Hi dear Developers and PR Managers,
I want to Start my feedback respecting the rules of proper feedbacking.
Positive: The stress test was somehow les laggy the the actual servers we play WvW on.
NEGATIVES:
General:
The lag of Teamspeek for us Testers was not good. A big Fail to be honest.
The Map:
The true successes of competitive game play is clearness. We do not need Maps so complex and full of distracting environment.
The old borderlands have some minor mistakes yes, but players playing this Map for almost 3 years now cant have been so much frustrated with those maps can they? The map Was maybe interesting at the start but after a while it becomes nothing else then a blank white sheet of paper on which we the Players start to write down our own Storys of Honor, Glory, Victory, and defeats. So in WvW every day thousands of Storrys are being written we could say, and trust me in this, the minority of them is based around thinks like Players vs Doors actions. Most of them are about Fighting as a Zerg, as a Guild and as roamers. If u do not trust me on this Point, check Youtube. The most popular WvW videos are NOT about Guilds and Zergs(Puplic organized Large scale Group of 20+ Players) running around enjoying the Map and playing pve events in the middle of it and playing Player vs Door, it is about FIGHTS. So when Fights are the main part of the story, paying attention to a new map, the focus should be on bringing more depth and meaning to the victory’s of a won open field Fight. Open Fields are somehow misunderstood i think. Open field should be an Area in front of an Keep which is large and wide enough and free of distracting environment. You could see the Open Field like a lane in a moba Game. If u want to attack an Objective u have to beat the enemy, if he is willing to defend on an open field in front of the objective. A good Example is the Bay Keep on the old WvW map, which has an open Field in front of each outer Gate. The new maps are so vertical and chokefull that it is clearly to see which needs are covered here. The needs of PPT’ers. No missunderstandigs on this, i was a PPT’er to when it was funn and somehow equal on each side of the three servers, but this aint the case no more, and the enjoyment of Fights and winning those has become the one truth which me and many others are focused on.
The new map delivers so less into Fighting as Zergs but so much to roaming in smaler scalded groups that i don’t like it to be honest. The lag of clear and easy to see objectives and the too vertical structure of the map made me go crazy. If i wasnt told that this is an wvw stress test i would have thought that we are testing a new EOTM map, which again is NOT WvW. I remember a dialogue with the German community manager Mr. Domke, when we had the cdi about WvW. At one point he was talking about EOTM as part of WvW, he was interrupted immediately and we told him that EOTM is many thing but NOT WvW. Sad that this feedback was never brought back to the Developers or and PR managers of the GW2 Team.
Yes i know there are people who like the new Map, like we all like new thinks more than old things, but changing a WvW map should have been based on the Feedback of WvW players and not based on the feedback of whoever gave it to you. The new Desert Borderlands is so much more pushing WvW into the corner of EOTM / Sandy Desert farm(i don’t even know the actual name of that farming map ^^) that it hurts to see how the one part of the game i loved so much is being destroyed.
Towers and Keeps are not clear to see and so gigantic that i dont understand why? Most of the time they will belong to one side and not be populated the action will be in-between them, but the space in between those Keeps and towers is a large labyrinth like area.
How the new map could have been:
Ne new Map could have had 3 themes changing drastically when u leave one and enter another one. But this dose not mean to fill the map with useless eye candy environment stuff.
Objectives on the Map should be clear to see. This is your supply camp Tower Keep.
Positive:
The new map shows again how much love and effort the design team is bringing in to the development of new maps. It is full of variety and new themes, full of life and Beauty.
UNFORTUNATELY, this is exactly what we did not need in this extended amounts on the new WvW map. Sometimes less can be more.
Plz respect the fact that this is my personal feedback based on my experience which i made while playing on the beta stress test. I had some conversations during this in the Map chat and the feedback i got was pretty similar.
Just an example: “They say they listen to us, but why do we get an EOTM 2.0 map now? Who did they listen to?”
Ok the actual download is running now but the download speed is very unstable, going up to 6 mb/s but also going down to 50 kb/s.

for me it works now perfectly. Downloaded the Launcher in a sec, and is currently downloading the Game Data with 6-7 MB/sec.

