It only ran for an hour? That was one quick poll. I don’t know what to say to you.
This has been going on for years.. Arenanet has no idea how to run a WvW and they have no interest in learning how to.
Was the poll for WvW a joke? I went to each one I was asked to vote on and each time it said the poll was not running.
This is a really good description of ET and its struggle over the past. I have played for 2 years on ET and have never been out of T8. I believe guilds would come down to 24th just to recruit. Some days we couldn’t leave our Citadel.. we deserve some time in the sun. I love ET and its people.
@Shadowfurr: We’re in your tier, because we’re still clawing up from T8 and 24th place. We’re trying and it sucks for you guys who are in this matchup facing a server that has a higher population and better coverage than you do. We don’t like it any more than you do, because we’ve been there for a very long time. We know how it feels. Oh, and we are not a band-wagon server.
ET has primarily been populated in the past by the same never-say-die defenders that we always have. We’re a tenacious lot that just never gave up despite all the MONTHS of being the lowest-ranked server. Many people have come and gone from ET. We had guilds who transferred in, poached our players, then left back to the tiers they came from. We’ve had guilds that transferred in, couldn’t face the adversity, so they left for greener pastures. We’ve also had guilds who formed, wanted a different gaming experience, and left to find it elsewhere.
Through all that, a core group of us stuck it out. We weathered the storm. We built a foundation that (I hope) is friendly to new people coming to join us. We built and fine-tuned a server-wide TeamSpeak, website, and public community-guild. We’ve invested “blood, sweat, and tears” into this Community.
Now we are on a bit of a winning streak. That foundation that a lot of us built is helping to draw in new players and new guilds, and yes the occasional fairweather. Our population is growing and it has directly resulted in winning matchups. My hope is that we’ll continue to be a positive place and we’ll continue to have a great community as we grow. As long as we can keep doing the things that have always made us great, I feel like the word will spread and new people will show up to become part of our family. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. We’ve already seen people join ET and then “advertise” to bring in other new people form other servers. Evidently, they liked what they saw and thought others could enjoy ET as well.
Make no mistake though, we’re in an uphill battle. We’ve faced lots of adversity and that same core of us isn’t scared of facing more of it. We’ll be here if we’re at the top. We’ll be here if we’re at the bottom. We’re the epitome of that frog that’s grasping the crane by the neck, never letting go, even while being devoured.
Some folks can’t take the heat. Some folks lose for a few weeks, a month, maybe two. They flee because it’s no longer easy.
That’s not us. We’ve fought tooth and nail and we’ll always keep fighting.
Finally, a HUGE thanks to those veteran ET’ers. The ones that stuck through the thick and the thin and never quit. Another HUGE thanks to those who have recently joined us, the folks we now call brother and sister, and fight alongside every day. I hope that we can continue to grow as a community, be unified, and fight well together.
This is a good post. Props to you guys at ET. I wish you all the best on your journey up. Good luck in your T5 matchup!
ET has some of the best game players online. Great commanders and militia that can take on twice their number and come out smiling.
We also have a great forum and community.
ET would love to welcome one or more oceanic guilds. Even single players are most welcome. If you ever wanted to make a difference in WvW here is your chance
Can anyone tell me any other WvW games? I’m looking for something online and no monthly costs? Maybe capture the flag type stuff and not a megaserver?
- The megaserver nature of EoTM ensures it has no community.
- No community means there’s no “team spirit.”
- No team spirit means no one cares about winning or losing.
- No one caring about winning or losing means 24/7 karma train.
EoTM’s massive failure is actually a great lesson on the importance of community. Of course Anet didn’t learn that when they used EoTM as a beta for megaservers.
Perfect example of no community. So many of my friends have left since megaserver. I feel I will follow. Areanet does not promote community, team spirit or decent behaviour of fellow players. Next game plz.
Need more oceanic players for ET.
If your after more than a cake walk then ET is your server. Every person makes a difference. We like new people and are very willing to teach if your new to wvw ET is your server.
For that meaty fight that requires thinking ET is your server.
And it is true we have some of the longest serving vets in the game still running around with Nob. Loyalty! Teamwork! Community!
Nob great guild and great bunch of people. ET is lucky to have you all.
On the other hand I don’t like zombies all that much. Npc in WvW in my opinion is just a nuisance. we are supposedly there for guild wars .. pve is for risen. Just my thoughts.
Coming from a server at the bottom of the wvw list I would change quite a lot. I have server loyalty which is why I am still down that list. I also like my friends and are loyal to them. I believe that is something we are losing with this megaserver. Loyalty and friendship. No matter how much we say we don’t care if we win or not… day after day.. month after month.. year after year of being stomped takes its toll. I don’t want to win that much, I just want to be able to hold our homeland.
Things I would change…
Outnumbered buff to actually buff the outnumbered. Bloodlust to go. Its a waste of time. If you have enough people to take it.. then you don’t need it. No suppressed map chat. Give us a decent reliable way to report hacking. Get rid of the npc or at least move them out of well traveled routes. I would make a forum that was of use as we all know this one is just a way for the unmentionables to keep us hostiles in their place.
