Have you heard of Zeus in Dota? Yeah, that’s the character who’s ulti made a map wide damage. Needless to say with proper voip it killed half the enemy team in a teamfight. You couldn’t run from this skill or block it. Talking about of one trick ponnies

By all means, go checkout LoL and see if they only have autoattack as you assume.

Although you can argue whether moa is too strong or not on its own, that really isn’t the point of this thread. In Dota, Zeus using his ult means there won’t be another ult for quite some time (unless he got a refresher, but that means he farmed it and it also shows why you can’t compare GW2 to Dota). A mesmer whiffing his moa is a mesmer who can use it again right away or wait for the cooldown of his F5 shatter. Big impact skills should have a very long cooldowns, that is pretty basic stuff.

Additionally they got a pretty long passive taunt (notice a pattern here?) on a too short cooldown. And of course passive stability (Active Combatâ„¢) every time you dodge which is absolutely senseless as it allows for zero actual counterplay against CC.

With the amount of CC in this current meta 2 stacks of stability is paper.

Hell, even pulsing stability is paper. Everybody seems to be interrupting shrouded reaper.

Btw, stacking might by just swinging your AA in shroud without actually hitting something is pretty broken mechanic if you ask me. Even warrior didn’t stack might like that back in ROMpage days.

1. CC in general is something that needs a look at. There is too much of it, I don’t disagree with that, but giving classes pulsing and passive stability is definitely not the way to fix it. That way you just nerf the actually big CC abilities, such as warrior’s Backbreaker or guardian’s Ring of Warding. Hitting a long cooldown skill, with obvious animations, shouldn’t be negated by the enemy being lucky with having stability up. Both Dragonhunter and Druid could receive a reduction in CC, though. Also Slickshoes…

2. Another class being broken and having too passive play, doesn’t excuse revenant.

smite condition: No. SC is not part of the power creep and has been something we’ve had to deal with since forever.

Despite not “being part of the power creep”, this skill is still a big problem and is one of the things which makes fighting a guardian so unforgiving when you are playing glass yourself.

Greatsword: projectile speed on gs 5 would be very nice. It’s about time imo, this skill has fallen behind compared to many other ccs out there. Ms increase to GS2 isn’t necessary though.

Greatsword is an awful weapon as it stands. Unless you can lock down someone for plenty of seconds, people can almost just run away to prevent damage even when they are out of endurance. The symbol is unreliable, and most skills are on a too long cooldown. The autos are acceptable, but nothing spectacular. Greatsword really needs a buff to a couple of things. Quality of life buffs wouldn’t touch Anet’s precious PvE balance (ha) either.

Lets not forget that our torch offhand needs love too.

Torch is terrible on multiple levels. It would need a complete rework to be remotely useful. If you have any ideas, feel free to post them.

Longbow: Trueshot is essentially on 5s cd. It takes 3/4 s to cast it, plus we don’t use this ability on clockworks (at least not in a pvp scenario). If anything, trueshot should have 5s cd, but no more; 6 would ruin its dps in pve. Also, trueshot shouldn’t be nerfed unless Rev hammer 2 gets nerfed as well as that ability is far more problematic and powerful while still having only 4s cd.

I don’t think CoR is more powerful despite True Shot being a projectile. In fact I find True Shot significantly better. But by all means, nerf revenant hammer too, although that wasn’t really what this thread was about.

Also, I think spear of justice (throw) should only be blockable if we either maintain daze on trap, or get Heavy Light proccing only on LB3.

Removing too much CC wouldn’t be a good thing either, I agree with you there. If the passive knockback is removed, we would almost certainly need it on Deflecting Shot instead. However, the spear CC is annoying to say the least. It is almost instant cast and unblockable.

Some thoughts on DPS guard/DH

Good day from a long time guardian player and dragonhunter fanboy. I decided I wanted to put out some of my thoughts on dragonhunter/DPS guardians in an sPvP context, so here goes.