I got invintation to a new test of desert borderland, but the point is that 1. PTT client is installing on my OS disc( I couldn’t change destination) and 2. It is updating overlong. I have 120 Mb/s and still it is downloading client with speed of 4 KB/s atm it is about 17 MB and I’m downloading it for over 1h. Can I do something to speed it up?
Ok figured out one thing, if u move the .exe to the drive you want to install it on, it will download the data on that drive. Smal tip, create an folder and drop the .exe in that folder so it will not mess up your main folder.
Still download is at 2 kb.Ke, thought so but I got 30 MB of content so… wasn’t worth to swap :P
What do u mean with 30 mb? Is it only downloading the launcher? Or did i have to copy that exe into the actual gw2 folder?

The Launcher started and is downloading with 2 kb.
Download Speed is 2 kb/sec. and it goes directly into my os Drive which is not the place where i want to install it.

my name Is TaKo and i am a Ranger Player since the release of GW2 for more than 2K+ h of game time.
I am Frustrated and i feel a bit lost.
GW2 has 3 Game Modes and so i want to share my experience for each one.
Lets Start with PVP: In sPVP i am playing a Spirit Ranger.
It works quiet good, makes a lot of fun but the problem is, that i can only play a spirit Ranger. Other builds are not welcome in any team that wants to play competitive, and not just for the fun.
Next Game Mode is PVE (Dungeons World Bosses etc.):
In PVE Rangers are not needed, not welcome and are getting kicked out of a lfg group faster than u can write in a Hi in the group chat. The argumentation is always the same. No dmg burst no power build, useless perma dead Pets. It is frustrating and providing sad feelings, but still i don’t care much, because my main focus is not on PVE nor is it on PVP. My main focus is on WvWvW.
WvWvW:
In WvWvW i feel lost. I have a ok working Frontline / Midline Ranger Build using a GS / LB combination. I have 2 cc (Muddy terain + the Elite skill ) and a healing spring. Sounds good on the Paper but reality is something completely different.
Every Public commander and all of the competition focused Guilds have no interest in a ranger joining the Squad. The sad thing is, there is no more explanation why they don’t want you in their Guild or in their Squad.
If you say that you are playing a Ranger, all you get back as a feedback is
“Delete your Ranger and start Playing a useful class”.
Rangers are getting so much hate from the WvW community that it is not fun anymore.
The most extreme experience i made was when i delivered a commander all the healing springs he needed. Whenever he asked for water fields i could deliver because i was sticky i had no issues surviving in the front line and i threw out all the cc i have. I was the Nr. 1 reason why the Front line could survive hard times because i was there when water was needed. I was doing a great job there but all i got as feedback when i asked for it was: “Delete your ranger and start playing an Staff-Ele, then u will be a useful player for the Squad” . No one disagreed, everyone started laughing in TS and i was sad and angry.
I gave the best i could, but still i was and am USELESS as a Ranger.
I hope that the dev team and class designers can change this by Fixing some of the main issues the Ranger class has. The issues have been mentioned so many times in various Subjects. There was a Ranger CDI etc. etc.
The hate shown by some players against the Ranger class in GW2, could easily be described as Racism in real life.
I am sure that i am not the only one who made this kind of exp. in WvW. or other game modes in GW2.
PLease Anet i am begging you, show some LOVE for the Rangers out there.

Hmm… I would like to see the Ranger borrow more from the Ritualist. Afterall, it’s not like we can’t already call down lightning bolts upon our foes.

Hell, I don’t know…
I feel like the devs had spend lots of time before release working out a concept for the ranger. While some ideas (maybe lots of them) haven’t worked out as intended, I still think that the underlaying concept is fine. Your suggestions, despite them beeing good ones, would change the whole class mechanic and turn the ranger into another class, which he wasn’t intended to be in the first place.

The Ranger was commercialized as the Master of Bows which he is’int by now.
I want my Master of Bows Ranger. I want a Longbow 2 skill equal to the Warrior with his GS 2 (100Blades).
That would be a point to start at.
I want a pet that fears the shi……… out of stealth’ed Thievs who say: “hell no every other class i go all in but not a ranger. The pet will smell my stinky feet and attack me right before i can attack the ranger”
But as we know the pet’s will never work as intended so i want my dmg back on me, because the pets are broken.
Hell, for the beginning that’s all i want. Of course there is more i would love to see happening.

