Why Charr are bigger than Norn?

Norn simply aren’t as big as they were in GW1.

Min height female human vs norm (let’s just say max height)

In GW2 even a max height norn wouldn’t look that big compared to a small human.

Well my female human ele is as short as possible and female norn as tall as possible are twice her size roughly. Soooooooooooooooo there is difference.

Difference, yes, but not as much difference as there was in GW1.

Rifle or bow

I’m more a fan of the rifle. An auto attack that stacks bleeds. A cripple shot. A quick rapid fire skill that hits hard. A good solid 8 vulnerable with 1 shot. A interrupt knockback for melee, and of course a powerful burst shot. Its just what a warrior needs when they have to step back from melee range to recover.

Bow is great and all but when I’m retreated from melee range because I’m low on health the idea of throwing down aoe and risking pulling multiple targets on me is not what I’m looking for. plus its usual bosses that require me to take range breaks so its better in my mind to have the weapon better for single target burst damage.

Everything you said is kind of how I feel about the weapons. I like the rifle for what it is, but I have to say, overall, bow is just a bit better, especially for PVE.

I still find the rifle very fun to use none-the-less.

Pretty fun to watch, but I hate to mute it after the first video. The rap lowered my IQ a few points

It’s going to be a Norn sized patch – fairly large but not gigantic

wow, I did not remember it being that extreme… well, that is a giant girl indeed.

I’m pretty big myself. Twice the height of this human in fact.

You’re still not AS big sadly. Also look at the skill challenge NPC that’s right in that area. She’s bigger than you are. Biggest Norn in the game for whatever reason :/

Thief vuln on crit overpowered, same investment as Warrior but no ICD.

Don’t forget it also 50% where warrior one is 33% :/

Where is the ICD listed for rending strikes? I can’t find a reference to it anywhere (can’t check in game atm).

I have no idea where it’s listed unless it’s in game…though I haven’t seen it there either.

PvE: Burst skills worth using?

in Warrior

Only a few select burst skills are even worth using…

Even then, probably not worth it when you have Berserker’s power. I don’t like the burst skills and I wish they had been overhauled.

Greatsword Stance?

Oh, I may have understood the term “greatsword” wrong :P.

I assumed greatswords to be massive, and like twice as heavy as a longsword. Because of that assumption, I also assumed greatswords were absolutely useless in most situations, and reall clunky to use :P.

But I guess ‘greatsword’ is just another word, and has the same meaning as longsword. I still think most ‘greatswords’ in gw2 are kind of oversized, though. I feel silly for not realizing it’s the same thing xD.

There’s nothing wrong with Nebenhut, I actually used that exact site before, and tried it out, but I prefer other guard positions :P.

AFAIK “Greatsword” is a made-up word, or at least a word that did not exist before modern times. The correct (historical) term for a sword you need 2 hands to wield is Longsword.

D&D is a major offender in this case because it refers to 1-handed swords as longswords, and probably one of the main reasons people get medieval weapon technology terms mixed up.

Yup, I actually just realised greatsword pretty much IS a longsword. I assumed greatswords were these oversized anf weighted swords that gav you spear-like range… Which would be impractical. The way games portray “greatswords” also makes them look massively oversized.

Greatswords are NOT made up and are most definitely not a long sword…

Take a look at these:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/b/bb/Darksteel_Greatsword.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/e/e0/Aureate_Highlander_Sword.jpg

Both are quite practical and realistic compared to real life swords that were used. Maybe just a bit too large, but nothing more. The 2nd one’s handle is pretty long, but not ridiclious.

Greatswords ARE a thing. A longsword is 1handed.

Why are MMO characters called "toons?"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a cartoon character that was in full 3D so “toon” doesn’t fit most any MMORPG and I’ll never use it for that reason alone.

Some people seem to be forgetting that after the patch you can now get 2 sigils on greatswords (along with longbow/rifle).

Probably won’t make GS superior to axe, but it’ll be quite close.

Honestly, if you count on the new “Dual Wield agility” trait to boost pure axe builds, you’re gonna be disapointed… like a lot. It’s only 10% percent attack speed increase : chop takes 0,25 seconds to activate, double chop probably a bit more et triple chop takes 1,50 seconds.
A difference of ten percent will be pretty invisible to notice, even in DPS output.
I’ll never put 30 points in Arms for this useless junk and I admit I’m kind of surprised by the people who are convinced that this new trait is going to make us warrior stick to only one weapon set.

I agree, I don’t think it’s too useful and I don’t know why some people seem to want it SOOO badly.

But then again maybe there’s some other new trait I haven’t heard about and which is good ?

Exactly what I’m thinking. There’s a few new traits for every class so I’m willing to bet there’s better ones, ones that don’t involve axes. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a good trait for every popular melee weapon….or every warrior weapon.

Current greatsword berserker pve build

I feel this is pretty good for PvE stuff in general, but maybe while leveling put 15 into defense trait for adrenal health if you need more healing. That skill is underrated IMO.

That said, why the 5 extra points into Discipline instead of into Defense? Is 5 seconds really that big of a deal? You could put those 5 points into another trait line and get something I think is far more useful. 100 toughness above 90% hp isn’t too bad, nor is extra toughness while reviving.

Human vs Norn Warrior

Tamryu.5978

My Norn Warrior… excuse me, BARBARIAN, will always be my favourite character. Just fits together very well. She’s so fit. xD
http://i.imgur.com/EBXRzPk.jpg

She’s beautiful and very much capable of handling whatever comes her way! Perfect example of a Norn, male or female.

As a warrior, I cannot stand super tiny races in this role. It just feels…off. It’s why you never see short warriors in movies, it doesn’t fit and it looks odd. The hobbits were not warriors for anybody who’s thinking that

It’s true though that being super small does give you some slight advantages in combat, but you know, that’s for cowards! Go play another class if you wish to “hide” by being tiny.

Female Voice

in Norn

Posted by: Tamryu.5978

I like the voice, it sounds feminine, but not so much as a “girly girl”. I hated those kinds of girls growing up, but luckily neither then Norn or Humans sound like them. You know what I mean, the kind of prom date sounding voice. It’s the voice of uselessness to me…

The female norns sound quite capable of handling themselves so the voice fits very well. Maybe it’s a LITTLE deep, but they are like 9 feet tall so maybe that’s just to be expected. It most definitely doesn’t sound manly though.