  • Dragonhunter is a class capable of high burst, high CC and moderate DPS in a sturdy body. What it lacks is mainly mobility out of combat. This is not something that needs fixing, it is what the class is. I know “everyone” wants 25 % movement speed modifier somewhere, but one of the greatest mistakes Anet have been doing when balancing their game is attempting to give everyone everything instead of playing to each class’ strengths and weaknesses.
  • That said, I think the class still got too much CC. They promised a reduction to guardian CC last balance patch, and all they did was halve the daze duration when someone walks into your trap. This did not achieve much IMO.
  • The class got its fair share of passives and instant cast skills which is not good for the game as a whole.
  • Guardian weapons are some of the worst, if not the worst overall in the game.

So with that done here are some of the changes I’d like to see:

Weapons and utilities:

Sword: The autoattack can be reflected which is laughable in itself for a melee weapon. On top of that the actual attack is weak even if it hits. It got average damage for a melee auto, but nothing more. There are no special effects, such as boons, conditions, boon strip or whatever, with the exception of passive F1 proc once every full chain. My proposed change would simply be to create the last attack into firing 3 small cones similar to staff autos. They would have a little longer reach than a normal melee weapon, but with a slightly narrower impact. The other 2 skills are fine.

Focus: Not a bad offhand, although the power creep has sort of caught up with it. Hitting a shield of wrath feels a bit anticlimatic now that you can put out backstab damage from 1200 range with True Shot. Either way, my problem with this weapon is the other ability. Having a cleanse which is so hard to hit is not a good thing, and I don’t think it deals enough damage for anyone to defend keeping it as it is. I’d like to see this be an instant cast or short cast time cleanse which applies 2-3s of regeneration, blinds nearby foes and cleanses 1 condition for you and allies around you OR 2 conditions for yourself.

Greatsword: Whirling Wrath can now be used without movement speed penalty and Binding Blades projectile velocity increased. The weapon doesn’t deal a huge amount of damage, and the might you gain for finishing an auto chain is a bit depressing, but I think the weapon would gain the most from these quality of life improvements. In addition I think reducing the cooldown on the symbol to 16s would be fair.

Longbow: A pretty good weapon wouldn’t you say? Maybe a bit too good, so I’d like to see a longer cooldown on True Shot, up to 6s. In addition, the 5th skill is a bit poorly telegraphed. It is potentially problematic in teamfights where all the walls will eat up stability like mad, but it is also a very situational skill.

Smite Condition: The blight of glass builds since the dawn of time. Well, almost. I would like to see this get an animation in the form of a building glow on the guardian. After .5-.75s it goes off like it did before. Still keep it instant cast and it could cleanse conditions and give boons/heal the moment you use the skill and not when it actually goes off. Instant casts may not be a problem, but instant casts that takes 5k health from a class is.

Virtues: Reduce cooldowns of all base virtues (non-DH) and increase the AoE to 900. I wanted this post to be about DPS guardian/DH, but this is such an important change imo. Anet said themselves elite specs should be sidegrades, but that can now be deemed a giant lie. Every single elite spec adds decent traits, skills and weapons easily able to compete with or beat the core specs, and then they just add a boost to whatever core mechanic the class got. And Dragonhunter is imo the absolute worst at this, as the upgraded virtues would be a boost even for a bunker guardian.

Spear Of Virtue: Either make blockable or add a small delay to hitting someone before you can pull them in.

Traits:

Glacial Heart: I would want this back to Valor, as I think this is the only change needed for hammer. Right now it competes with one of the most important traits for guardian. However, the passive frozen burst should be changed. Instead of on crit, make it proc 100 % of the time when you hit Mighty Blow. Non-crittable, but increase the base damage so it can be potentially used for a more offensive bunker build with clerics amulet.

Piercing Light: Remove daze completely. Add cripple instead, or a little swiftness for the guardian. This would not affect a guardian’s out of combat-mobility, but would still be nice for fights.