I would give loot bags to defenders for staying in homeland and wxp for everything they did. I would stop the hacking, especially the hacking. There are too many things to put a name to that they are doing these days. Yeah I would hire a WvW dev team that actually gave a care. A team that responded to its player base. Gratz to all those that did well in the tourney. Gratz especially to my teammates for there was never a greater bunch of misfits in any mmo. My hat is off to you guys and I bow.
Ive played since close to the start and have spent up to 8 to 10 hours a day in WvW.
I have never seen a dev in the lower tiers.
Even if they do pop in I doubt they would get a good idea of what it was like because they don’t stay long enough.
I won’t put what changes need making because it is my opinion that it would make no difference whatsoever. Anet does as Anet wants regardless.
Anet does not care if anyone is happy or not. As long as the money keeps rolling in.
Now I am unable to play with lag issues. Literally unable to play.
Until the megaserver my 1 year old computer was handling the game extremely well.
So Anet my money stops rolling in.
A lot of you are missing a point.
Not everybody has a top of the line computer with decent internet service. We don’t all live in the glorious United States and for some of us the massing of players has made it impossible to function with the agonizingly slow lag issues in WvW, PvE etc. When I bought this game it worked. Now it does not. I care about community a great deal and miss my friends but more importantly I care if I can actually play the game! I’m all for progress as long as it’s good for all. Get it? GOOD FOR ALL.
Now its broke…you broke my game. Now I log in and make coffee and a sandwich while my screen loads. I try to participate. Operative word, TRY.
This is all bs about posting your feedback. If you think they will listen to you then I’m sorry. But I felt I had to put some of you in my picture. This idea you have that it’s people just not liking change is rubbish and it’s not all about those people who like community. For some it’s actually being able to play the game!
No community left.
Lag.
Loot lottery.
Disconnection.
That’s what I paid for?
Community?
We have no community any more. This was so important to so many. Where are our friends? I chose to stay on a low populated server for several reasons. Community. Less lag. We behave better when we know each other. Server pride. No queues. Challenge. Many worked for long periods to build these communities and its been taken away with no real consideration for them or languages other than English, role players, Guilds, WvW people and others.
I am afraid this may be the final straw for me. No issue I have had since launch has been addressed properly which leads me to believe there is no real listening going on.
I only come here now to help out my friends but if I cant find them, what is the point?
I come from a server that had low population and while it could be nice to have someone help at certain times, my experience of the megaserver so far has been:
1) Incredible lag and being unable to use skills.
2) Waiting times increased coming into all maps to twice what it was.
3) At least 3 disconnections per day and up to 8 disconnections per day.
4) Missing the loot from event chests as champ etc is dead before my lag infected toon can make contact now a regular happening (3 chests today).
5) Events over before you can get to them.
6) Huge increase in gold sellers private messaging me.
7) Communications issues. Messages being lost in spammed trivia.
8) But most importantly, my community has suffered severely and I rarely see friends and people I know anymore. My own husband tonight, when we left WvW was sent to a different server even though we were in our own guild. My community was lovely and I feel a real sadness that it appears gone. We were only small but we lost sleep to help each other and made time to get stuff done for each other.
I feel if the bosses and events had not been made so hard then smaller groups would still be able to manage them and continue to play during the non NA time periods. Once they were made so hard that they required a zerg to complete, the Oceanic time zone fell off on our server from a few to zero. I still remember doing Jormag with 6 people. I understand a lot of people were lonely and could not manage going solo. I understand this. But dumping us all together?
So I myself, would prefer to have a little difficulty finding someone to help me rather than the above. I feel this was a huge mistake and also agree with many that our opinions are not taken into consideration. I believe this megaserver will be the downfall of server identity and for many people the final straw. This is my experience.

“We’ve done so much for so long with so little, we can now do everything with nothing.
This post by Shademehr is so true. The base core of players stay and fight for Erendon Terrace because they are proud to call ET their home. They are proud of their friends, proud of their guilds and proud of our Commanders.
We make sacrifices of time and effort for each other. So if you are not the type of person that does this then ET is probably not for you.
We don’t have a lot of people. We don’t have the coverage at all times. We don’t like bullying, we don’t like nay sayers. We nearly always play outnumbered and we get mowed by other servers. Almost immediately after this happens we are out there again with our never say die attitude rebuilding and recapping our lands. We bicker occasionally amongst ourselves but ET-ans know that we do this and then move on. We encourage rather than pull down. We fight rather than give in.
I stay because of the people. We are loyal.
Ps and mostly I like it when my commander raises me.
My server has those Commanders too :/ or Karma train Kommanders.
Yes fight with your friends jman.7415. My own Erendon Terrace is well know for its community and loyalty and I love it. Server pride is alive and well on ET. Building something and fighting for it. We don’t always win, we are down the ladder a good way and we have our squabbles and suffer from low moral at times but we love our WvW. This, for me, is what it’s all about, I would not consider transferring and losing this just so I could win.
I encountered the same spirit when fighting against Devona’s Rest and Kain this week. I have great respect for these fighters. They were awesome battles. Even when outnumbered and not doing so well in points they didn’t give up. jman.7415 keep at it things always change.
