Once you have a resolution on this, you might want to post here how it turned out so others can use it as reference. In case ArenaNet decides not to make public statement on the issue.

You wouldn’t lose your account, they’ll probably just upgrade it. Just ask them

So, like everyone else, I’ll have my opinion.
I recently purchased the game just over two weeks ago [@ $40], under the impression, I needed the base game to purchase the expansion. I have put in over about 50 hours in those last few weeks and feel a kitteneated that if I had waited two weeks instead, I’d have the base game plus the upcoming ‘expansion’. I understand there is a return policy of 30 days or so I read, but I don’t feel like losing my progression that I’ve worked hard towards in those two weeks [I read they terminate the account]. I also understand the veteran player outrage at not getting at least one character slot with the purchase for the new class. I hope in some way there is compensation for my problem and for the veteran players too. Thanks all. Hopefully we get an official word on the statement soon from Anet.