Heavy Light: Removed passive knockback and stability from this trait completely. This is part of some of the dumbest changes since HoT, namely handing out too much CC and stability. Stability should be something you have control over, or be given to ensure someone is able to fully channel a skill. Scrapper’s stability on successful evade, Reaper’s pulsing stability in shroud and Revenant’s stability on dodge should all be nuked from orbit for the same reasons. Instead this trait could add knocback to Deflecting Shot, 1-2s immobilize to successful hit with True Shot and/or reducing longbow cooldowns.

And that is basically that. I am aware that these changes basically invalidates certain traits, but I am not sure what I would like these to do instead. Feel free to add your own thoughts.

Leagues should be SoloQ

A solo queue where higher MMR equals higher placement in the leagues would properly reward players based on individual skill. This should also not be a foreign concept, as it is being done in other games. Anet are talking about iterative work on their leagues, but the current system is inherently flawed because there is a mindblowingly simple way to fix it.

Not to mention, soloq is something that for ages has been asked for. You can still have the achievements there to reward people with fancy skins and whatnot, but as long as we have the current system, I don’t think we can ever determine anything useful from these leaderboards, which I would think is what a league should be about.

Don’t buy a gaming branded headset. Actually don’t buy a headset at all. Instead you should be opting for a pair of headphones that suit you, and a microphone of your choice. Getting something like a Antlion ModMic or a V-Moda BoomPro (if your headphones are compatible) turns your headphones into a normal headset.

If you 100 % insist on getting a gaming branded headset because your level of MLG is too high, you should be looking at Qpad QH-90 or Kingston HyperX Cloud, or the Qpad QH-85. The QH-90 and Cloud are rebranded Takstar Pro 80, while the QH-85 are rebranded Takstar Hi2050 (also open, and my recommendation of these). They are alright headsets for the their price, but you can still do better by getting separate microphone + headphones.

At this price point I don’t think you will need a headphone amplifier, and the built-in soundcard on your motherboard should be good enough.

Why is "deflecting shot" unblockable?

The skill has been unblockable throughout the beta events, and that hasn’t been changed, despite the skill itself receiving numerous other changes. If you had chosen to delve a little deeper into this yourself, you might’ve realised that maybe this could be a tooltip error as well.

Now do I think it should be blockable? Not really. But it’s by no means the only skill in the game which is unblockable for seemingly no reason at all, and it’s not the strongest unblockable skill either. What you should’ve done, is report this as a bug (whether it’s an actual bug or just a tooltip error) instead of making a QQ thread on the forums.

Hello, please allow me to tell the story of my bonsai tree. When I was 12 I asked my parents for a bonsai tree, which I eventually got. I quickly grew very fond of this little shrub and spent time with it every day making sure it had enough water and nutrient, and I would ensure my cat would not attack it. Fast forward a few months after I got it, and we were going on vacation for 3 weeks. I left my beloved bonsai in the care of my sister, but when I got home I discovered she had completely forgotten about my miniature tree and it was now dead.

I spent the next years in and out of institutions never fully recovering. Just writing this has made me crack up a little as I think about the great trauma I was inflicted as a kid. It wasn’t really until I found this game I finally felt like the pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place. Not only were plants considered a legitimate race, you could even play as one! Sadly in the last months this game has managed to hit closer and closer to home, and I feel like I’m drifting into a shaky state of mind again.

PvE is now plant holocaust, and plants are depicted as the bad guys. Your objective is always to kill the evil tree people, just like my sister slayed my sapling through sheer neglect. If I go to PvP or WvW, sylvari are more popular than ever, and their constant deaths are almost unbearable. I don’t feel like playing this game anymore.

Please consider people who had bad experiences regarding plants, Anet. The stress inflicted on me from just opening up your game is horrifying. Thank you for your attention.

