They actually nerfed one of alternatives:
Spectral Mastery: Duration increase has been reduced from 50% to 20%.
I would love to see them increase the stacks or change the conditions, but they won’t because RS5 and RS4 exist. Why do you think RS4 also got nerfed?

Don’t worry! With this nerf, the next elite spec will be amazing in comparison! Until, it’s gutted and the process can repeat! All aboard the necro-coaster!
Nope. A mobile well makes no sense, that isn’t what a well is, and making plague a well would make it suck, plus it is literally just Well of Darkness + poison.
You’re asking for an ability that has literally nothing in common with a well except pulsing AoE effect. It makes no sense to label it as a well when the 11 other wells in the game function totally differently.
You are aware that a pulsing AoE effect is all that a well is right? Plague is already a mobile well with the label of corruption that let’s you choose what it pulses. And just because other wells aren’t mobile doesn’t mean that an elite one couldn’t be. Saying all wells must function exactly the same is as stupid as saying BiP can’t be corruption because corruptions can only give conditions and never boons.
with OPs logic every specialisation would have to be called Dragonhunter because everyone hunts the Dragon…
With your logic every class in Diablo 3 would be called the Demon Hunter because everyone hunts demons. Just because one group specializes themselves in dragon hunting doesn’t mean mean everyone else should be called a Dragonhunter because that is what they are fighting at the time.
Except, well, everyone is hunting Dragons, not just the Guardian. Demon Hunter would work because the Guardian has skills that imply a holy nature, such as Consecration, Ward, Meditation, etc.
Are Demon Hunters the only people who fight demons? The Dragons are the evil that is corrupting Tyria, so holy magic would be just as effective against them as it would be against demons.
The dragons aren’t evil though, they are forces of nature, and without them the world wouldn’t be able to contain magic. The wiki describes the dragons as “forces of nature and primordial forces from the view of Tyrians, the dragons seem no different … [than] a blizzard or earthquake”.
The demons in Tyria are the servants of Abaddon or Dhuum, not the dragons.
And if the expansion was about fighting Abaddon or Dhuum again they would have called it the Demon Hunter and a lot less people would be upset with the name.
While the dragons are a natural part of the world they still are an evil threatening Tyria and guardians magic is used to defend Tyria.

Let’s imagine that they named the new specialization the Demon Hunter and it used holy magic to create fields that when a monster walked on it said holy magics would be released causing adverse effects to the enemy walking on it, keeping them at bay. Meanwhile the Demon Hunter is firing arrows at the hindered foe, imbued with holy energy that hinder the evil and empower and protect the righteous. That sounds like something a Guardian who was facing demons would want to become. Now replace the word Demon with the current menace facing Tyria, the Dragons, and you get the Dragonhunter. The Dragonhunter is not someone who stalks dragons through the woods like deer as a ranger does. They go looking for the dragons and let the dragons know it, and the days of dragon tyranny are coming to an end.
