a dungeon crawler to get ‘better’ gear to complete the same dungeons that we could already complete with lesser gear.

Also it has a huge cosmetic side. Crawl dungeons for tokens, to buy gear, to transmute into a new look. There is no sense of “Yes I just beat a boss and hoping for a good drop!”.

When I run a dungeon, I know exactly what I am getting every time. And to be frank, it’s boring.

Linking all servers together for PvE

I had a little thought this morning to help the current ‘empty world’ problem Guild Wars is having. At the moment Guild Wars has this huge, vast world and with very many players, yet in PvE, leveling up the world seems empty. The leveling process now from 1-80 feels very much like a single player game, where as on launch day and a couple weeks after, the game was alive with activity!

That is what made the PvE fun! Loads of players all contributing to dynamic events.

My suggestion is to merge all servers together (obviously US with US servers and EU with EU servers) for PvE, so players constantly have people to play with while leveling up. Playing with other players IS Guild Wars 2 and currently I feel the game has already walked away from this.

When moving to a new area a window will pop up asking which sub-server you would like to join for that specific area. Each sub-server will indicate how full it is, and only new sub-servers will become available once the others are full enough.

Guilds and friends can communicate before hand as to which sub-server to join in order to play with each other in a specific area. If a sub-server you are moving to is completely FULL, then you enter a waiting list to join (just like WvWvW)

PvP would not change, You would still only be able to play WvWvW with your specific server you chose from the start.

Same with guilds. You can only join Guilds that originate from YOUR server.

I think this would greatly help the PvE aspect of this game and put some life back into it!

I’d like to hear your thoughts on this.

Yes I find it VERY strange how they decided to make end game a lot about dungeons. They are very boring I must say. WoW did have better dungeons due to loot.

Whenever I do a dungeon I know exactly what I’m going in for and what I will come out with. BORING.

L80 to me is just a grind fest of dungeons. If I wanted to always play with 5 people, I would have played Diablo3

I do like dungeons, but I don’t care for grinding dungeons all day long for tokens. I initially played this game to experience the open free world and tag along with people to complete these ‘huge’ dynamic events.

Sadly this game has become a dungeon brawler (apart from the PvP aspect). I was crazy about this game before because they had hyped up how great the world was and how good dynamic events were. But to me, they are not hard enough and people just skip past them.

I want to see a world that is destroyed, unless people help out the towns folk etc. I want to be able to take back areas of the world map that hordes of mobs have taken over.

I have leveled a Ranger up to 80 but decided to roll a new character, an Elementalist. I am having a lot more fun with this profession and so my aim to get to 80 and make him my main character.

I recently hit level 38 and going through all the heart quests etc. But by each passing day I feel as though the MMO aspect of this game is fizzling out. Rarely do I get a chance to do these dynamic events with actual real life players. For the majority I do all events by myself and I have to leave the [group events] well alone as no one will come help with them on the map. I understand people want to level up to 80 as quick as possible now but levels 1-79 are pretty much a single player game.

The only time I ever ‘play’ with other players is in a small 5 man dungeon. Now to me that is not an MMO.

Is it a case of there are too little players on servers to fill up the maps?
or
Are the dynamic events just not worth it when you could be grinding through all those heart quests?

Leveling through 1-80 is getting very stale as after 30 there isn’t much change in my character. Yes I get traits and extra skills. But for the most part, I have chosen the best skills for PvE already. There is no need to alternate.

Loot is very boring also. There is certainly no item I have got below level 80 which has made me step back and go “Wow” and make me feel like a kitten. I can simply go to the Auction House and by my levels gear which is as cheap as chips.

I’d like to hear other peoples thoughts on this.

Over the past few days I have been playing Guild Wars 2 and casting skills has a slight delay no them. I am not sure why. My internet connection isn’t the problem. I can play any other game I own online without any problem. But recently Guild Wars 2 has been very laggy for me.

As far as I know I cannot check my ping in Guild Wars 2 which is a problem.

Has anyone else had these problems?