Bug regarding ele downstate and vamp runes

I have been trying to test this with a friend, as there is a way for elementalist to enter downstate with 99 % hp provided certain conditions are met. From what we have gathered, you need 2 things:

  • 6 Vampirism runes (PvE/WvW version, this doesn’t seem to work in PvP)
  • Water GM traits Soothing Power or Cleansing Waters (Powerful Auras does NOT work)

If you go down with this, regardless of your downed penalty or attunement, you will enter the downstate with 99 % hp. There seems to be a cooldown, however. We haven’t been able to test this exactly, but we think it is 60s, the same as the runes’ 6th bonus. This cooldown seems to go off even if you don’t have the right traits.

As you can imagine, we haven’t been able to figure out what causes this bug, since it seems to work only with Runes of Vampirism (Scholar, Earth and Lich were also tested), and 2 specific traits that don’t seem to have anything to do with eachother. The 3rd GM trait won’t trigger the bug. Additionally we tested thief and Acrobatics, the corresponding traitline to Water, and that didn’t work either. So we would really appreciate if a dev took over from here, as there is a limit to how much we can test.

If anyone is wondering, that first clip with the failed leap isn’t a bug. It functions the same way as say Dragon’s Tooth when you aim it. Look down and move around a bit and you will travel a much shorter distance. Same applies to stuff like Mighty Blow and Burning Speed. Hope this helps when you are JPing~

The constant light fields won’t be a problem, as there will be a phalanx warrior in party. I’m going to take a guess 66060 hammer will be top DPS for guardian. The symbols will also heal and give permanent protection, which is pretty great too for scholar bonus.

For very short fights I think you will be using mace/focus + gs 66006.

Good riddance, we don’t need more passive, undodgeable damage. Meditation guardian is already looking at massive buffs, so it’s not like this is going to destroy the viability either. People keep complaining about guardian’s lack of soft CC, yet 3 of the hammer skills are CC. Additionally, from the trait preview, we will be getting an on-demand panic strike in radiance, but I guess you always need something to cry over.

You aren’t missing anything, the strengths of the build are grossly exaggerated. It’s simply not a very good build, and you are better served investing in Virtues for sustain and support. If you invest everything – traits, runes, sigils – into might stacking, and you are still only mediocre at it, you need to take a step back and realise it’s probably not what the guardian is supposed to do.

Use air/fire, leeching, hydromancy or other sigils which grant an immediate bonus, and drop the strength runes in favour of for instance Pack, and I think you will find yourself with just as much sustained damage, and way better burst.

This build got weaker damage, worse self-sustain and less team support than a standard meditation build with 6 into Virtues. The only thing it got for it is more passives with burn on block, making it even more noob friendly.

No, you cover irrelevant (this is the same thing as unimportant) things in your video, and the advice is often bad and/or incomplete. Just to go over sigil of intelligence again, everyone knows it will make the next 3 attacks crit, or at least they can read it from the tooltip or on the build template. It is useful information to mention that this sigil is strong when you use Final Thrust, but beyond that you didn’t really say anything that will help a beginner. You also failed to mention you can use the sigil to get a critical on Arcing Arrow.

So basically, this is a 20 minute video of you talking over something that could be learned from a gw2skill page, and there are so many things you didn’t even touch on, such as the role of the build. But hey, over 1k viewers and that text at the top begging for donations give you the gold you are after I guess. It is a bit shameless, though, considering the quality of the video.

I only watched the first video (shout sw/wh build), and I am not sure what to think about this. You basically spend 20 minutes listing the components of the build, and talk about why it’s called worker build. Though I am confused, as wouldn’t this mean any other build with team support focus also is a worker build?

Anyway, the few tips you give are either very basic or … very odd. You say the intelligence sigil is for getting a critical on final thrust, yet you say it’s hard to land, so you recommend to cripple the enemy first. Your advice is therefore to autoattack cripple them before final thrust. I hope I am not the only one who see the logical flaw in this advice.

The question I asked myself after watching the video, is whether it was made to help people or to beg for donations.