First of all tyvm for the support u guys are giving to us ranger players.
To be honest I almost had lost my believe in the community, always thinking that we the rangers, the masters of the bows (as long as a thief or warrior dose not come along with one to kill u or your spirits and pet), would get some attention by all of the players and not be left back alone to the nerf angry developers.
While Tyria and its battlegrounds seem to be a place where all other professions have found a place to be useful, we the rangers are being abused just for our spirits. We only have one job to do. Go to pvp build a spirit ranger and go defend a point as long as possible. That’s all we can do at the moment.
Everyone I know is playing WvW and everyone is just asking me to change my char when I’m joining a group in WvW, even thou it is a level 80 full exo/accendet one. I feel like a player joining a gunfight with a spoon. Like I would be a twink Lvl 10 ore something. I always counter whith my spirits who could help, but the reaction is: What spirits dude, you mean this shi……. Dying in the very first second of a zerk fight?
I react whit: Butt friend c’mon I have a larg water field right, but the reaction is: Go make an backline ele dmg dealing AND giving 2 Waterfields while dealing dmg like he’ll thanks to all stat gear whith crit dmg crazy like hell. So I have no arguments left, since an ele even has 2 explo finishers.
I do not know one guild which is playing competitive gvg’s using the ranger. No one wants us anywhere except for pvp bunker jobs.
To get some importance in WvW I would prefer to see the ranger as the only class being able to throw a water field. That would make us useful as support at least, and it would be something special only being delivered by the ranger.
I know it sounds radical and all of u will hate me but when I spoke to guild leaders to Commanders and to players, they al agreed on the point that rangers would be needed strongly, when being the only class able to throw water fields. Ele’s have so much fields they can throw, so pleas take away the water field from them make it a light field, and give the rangers the option on longbow 5 to let not only arrows rain but also a water field. So in the game there would still be a class being able do deal with 2 water fields, the longbow would become useful, and the ranger wold be needed badly in WvW, and all that would be done without eavan a single one dmg boost to anything at all. This would be a first step. The second one is off course the useles pet ai a strange one handed sword dealing more dmg than the two handed one ?? Haha sounds strange, WELL AT LEAST IT SHULD!!!!
So I want to tyvm for your support and your attention dear GW2 players.
One final word to my Ranger loving players: As long as there is hope for change, as long as there is justice as long as there are at least some other strong competitors I believe in the power of the customer, of the paying player, the gamer, The Ranger using a Bow or eaven maybe two to show the World of Tyria THAT:

ANet has realized that the ranged ranger is causing to manny problems for them. A ranged ranger needs to really more on a working pet. While the pet is broken and no one at ANet can fixe it for what reasons ever, I heard a lot of them, ANet is going to erase the ranged ranger from the game. What will be left owner is a crippled warrior ranger. In mele 1v1 or 2v2 the ranger and his pet do work somehow. And since GW2 is balanced around 1v1 and 2v2 there is nothing for ANet and ncsoft to complain about. In WvW the ranger is useless. The thief has a better short-bow and the warr has a better longbow.
What a joke. The balancing team is so helpless with the Ranger that they even asked the big boss of MMO gaming inherent industries to help them. The answer was as simple as it could be: Fixe the pat ore change its mechanics and give mor support skills to the ranged weapons of the Ranger.
But the most funny moment I had when the balancing team was asked why a namely ranged class like the Ranger is best played mele. Guess what, they couldn’t give an answer to this.
I think the simplest solution to your problem is this,

Wilderness 5 Natural Vigor. Reduced the increased endurance regeneration from 50% to 25%.
This really ruins it for me. Again a big nerf out of nowhere.
Let me add it to the list:
- endurance regen nerfed from 50% to 25%
- Healing Spring no longer gives vigor each tick and water field duration reduced
- shortbow nerfed from 1200 to 900 range
- damage skills from many pets reduced by 50%
- pet leash range reduced drastically
- “Search & Rescue” can’t revive dead players anymore
- quickness on pet swap moved from Minor Adept to Major Grandmaster (swapped with worthless trait)
- “Guard” no longer works up or down ledges
- “Signet of the Beastmaster” moved from Adept to Grandmaster.I probably missed some.
Other unsesolved issues:
- Guard is a shout, but has a 1 second cast time
- Nearly all AoE attacks hit 3 targets instead of 5
- Require grandmaster traits to make signets, shouts, traps and spirits useful.
- Require grandmaster trait to have relatively useful condition removal.
- “Sic ’em” gets cancelled if the pet is told to activate another skill or told to change target.
- Signet of Renewal fails if pet is out of range.
- a healing skill (Healing Spring) is the only reliable on-demand condition removal rangers have.
- pets f2 often doesn’t activate or very late.
- sword auto-attack has too many leaps and makes the character feel out of control and prevents dodging.
- shortbow auto-attack bleed requires a flank.
- longbow Barrage too long cooldown.
- longbow requires to spend 50 trait points to get its basic traits (20% cooldown, piercing arrows, 1500 range)
- skirmishing has too many bad traits.If these were fixed/changed we might actually be getting somewhere with this class.

