Is it ever worth to use tempest spec even though I only have access to half the skills? Then maybe go dagger/war horn?

I would suggest taking the arcane trait line, instead of either fire or lightning. The boons on attunement switch go a long way to help your survivability, plus additional vigor application on crits if I remember correctly.

The thing about elementalist is there is a spec and combination of weapons that can handle just about anything, so I wouldn’t necessarily get stuck on JUST using the dagger.

I am a returning player, I’ve done one full play through (map competition and getting skill points) at launch of HoT with my necro but now I am trying with my ele and struggling a bit. I am only 55% unlocked on my tempest so I’m not using it and instead I’m playing fire/lightning and water with a dagger/focus. I am having a hard time with survivability which maybe is a l2p issue but I was curious if there was a spec or tip I could follow to help make the pve Hot experience easier, and keep me alive longer (I am in full exotic berserker gear).

P.S. I really enjoy the fantasy of daggers, so if at all possible can I keep using a dagger? I’m willing to try other weapons to make my life easier, but would prefer to use a dagger.

99% of this is l2p but I am hoping you guys could give me some hope and insight in playing my thief in fractals and dungeons. In spvp and wvw I am very comfortable on thf, but in fractals 1-9 range I get downed at least once every boss fight I am using the metabattle build s/p d/d build and I am executing my rotation correctly but I am so squishy. This also goes for world events and other enemies I just can’t spam blind on… Am I just horrible at timing my dodges? (Half the time I don’t know when the boss is using a powerful attack). Is there some survivability trick I’m missing? Did any of you ever have issues staying alive but found some tricks and tips that helped you? Thanks.

Think we can still get away with running zerker or will we need soldiers, Knights or like a mix? Same goes for 50+ fractals, what do you guys think?

I am not extremely fond of being a glass cannon but I really love my thief. When I play my zerker thief I hate that if I screw up on a dodge I am toast or even imagining raids in HoT scares me too due to how squishy thiefs are. So instead of just re rolling I was extremely curious if I could build a competitive condition thief using say sinister armor, weapons and jewelry (power, condition and importantly some toughness) and be able to still get good results in dungeons, fractals and hopefully the raid?

If no, why?

If yes what weapons would be best and any other build info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is condition engi viable for fractals? Also a scrapper using a hammer what stats does he want to focus on? Power?

Hey guys, just got my engi to 80 in prep for HoT (was a thf main) and I’m curious what gear sets will I need to be effiecent in all game modes (fractals, WvW, dungeons, raids). I checked meta battle and saw zerker nades was the top of the list but I’ve also heard builds like sinister engi doing well too? Anyways I have laurels to spend on ascended gear and gold to buy exotics but before I do I wanted an idea of what I need? Just zerkers? Maybe a condi set as well? Will big gear changes happen come HoT and scrapper being released? Thanks in advance.

What weapon combination makes Rangers dps one of the highest? Sw/axe?

I love playing ranger, specifically long bow and great sword. I pvp and pve with that set and enjoy the play style. My concern tho is when Druid comes out will he become a better version then our current specs that will make people say In like pve “o invite the ranger, but only if he comes as Druid”. I’m sad to say but if Druid becomes a specialztion that we HAVE to play because maybe it’s utility or superior party set up is the best, I’m going to have to think kitten a different class to play… What do all you think? Will Druid outshine or will there still be room for all of rangers specializations?

Is d/p better because you can keep up stealth better? Also am I understanding it right that I should be waiting on the outskirts of a point u till it’s safe for me to cap alone or untill a team mate comes along and starts a fight?

I love everything about the class, from the gameplay to the style and looks, everything. But I suck… It’s super depressing, I tell my self the more I play the easier it will get annnd nope. I’ve always used metabatle for builds (I prefer s/d over d/p) and more recently branched out to YouTube to learn something from better thiefs out there but now I am also coming here begging you all for help. I’ve played ele d/d and I do fine, even a shatter Mesmer but none of them are my true love, I want to learn to thief and I’m hoping any of you could maybe give me some pointers on how not die to every class in the game with in 5 seconds of me trying to open on them :S

So I just hit 80 on my guardian and had all the money saved up to buy full beserker exotics, weapons, sigils and runes and I am using the metabattle GS SF build. Now I go do a level 9 fractal (I play ranger and mesmer so I have experince in fractals but from a ranged stance) and I think I was downed almost every other fight. I would use up all my rolls, and have my heal and virtues on CD and would just be getting rekt all the time. Is it just my timing? Are there skills I should be using instead to help survive? Any help would be appreciated as I have fallen in love with guardian but don’t enjoy dieing as much as I have been.

Hey, I am new to engineer and currently only lvl 23. I am really enjoying it so far and from what I hear engineers are a fairly mobile class but at my current lvl I don’t really feel mobile. So besides rocket jump and that elixir that gives me swiftness what other skills will increase my mobility? Is my lvl still too low and I need traits to really become mobile? Are there any tips you can give to help me get around the map faster? Thanks.

Hey guys, I am a returning player and I strictly main a Mesmer. I love the play style look and feel of a Mesmer but most of all I love using the great sword. I play all aspects of the game: sPvP, WvW, world pve, fractals and dungeons. I know according to meta battle and min/maxing great sword is not the strongest pick in a lot of these areas (staff/gs is strong in sPvP) but I was hoping if you guys could help me out with a build for roaming wvw and fractals that uses a GS and any other offhand. Again I know it might not be the most maximized optimal build but anything close to good and still uses the great sword would be great. Thanks.