So, let’s look at armored attack vs. destruction of the empowered. While I like DOTE (I use it regularly when roaming or in small groups, but then again I also use armored attack at the same time — 0/2/6/0/6), I would not choose it over armored attack for my build, which has 2100 toughness (+210 power). At a base 2400 power (rounding down a bit), that gives me 2610 power. To achieve another 210 points of raw damage with DOTE, which is +3% dmg per boon on my target, the target would need to have a minimum of 5 boons active.

Solid math right here. Ok first of all, I have a suspicion you are running Dolyak Signet, in which case your toughness will be slightly inflated, and Armored Attack won’t use the passive toughness it gives to calculate the power. But nevermind that, let’s assume you just got 2400 power and no might. 210 extra power gives us 8.75 % more damage. I don’t know how you came to the conclusion that you the target needs 5 or more boons on it for DOTE to be better, because it’s actually a better trait when it got as few as 3 boons on it. And this is best case scenario for Armored Attack. The more power you got (from might), the better DOTM will be in comparison.

So really, I find it amusing how you attack people stacking critical damage because “those numbers look great in the hero panel”, when you do exactly the same thing with power. DOTM >>>> Armored Attack

All my armour was equipped and fully functional. Hopefully I am level 80 by now. The first screenshot was outside a tower so I don’t know what buffs the ranger had at the moment. In the second he was outside SM and I doubt he had anything special like warrior banner or whatever.

Is this meant to be ranger qq thread? Because if so long range shot was not buffed at range…this kind of damage was possible pre patch…

Because that is what it is supposed to do. Earlier you would deal damage, apply poison, get stolen skill, etc, when you casted it on anything within range regardless if you could shadowstep to it or not, and they didnt blind/block/dodge it. This was fixed July 1:

Steal: Fixed a bug that caused players to occasionally steal an item from targets they could not reach by shadowstepping.

If the shadowstep fails, whether its because the person is in an unreachable spot or if the environment makes it fail because it can be wonky sometimes, you will get the Thrill of The Crime boons (if traited for), and steal will go on full cooldown. No other bonuses are awarded, as the steal didn’t land. It would be as if you used it without a target.

So how do leaderboards actually work?

First thing you need to understand about elo is that win percentage is basically useless in terms of determining your skill level. What matters is the actual rating, which is obviously affected by your wins and your losses, but this carries different weight depending on who it is you are facing. Basically what elo says, is what your expected result vs your opponent will be. Lets say you play 10 matches vs the same person, and according to your elo rating system you got a 30 % chance to win against him. If you then win 3 matches and lose 7, your rating should be unaffected. If you win more, you are “overperforming” and your rating will increase and of course decrease when it’s the other way around.

What this means is basically your rating depends on who you are playing. If you are playing against the very best players and score “average” you are as good as them. If you play extremely weak players and steamroll them you will get a very high win percentage, but it may not mean that much. Your elo rating should reflect this.

That said, I am not entirely sure how the rating system in GW2 works, as there is decay, and simply playing a match (regardless if it’s a loss or win) will usually boost your ladder rank massively. Still, my point about win ratio still stands, it’s a pretty useless measurement in itself.

Steal isn’t blocked by line of sight, though … It’s an ordinary shadowstep just like Infiltrator’s Signet (it works a bit differently obviously). As I said its a bug for blink/shadowstep in general, but it’s just that steal is a very powerful skill which a lot of people trait heavily into, so it’s very noticeable when it fails.

1. Steal bug happens on every 10th steal in which your steal randomly misses. This can happen to golems in the mists and even to rabits in wvwvw from melee range if u miss a steal u auto lose and have to run away !!! every 10th engagement u auto lose cause steal buggs!!!!

I don’t think this is a steal bug, but rather a blink/shadowstep issue. Earlier you could steal from anything within range and get the full range of benefits other than shadowstep to target if they were in a place you couldn’t shadowstep to (like stolen ability, poison, daze, heal, whatever you had traited for). Frankly that was a bit broken, so I’m glad they changed this.