The Pats and the 40% dmg outcome is a joke, because something that dosent live long enough to to dmg is simply not exsitant, thats a fact. So we the rangers are batteling with 40% less dmg than any other class by default in wvw. My biggest problem with the ranger is the fact that it was descriped as a MASTER of the Bows, but it is so sadly and true that in endgame only a full deffensife ranger with Longsword is somehow usable. But if i wanted to play a mele class, than i would have put all my time money and effort to lvl up a mele class. So it is a fact for me that Anet cheated on me when describing a ranger. They took all my time and money i could have invested in other games and the outcome is a range class best played as a mele class.
I assume with some of the issues brought up….the REAL issues….has scared the dev away.
Sit back, and wait for some dev replies next year I guess.

Are you implying the complaints aren’t justified? Did you miss where he said they know about our problems but can’t be bothered to fix them because they aren’t easy fixes? Despite the game being out a year?
I’m sorry but THE core mechanic this whole class is designed and balanced around doesn’t work and they have told us quite clearly it’s not on their radar despite these issues being around since beta.

With all the issues, it’s not his place to see sorting the ranger class as a “consideration”, that is his job and his responsibility to make rangers ( and all classes) battle viable to battle any class pretty reasonably.
Look at the weapon issues as a starting point, the 1H sword rooting is a joke like the short bow nerf, the awful damage on axes that don’t know if they are hard damage or condition (both suck anyways for ranger), the pets that don’t hit despite the Anet vision where pet DPS is 40% of your damage. Someone made those decisions as bad as they were, to the point the class really is a mess. When they actually should have been nerfing and dumbing down other classes to make the ranger viable, they did the opposite and now find there are no easy fixes, even though there are some easy ones available to them – bump the damage up for one.Secondly… tongue in cheek or otherwise, critique is critique. If the facts were not there to poke holes they would not be on this forum now. The problem why people feel so strongly is because that these class balancing issues were not so apparent as newbies when the game launched. Now we know better because we are taking part in the game fully and we now realize these choices could have been rectified with a re-roll early on. But because you really have to bump to 80 to get the full potential of your class and started battling other classes in PVP or WVW. It is here you see the unfair class balance and by that time its far too late as you invested time, gold, real money for gems etc.
And it is here that where sorting the ranger problems are far more than a consideration, it’s a customer responsibility to its player base. That is the bottom line. If Anet developers actually did something considerably good for us for once instead of senseless nerfs to an already underperforming class, then perhaps the critique would not be so big. Unfortunately only they can solve that, however credit where credit is due… I am so pleased they are considering a nerf to perm stealth thieves and are understanding it was being abused in builds. So that is something at least.

To make things clear, i am not talking about, pve or pvp, i’m throug with that. I’m talking about the Ranger in Endgame, caled WvWvW. I’m actualy not asking you if you copuld do that for me, i am giving you the order to do that, for all of the Ranger playing Gamers of GW2, as a paying custommer. I want to support my Zerg with AOE AOE AOE. The Nec has 4 AOE field, the ranger just ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE. WHY? ANd WHY is it a fact that the cd of LB skill 5 is soooo long while it has no effectivnes left anymore. Where are the supporting skills Please Tell me! Write me a mail or do a YT vid where you can explayne how the master of bows can be played whit bows in WvWvW. Let me gues, you can’t don’t you. Explayne me how my pad should survive long enough in a zerg fight while i have no control about that thing, and why the skills have a cast time of 1000000000 secconds. You talk about healing spring, you musst be jocking, because i do not survive long enough to cast that spring for my zerg, when i’m going for the power ranger. Der Jon, face it, there is a real issue with the Ranger and WvW, and your job is to fix it. The ranger is one of 8 classes, so that means 1/8 of your game is broken and neeeeeeeeeeeeeeds to be fixed realy realy fast. You should stop nerfing anny thing and start rethinking about the LB skills their Cast time their use for the Zerg and Guild.
The class your´re looking for is the warrior. Just play it no Pet, good AoE, rangedmg 2 weapons.
Now i know why our Bows are a little bit to weak. To make sure who want´s to play a real nature´s girl/guy with pet and who wan´t to play a “pew pew pew Headshot! pew pew Sniper” class.And something i have to correct. Martial mastery and twohanded training together would be nice.
But it should be in nature magic not skirmishing. For a dps reason, yes.
Cause in skimishing their are some strong traits affecting your pet.
And in nature´s magic u can trait something what should be baseline. Fortifying Bond.This and the 25minor makes natures magic rly strong for dps builds. On the other hand, off-handed mastery is in Wilderness survival tree.
I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY A WARRIOR, I WANT TO PLAY A RANGER AS IT IS DESCRIPED WHEN I CREATE A RANGER. I WANT MY GUILD MATES TO TELL ME, PLEASE COME WITH A LONGBOW RANGER, AND NOT BE THE CLASS EVVVVVVVERRRRRY ONE IS JOKING ABOUT IN CHAT AND TEAMSPEAK. I AM NOT A WARRRRRRRRRRRIOR. FIX THE RANGER DEAR CLASS DESIGNERS, OR GO CREATING A HELLO KITTY GAME.

