Sorry but not every mmo uses acronyms for public test servers lol, yea ive been playing MMOs for a very very long time, so no its not my first. Assumptions are bad, remember that
The thing is all content should be equally viable for all players, sorry to say.
That comment really doesn’t say much about the dungeons. . .
Also what is PTR?
I do agree giving away a piece of armor each clear of a path would be a bit too much.
I would say buff the token rewards on a clear for sure, or remove all token rewards from boss chests completely and replace with rare drops, and only have token rewards 50+ tokens on clear.
Another thing that can be done is have path specific rewards, that can only be gotten from each doing a particular path, and maybe another reward or bonus from completing all 3 paths daily.
Another thing to keep in mind is if every path is viably rewarding, even though the decision to make getting armors much easier, what can and should happen is more people do them, collecting armors and making multiple sets. So even though I have totally completed an entire set I will still have the yearning to do another or get more.
Which is not a bad thing either as it will be way better than having a smaller population doing the content.
Note not talking about making the dungeons easier but just about the reward system in place. I think the challenge is pretty nice at the moment.
Also the above poster did indeed nail it, people will always try to find the easiest way, if something is too hard people will find a way round it, that is not meant to be.
If the content is challenging and fun, and not painfully difficult there would not be an issue either.

Put all token rewards at the end of a dungeon only, none from chests. There problem fixed.
Dude, I don’t know if you know this or not, but this is the Guild Wars 2 forum? I don’t know if you’ve played the game or not… but you clearly are thinking of some different game.
I really do not see the connection you are making. Anyway, by removing the tokens from chests and only having them available by beating the dungeon will actually solve alot of issues.

Also being rewarded for a job well done, is part of the fun in any game. doing content for no apparent gain will never work in any mmo, especially if it is supposed to be the most challenging thing in the game, then its supposed to be the most rewarding.
Even in GW1 getting through a dungeon to the end meant “for example” unlocking the craft npc in order to gain FoE armor. The challenge is great but when there is no apparent reason to push to the end like I have been saying before. It really means nothing.
We can do the dungeons for fun for sure, but what happens when we are able to complete it? do it again for fun? makes no sense at all.
except it’s not. You could farm in orr and make hella more profits than you can in a dungeon.
and if you like the look of a certain set (which is entirely subjective because I hate the look of all of them) You need a transmutaion stone which you either have to luck out on, or buy from the cash shop to combine it with items with better stats.
Again rewarding is subjective some people mean gold some mean equipment skins, and you are right its not the most rewarding thats the point. The effort put in does not match the reward. To me farming gold and profit does not mean reward, thats something we earn and not really a challenge

I played GW1 for years upon years, and to me this is totally contradictory to what it represented.

Rob, I am glad for the changes in difficulty but I believe what is causing “most” people to shy away, is that the token system does not really reward people for pushing through to the end of a dungeon path.
Finishing a path should yield something substantial that cannot be gained by doing a couple bosses for chests. I think an incentive to complete should be giving more that just an extra couple tokens.
xp and gold doesnt not really count as this is not something exclusive.
No matter how fun any game is, there needs to be a reward for the time and effort put in. In PVE this is usually equipment based or something to let you know that you are progressing. In an mmo doing a very challenging event or dungeon just for fun is going to fail.
Something def had to be done, I just hope they rework the reward system a bit, to make pushing through the dungeons worth it, as right now there is no incentive to beat a dungeon, as the token rewards are no where near substantial enough to warrant the time investment needed in some of the paths.
Like I said before, why not have better incentives for people to actually want to finish dungeons, instead of just needing to grind tokens. The reward at the end of a path should be much greater than the chests throughout the run. Do this and there will be no issue with people wanting to try different paths or progressing through. Even if the dungeon is fun and challenging its a fact that no one will do it unless the reward is worth it.

The biggest issue with the token system is that it does not reward at all for dungeon completion. there is really no incentive to complete a dungeon at all, just find the easiest and fastest way to gain tokens. There needs to be a higher token currency tier than is awarded at dungeon completion or, special skins for each dungeon path.
The dungeon reward npcs should have been placed at the end of each dungeon path, in homage to the craft npcs that we needed to unlock in gw1.
The problem is as soon as a way is found to maximize token vs time in any dungeon they are going to become ‘common’. Arah will be common soon enough also. The issue is that there is no incentive to complete a dungeon fully as there is no reward for pushing through the entire path vs just doing a couple bosses for tokens over and over again. When anet realizes that completing a dungeon should be much more rewarding than a couple extra tokens, things will change alot.
Anet stresses the difficulty and challenge in the dungeons, which I agree with, but the reward system does not at this time complement it. They should go back to what they said earlier in development about having worthy rewards at the end of a dungeon.

There is no incentive to complete dungeons the way the reward system works right now, completing a dungeon should have value, maybe enough tokens to afford one piece of the armor set, or a special token that can be traded for a weapon or armor piece, right now no one is gonna care to try and complete as farming a couple bosses quickly give the very same benefit.
Its obviously not a small issue that cannot be treated ticket to ticket. I really thought it was something that far and in-between until I visited the forums today and saw how widespread it is.
What is insulting is that this issue was reported by myself since Beta, and NOTHING was done.

Note I have the same issue as everyone, I have not been able to ’normally" purchase gems since BW3. In order to make any progress I had to literally change my isp by using my mobile internet. I was able to purchase maybe twice. Now its back to nothing again.
Note Paypal does not work at all, and its exactly the same email as my account. None of the credit card work. and I was able to make no progress using Comcast, my regular ISP.
This is def a huge issue in their system.
Card approval failed every time like everyone else here. I am ready and willing to spend a butt load also.
Note the issue has not been resolved.