As it is now, if they are within range, but shadowstep bugs out for whatever reason, you will only get Thrill Of The Crime boons as if you missed it or used without target and steal will go on full cooldown. A fix to this would be to clean up terrain/code/whatever to make blinks more reliable, thus fixing it for ALL CLASSES, because thief isn’t the only class that suffers from this. I’m sure mesmers have plenty of experience with blink doing nothing for instance … As a fix only for thief maybe put steal on 5s cooldown which is what it does if target is outside range?

You say “abused the crud” out of it.

Boss has a projectile based attack. Players have skills that reflect projectiles. Using said skills to reflect the projectiles is called, “playing the encounter as intended” as far as I am concerned. It’s highly troubling that you consider using projectile reflection skills against projectiles to be “abuse.” Perhaps you should spending some time reflecting on how your point of view is so skewed?

But reflection is an exploit.

My opinion:

PvE -> Not need skill. /Stack and DPS/ [Not fun]
WvW/GvG/PvP -> Need skill. /You need think, because you playing vs real players/ [Fun]

Dungeons and PvE remake: If the bosses had more intelligence, and the dungeons not just about the corners, then the gameplay better. You can say everthing, but you all know boring and this is only. If you joining the dungeon, for example CoE, where you move killing to bosses? Go to corner wait the boss run to corner, or pull to corner, you all know. Like we have some dungeons when the bosses aren’t moving to corners, need change every dungeon mechanic, i think. Not need answer, because you can’t say better things.

At least based on tooltips even at level 79 Ascended weapons have equal strength as Exotic ones…

Does this also mean a rare weapon may be nearly as good as an exotic one (apart from attribute differences) all the way up to and including SE story?

You are making an assumption and then passing it off as true with no other arguments than “there has been a lot of complaints”. Maybe you should go play PvP before you say these things.

What exactly are we talking about? The most DPS? The biggest damage with a single attack? If we are talking the biggest damage in a single hit (theoretically), I would guess it is elementalist with churning earth. Biggest damage with a single skill would be warrior’s 100b, but it hits multiple times over something like 3-4 seconds. And if we are going by the biggest number shown on screen, you could camp mesmer greatsword auto or elementalist scepter air auto, and you will eventually build up a bigger number than any other skill in the game.

EDIT: But since we are talking about theoretical damage meteor shower, but also conjures (fiery sploitsword) if you want to count those.

I am so kitten sick of stacking.

It effectively ruins all the dungeon content in the game. No more fighting the boss as it was designed. Nope, gotta all sit in a weird corner watching my cooldowns go off. Oh, and this time it decided to magically not work, so we have to go try it again.

I know all you professional dungeon runners are in love with the idea of cheesing down content to get it done faster, but for all of us that actually enjoy fighting bosses and doing PvE content, stacking is killing our love for this game.

I just have to wonder why ANet lets this kind of thing go. Why are they just enabling their playerbase to just cheat their way through dungeons? Doesn’t that go against everything game designers and developers are supposed to stand for?

I don’t know. I’m just so kitten sick of cheesing my way through every bit of content in this game.

I’ve stacked perfectly multiple times in a row and sometimes it just doesn’t work. That’s probably the worst part. If it worked 100% every time I’d understand but basically people are gambling on the system breaking and sometimes that doesn’t happen and the boss creams you because, guess what, you’re all just standing in one spot.

You know, like what’s supposed to happen.

Explain to us why groups stack:

hint #1 – it’s nothing to do with exploiting bosses.

1) People stack because they are using melee weapons and have no choice but to stay close to eachother. Melee confirmed exploit.

2) People stack because they want to break line of sight and force mobs to them and prevent ranged attacks. Environment confirmed exploit.

3) People stack because defensive utility such as wall of reflection has a small AoE. Surviving Not having healers confirmed exploit.

4) People stack because they can buff eachother. Banners confirmed exploit.

5) People stack because they want to cuddle. Love confirmed exploit.