No pun intended. As many have said these guys are in an interesting position. In some ways they can be very strong, but everytime I play my ranger this way it feel like it comes up a little bit short. I think this is because they are lacking a few things as either additional tools for greatsword or as utilities. Signets are the somewhat obvious utility choice but their effect is too varied to run a strong full signet build here. Conversely all traits associated with signets tend to increase in power the more you bring. What signets need is a good trait that synergizes with bringing a single signet, like Nature’s Voice does for shouts. This would let you bring maybe one or two signets and suppliment them with something else. One idea we talked about for Greatsword would be to take the evade off of the 3rd attack of the auto-chain and put it on swoop. This would give you a second on-demand defensive skill and instead we put something less timing based (for example a whirl finisher) on that third attack to empower it.Thanks,

How can you hope power Rangers to succeed when you still haven’t given them the tools all other power based classes seem to take for granted? The class still has no realistic options for burst or AE. Perhaps if the class offered a ton of utility I could understand offensive options being so poor, but it doesn’t have utility either. There’s a reason the Ranger class consistently ranks 8th of 8 classes in WvW. It simply doesn’t do anything.
The only 2 skills this class has for real burst is Maul and Path of Scars. Nearly every other attack for this class does roughly the same damage as our #1 skill. You then introduce traits like Remorseless and Moment of Clarity that have no real impact on anything but burst skills. Who cares if a low damage auto-attack crits or does 150% more damage? AE is just as bad. A LOT of our skills affect only 3 targets instead of 5 like real AEs. Barrage is our only real AE classwide. Given the lower damage, very limited value in cripple, and the fact that it hits 5 targets multiple times killing us due to retaliation, it’s of no real value either. What does that leave? Piercing arrows?
Worse still is the fact that nearly every single utility option this class has REQUIRES an enormous trait investment before it’s even worth slotting on our bar. Most of our signets are awful until you get 30pts in marks. Most traps are awful until you invest 30pts. Spirits are awful without 20pts next patch (but really likely 30 still). We need a 30pt trait to still have some of the worst solutions to conditions of any class in the game (mesmers have it worse, but who else?). We have no reason to get Remorseless at all. Moment of Clarity is only really useful in a hilt+bash roll. We still need 4 marksmanship traits but only have room for 2 if we plan to use a longbow despite other classes (warriors) having the same traits combined.
If you legitimately want a power based Ranger to succeed in this game you need to throw us a bone already. Something needs to change.
So So So True. The fact that we are the jocke Class of WvW is so Frustrationg. I allready hope that there will be an other mmo soon whit a real RANGer clas
No real AOE no real support for Zerg, petts diying instantly, and ghosts are like a facepalm joke equipped in WvW. The fact that i was forced by my guild to lvl up a guard or a Warrior or an ele or a nec or what ever instead of a Ranger is statemant enough. The Designers of the Ranger should never again deseign a class in any MMO. Thats my oppinion. How poor is it, that you descripe the ranger as the master of the Bow, but in fact you have to play the Ranger as a Mele in GvG WvW. The reason why the ranger was or until Dec. 10 will be OP in pvp was just a proof of ungiven attention to the class and nothing eles.
