This doesn’t belong on page 2.
I really like how facets are and the sound effects that come with them. I don’t want anet touching any other animations after seeing the latest changes of “reduced noise”, because they will end up removing the entire thing.
I like it. Don’t change it.
Does anybody remember before this game was released on the official website under the class previews they had short 5-30 second videos of certain abilities/spells??? I remember watching them and linking them to a friend of mine and it made us both preorder the game. If you had shown me the new fireball, auras, and all the other god awful changes they’ve made since release I’m sure I would have had a different feeling.
How bout that?
It’s more than just compelling gameplay that makes people want to play a game, let’s not forget that. In fact I cannot play Rift because of the generic animations, even though the game has incredible depth to its combat and class system.
Please people stop pushing for shrinking effects on bosses. I don’t understand why so many people have an issue with these effects, it’s been like this for 3 years and we’ve all killed world bosses and are clearing raids- there is nothing to fix here. I really, really, like the scaling of effects on bosses as a guardian, I’m engulfing this creature in righteous fire and it is freaking beautiful.
Also keep in mind there’s 80 or so players sitting there blasting at a boss using magic- it should look like a firework show that’s a lot of power! For people with garbage computers let them turn off these effects, but let me keep mine.
These “reduced noise” changes are an incredibly stupid move for the health of this game. When I saw the new auras the first thing I thought of was the dying MMO Rift. The new egg shaped barely visible animation looks like it came directly from that game. It looks generic, and once you take away the feeling of power from our characters people are going to lose interest in combat. Let’s be real here guys, guild wars has way less skills and therefore depth in combat gameplay so making it less exciting to watch is going to be a huge, huge mistake.
Personally if these continue and you destroy my favorite abilities I’m personally probably going to stop playing this game. Might as well play Rift.
No. I like visual effects even simple ones like this. A slider that adjusts this on a per player basis is what’s needed. It’s bad enough what they did to elementalist fireball I don’t want them touching any other effects personally.
I never post on forums, but I felt compelled to voice my disappointment with this change. When you nerf visual effects that players have been used to and enjoying for 3 years, you should really include an option to keep the original. This reminds me so much of back a few years ago when Everquest 2 destroyed all the amazing animations they had in for god awful wow style weak ones, people left in droves. Believe it or not there are q lot I people who play this game for the fantasy and changes like this make your character feel way less powerful and uninteresting. Amazing effects an animations are one of this games strongest draws, and you just hurt that.
Change it back, or give an option.
Hammers are a personal favorite weapon of mine, and as such I can’t help feeling like the sound effects are lacking in comparison to the greatsword. The greatsword sound effects are amazingly well done, especially when hitting a “metal” target. I feel like part of the reason greatswords are so favored among players is not only do they get better models but they also just sound right.
The hammer sound effects sound more like a nail tapping on a rock, too low in volume and too high pitched. A hammer should feel powerful, ESPECIALLY when hitting a “metal” target. the sound of a heavy, metal hammer should make a much louder sound on impact.
Anybody else feeling like they didn’t give as much effort into hammers as they did for greatswords in the sound department??
