I’m not sure about the specific numbers but the suggestions provided in the OP are generally what I’ve been telling people too. Treat tomes more like kits with Pages as an ammunition/initiative/energy system that gates the skills rather than hard cooldowns.
While talking about Firebrand in the stream the other day they mentioned how bad it felt when you had half a mantra and had to decide whether to waste it to put it on cooldown or go into a fight with only half the skill still usable. Tomes have that exact same problem right now.
I think a more fluid system like that would also make healer tome a LOT better. Healing for a ton every 45s then having no healing at all just doesn’t work very well IMHO and it’ll generally just lead to the tome being ignored unless you don’t have anything else to do.
If I’ve maxed out my mastery XP but haven’t yet completed Torn From The Sky … is all further XP I earn going to go to waste? I’m at 635000/635000 for my and nothing else seems to change that.
My biggest issue with the hammer is that basically all of its skills except 1 don’t work properly on uneven terrain or cliffs, the latter of which tends to be one of the best places to normally swap to a ranged weapon for things.
Yesterday had a daily frozen maw and noticed while doing the event that no event information appeared on my screen after I left the area immediately around Hunter’s Lake.
So for the entire duration of the event there was no Frozen Maw event notifier on my screen except when I jumped. Every time I hit space bar, the event would appear for the duration of the jump then vanish when I hit the ground again.
Tried it with Shadow Behemoth too and the same thing happened.
minimap circles for the events still show up. Non-meta events show up fine and I can still complete the events otherwise.

Agree with Killyox, it’s not a very fluid animation. It looks better under impossible odds because it smooths out the pauses a bit.
Might be in part because they changed the way the second hit works before launch. It used to hit twice.
Also might be a bit bias since I’m coming off ranger and ranger sword auto is gorgeous and fun and awesome.
I’d like to see a ranged mainhand. Especially with how terrain locked Hammer is making it hard to use in a lot of places where ranged weapons are normally good.
Yeah. Some of the lines with actual words are niftyl, but the grunts not so much.
At first glance it seems to be condi focused. But then at the same time it’s got some anti-condition tanking stuff built into it with more healing for each condition on you, pain absorption giving you resistance for absorbing conditions, replenishing despair, demonic defiance, bolstered anguish and pulsating pestilence.
All good stuff, but it seems like it’s hard to build around given that it relies so heavily on fighting an enemy who can condition you.
And then it’s got a smattering of crit stuff in it. Which is fine, but nothing else in the tree seems really fury/crit based.
So am I missing anything here?
