I was looking through the weapons in GW2 and I started to wonder, which is the best looking one?
There are the legendaries, of course, but somehow, I still like the Greatsaw the most.
And, the best thing about the Greatsaw is that, unlike most of the other event weapons, you can still buy one today from the tp.
So, fellow players, which do you think is the best looking weapon? Screenshots encouraged.
It’s incredible how people find fault in every single thing.
Nevertheless, ANet, thank you so much. I know this has been very difficult to achieve and I am very thankful. Keep up the great job!
As to the others, this only changes network culling and adds options for everyone of you to control the graphic culling so it suits your machine. This means, that if it ran before, it will run after.
And yes, this is the end of culling, NETWORK culling. Nobody said that this will allow you to see a million characters on the screen, just that a million characters will be reported to your machine. If you want to also be able to see a million characters, buy a better PC.
Yes, I said “buy a better PC”. Some of you might shake your heads so violently at this statement that you’ll get dizzy. The thing is that this is not console-realm. There are no 7-year life cycles. No, this is a PC game and we are PC gamers. And the burden of bearing this fabulous title is that you have to throw money and AMD and Intel and Nvidia every 2 years. This is the reality, deal with it.
Oh and one last thing, some people say that before the January patch there was no culling in PvE. Well, this is not true. You just did not notice the culling in PvE until then. So no, Anet did not make PvE worse, they just made WvW better.
I was thinning of this as well. However the economical dilemmas don’t bother me as much as the impact these things probably have on the game engine and the learning curve.
Let me start with the technical aspect. More stuff equals more complex code and more dependencies between architectural elements. Each new ganeplay elements (e.g. currency) brings with it a series of rules and dependencies. A simple example is “a character can earn World XP. World XP can only be earned while in WvW.”. Now if something changes to the definition of WvW, for example a new area pops up, the code for World XP needs to be adjusted. Ok, this might not be the best example but you should get the idea. The thing is that if Anet continues adding completely new gameplay elements every month, then, within a few years, the game engine should be a maze of rules, conditions and exceptions, each one waiting for a mistake by an unlucky programmer to trigger a massive domino effect. I’m sure the Anet coders are very good and that they are aware of this issue and are probably using a gazillion of tools to monitor the evolution of the source code, but still, I have a feeling that one-purpose gameplay elements are not the best option from a long term perspective.
Now in terms of the learning curve, as the OP mentioned, having 10 different currencies will be very confusing for any newbie or for anyone who does not monitor the devblogs like a maniac. I mean let us look at the new World XP coming out in March. Basically, when you do something in WvW, you will earn xp and world xp. If both of these are displayed on the gui, best case, people will ignore it. Worst case, they will experience sensory overload (or the equivalent for information).
The reason why I’m writing this wall of text is because I care. I want to still play the game in 3 years from now and I’m afraid that the road chosen by Anet might lead to a dead end.
Anyone know if the damage reduction of Frost Aura also stacks with protection boons??
theoretically it should as they are 2 different buffs (2 different icons).
The new design is really awesome. I love it!
I get that some people are variety averse and that when they go to the supermarket they always buy the same type of cornflakes and the same brand of beer but let’s just forget that this a change and admit that the new design is a huge improvement over the old one.
Both the sigil of battle and energy have 9 sec cooldown. Also “a single cooldown is shared by all sigils. While the cooldown is active, no other sigil with a cooldown can have any effect.”
I am truly perplexed at the reaction of some people.
Are you guys really complaining about getting new stuff every month for free? Do you really don’t get it that they are throwing with content at us for free? Are you really saying I’m gonna stop playing their game because they added too much stuff and I want to prove how manly I am on the forums ?
Even if they do add a gear treadmill (which they don’t), even if they do add new item tiers on a regular base (which they will NOT do, stop reading between the bloody lines … “oh noes, why did they say 3 months? why not 4? is 3 a secret code for ‘mwuahahahaha’?”), they are still the best MMO company in my eyes. Because they kept the most important promise: Unparalleled content release rate which we don’t even have to pay for.
Am I also the only one who vaguely remembers the gazillion other trolls on the forum posting that there is nothing to do at lvl 80? I am quite positive that some them are also complaining here.
The tooltip is correct.
That’s the damage you are putting out. However, it isn’t the final damage as enemy’s armor, buffs and other modifiers also come in to play.
For example, 500 damage on a mob with 100 armor will be different then on a mob with 200 armor. The exact way damage in calculated is not yet understood fully, however you can read more about it here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage
Great nerfs unnecessary things and introduce new major bugs …….
Earth’s Embrace : start at around 25-30% HP insted of 50%
Final Shielding: start at 10% instead of 25%proofs (HP is about 14.500)
Both shoots taken one after the other (oppnent is a MOA and tested it many times….):

It triggered at 900 out of 14.800 HP but the cnatrip grant regen trait healed me back of 200 …..

Exactly same thing:

After a couple ticks healing due to cantrip

i m officially kitten off….
Yup noticed this as well. Don’t know if this was always like this or if they just nerfed us in the last patch. Because the difference between 25% and 10% is huge, drastically reducing survivability.
Please tell me this is a bug and not a ninja nerf. PLEASE!
P.S. @OP, the links to the pics for the Final Shielding bug are wrong. Should be …gw049 and …gw050