I don’t think anyone cares about a “sexy” male outfit anyway. As a male I’d rather look strong instead of looking like a kitten in a skimpy outfit.

Well, you’re wrong. Then again, Male Sexiness tends to also reinforce strength/power and stamina (Or fabulousness). Of course, there’s a reason for that! I don’t think people would be as offended by ‘skimpy’ male armors as they think they would be.

Huh, If I wanted to impress a female in real life It wouldn’t be with a kitten skimpy outfit. This stuff is not for males.

The only way would be to remove the ENTIERE upper – clothes so she can see your muscles but beside from that I don’t think females like guys who wear this kind of wierd stuff that shows off your skin.

…you really think women (and men) don’t like seeing men without shirts on? Never heard of the Chippendales, or the hype around shirtless Thor? Women’s bodies are certainly more sexualised/evaluated aesthetically in Western culture (how many times have you heard that ‘womens’ bodies are just better looking’?) – but there is millenia of precedent for appreciation of male bodies, too. Those Greek statues weren’t just there to hold up the roof, you know.

Yes female body looks better and is sexualized. That’s why skimpy clothes fit well on females and not on males.

As a male you want to show off the upper body only ( assuming its a public place) but a female can show off everything .

That’s why I said , beside from having the ability to hide the chest piece in this game, any type of other “skimpy” clothes would look weird on a male.

I haven’t found any ways to make the fight particularly easy for warrior, but if you have a guardian, bully him into ask him nicely to trait for spirit weapons (longer duration + shorter cooldown), master of consecrations, and go spirit shield + wall.

That must be the first time I hear someone talk nicely about Spirit Weaponry. Last Guardian was kicked (not by me) for using Spirit Weapons.

I am not talking about spirit weapons in general, only the shield … Although I admit I hate it too as it is so weird. But not using it while your party is getting destroyed by Mossman is just plain stupidity.

Definitely slot a ranged weapon if you are stuggling with melee. Dead zerkers players deal no dps … Maybe best to keep fast hands for that.

please give us examples of bosses that don’t use their mechanics if a party is stacked. I always see people say this yet they never give examples.

The TA up champ right before the tree won’t do anything if you stack in a certain place, but that’s obviously a bug …

Aside from that people “stack” when they melee so the only “solution” to stacking would be to go all range. The only place i can think of where stacking is an actual thing and beneficial – but no pugs seem to be able to do that – is Lupicus in second phase with his AoE barrage. All other stacking is breaking LoS behind corners and proper use of surroundings.

I really haven’t noticed a big shift in the D/P meta. It’s still a popular and powerful build, arguably even OP against other melee-focused builds.

Aside from excessive condition spam I don’t have very many issues with other classes.

I’m not sure about the Sigil choices however. Sigil of Air for mainhand seems like a given because of the added burst, but I’m not sure what and how frequently the off-hand is procced.

I’d wager that Sigil of Force might be a better choice since it adds to your Backstab burst and doesn’t require you to use skills 3-5 to procc the Sigil on a regular basis.

It doesn’t matter where you put the sigils.

if support is truly not viable in pve and wvw with groups, should i just trade for dps instead? what do most groups look for in a guardian?

also, wouldnt mace be better for off hand with the heals, and healing breeze for allied healing?

How often does it need to be said that being tanky isn’t equivalent to being support? The guardian is pretty much a defensive support class by nature, and the build Obal linked packs basically as much support as a guardian can give (at least the best support for PvE). The gear is irrelevant, but if you go berserker gear at least you will output some damage too. Toughness and vitality are the two most selfish stats you can have as they only help you stay alive, whereas dps gear helps your team kill things faster, thus making your active defence (blocks, blinds, dodges, reflection, etc) much more valuable, and it makes it easier for your group.

Mace is bad because you will be camping hammer if you want to give maximum support. The heals won’t reach maximum effectiveness unless you are running maximum clerics gear, but the protection from the hammer is equal regardless of gear, and with clerics your dps will go to kitten.
