And could we please please please get the gold projectile animation for barrage! All my other arrows are cool. That animation would be sweet if the arrows were gold and flowery too!
Best part about this is being able to use my signet of stones 6 second invulnerability untraited. I get to drop Protect Me and add use that instead, allowing my pet to continue to fight AND i get extra passive toughness. This is great, and the only change that I personally will notice.
(SPvP) Any suggestions? I like being able to dish out quite a few condis, while still laying down a decent amount of direct damage with the sword. Shortbow is really for surviving and laying down condis. Only problem I’ve run into so far is I can’t hold the point – because I’m moving around so much. I still kill the guy 1 v 1, but they nuetralize the point

Don’t forget the score updates for those of us that work the night shift!
Just finished off my rangers look. What do ya’ll think? He’s the one on the left. The one on the right is Laranthir of the Wild, the vigil’s second in command.
My finally finished Sylvari Ranger standing next to my favorite Sylvari NPC, Laranthir of the Wild:
Yeah, it already shows an animation for arrows, which fall and stick out of the ground, as well as the red ring.
Heck yeah! Maybe we’ll get some love from the devs here soon. I can’t imagine them not doing this at some point. Seems like maybe they just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Just got Kudzu, and was really bummed to see that it didn’t have the projectile effect for the ranger skill barrage. All my arrows are flowers, except the arrows for barrage. Thought that would be the coolest longbow skill to have kudzu for, seeing as the arrows all land in the ground, and look like flowers. Any chance this will be changed in the future?
I go 30/20/20/0/0 with Longbow and Sword/Warhorn, with Knights armor (Po/Pr/To). I won’t do as much damage as the condition damage, but I’ve never been a fan of dots. The toughness gives me enough survivability to take on most classes. I really like the play style a lot though, and it’s not incredibly underpowered, so that may be a route for you to go too.
Try using a different pet. I had the same problem with bears and one other pet, I cannot remember which (maybe Moas?). When I hit level 80, my bear pet would run up to a mob, I would not even attack it, and the mob would ignore my pet and come for me. This was a change in a patch, I believe to help with the botting problem. I use the wolf now and don’t have as big a problem with it.
It also depends on how long someone takes to destroy the controller. I’ve been in groups where this takes awhile. It should not.
There already are yearly achievements. They are called regular achievements. The reward is pride. That, and a little icon shows up on the bottom right hand side of your screen when you complete it.
They probably are trying to keep the money supply down by having us buy tools. That’s the same reason we have a fee for using the BLTC and stuff like that.
Wanted to start out by saying this is by far the best mmorpg I have played. I love the world, I love the classes, and the gameplay. I think the holiday events have been spectacular. The best part about mmorpg’s is that things are constantly being upgraded. So… here’s an idea I thought up the other day.
I’ve been thinking about how a lot of rangers have been wanting the change the skills on Longbow to add some sort of kill shot (if you don’t believe, check like every post on the ranger forum), but couldn’t decide which skill I’d replace to get that. So, I was thinking, it might be cool for their to be a 6th weapon skill, an ‘elite’ weapon skill per say. Just an idea.
It could be unlockable through a series of tasks; for example, the first could be you have to get 1000 kills with said weapon. Then, you might get a letter from your herald or mentor telling you that word is out about your skill with said weapon, and that you should seek out ‘insert name here’, a known master of said weapon. I think you guys can see where this is going. It could lead to a series of quests, that ends with you unlocking a 6th skill for PvE and WvWvW. There could be a bunch of really cool weapon skills added to the game, and since every weapon could get one, hopefully ANET would be able to keep the weapons somewhat balanced. Would be a fun way to add some content and diversity to end game play, all the while adding cool new skills for characters to utilize.
Would love to here what you all think on this matter. Good Idea?
I run GW2 on Windows 8 on my laptop. It seems to run fine.
Would love to see some sort of GW2 adapted druid class – would summon and shapeshift and use nature magic and such. However, I agree with the other posters that there will probably be a heavy armor wearing class before anything like a druid comes about.
Also, since I did not answer your question… lol, I really like this skill… but only when fighting groups… it works well with the longbows number 4 shot… it pushes back everything rather then just one of the mobs. In pvp, it is not as effective because people are not often standing on top of one another.
I like this tree a lot for the added power… also, I sometimes use the extra longbow range or the trait that allows you to receive bonus from activating signets for the 6 seconds of invulnerability in pvp.
Just depressed by the inability of our best stun breaking ability to actually break stuns. That is all. Love my ranger… do not love getting stuck in a stun and using my Lightening Reflexes and seeing it do nothing.
Just wanted to chime in on my opinion of the ranger patch notes. I scrolled through most of the posts to read what the dev had to say, and then skipped over most of the rest of them, so this is more in response to him and the general patch info. I have actually been okay with my ranger since day 1. I enjoy playing him, even though I know if I run into a talented thief or warrior, I will probably get obliterated. I enjoy using my longbow, and I like a few of the utility skills. I was, however, excited to see what they would do with this patch, so that I might be able to adjust my build more and make myself more viable in PVP. Usually, I am pretty cool with minor changes, but I will admit that I was a little disappointed with the changes made to rangers. However, a quick response from Jon was greatly appreciated, especially when a lot of people make some many personal attacks on developers. The points he made were right on – pet mechanics are bad and should be better, as well as the need for improvements to signets and shouts. At least he was willing to respond, and is working on it. I’ll continue to enjoy the game, and look forward to future changes!
My sylvan hound/wolf combo has no problem tanking. I’m in full exotics at level 80. I even attack first, and then use longbows push back and while they are running for me, they turn and attack my wolf instead. The only issue is that they do not have the survivability of the bear, which was nice.
I posted a thread about this a little while ago. After a patch a little while ago… not the last one, but the one before it, my pet stopped tanking. After a little bit of testing, it turns out that this was only the case for the bear and the moa pet. I now use a wolf, and it tanks fine… I just have to kill whatever it is tanking quickly, seeing as it doesn’t have the kind of health that my bear had. I’m sure it is a bug that will hopefully be fixed in the near future, and then us bear users will be able to go back to using them in PVE… until then, find a different pet to use.
I have a sylvan hound named Leaf Ericson. Also, my Brown Bears name is Mr. Snuggles.
Update: I tried it with other pets… it seems that the only ones that no longer tank are the bear pets and the moa pets. Had no problems with wolfs or drakes.
Yeah, it used to be like that for me up to lvl 80… even when I was farming frostgorge, my bear had no problem holding aggro. Often time I run my pet in, and don’t even hit the mob, and he still somehow aggros straight to me, and ignores my pet… its rather frustrating, because that was one of the perks that I liked about being a ranger. Anyone know if speccing beastmaster would help?
I was pretty upset after the last patch because I felt like the shortbow was nerfed quite a bit and my ability to put bleeds on a mob has been lessened… however, I’ve started to realize that, while my pet used to tank mobs, even at lvl 80, it now no longer takes aggro… ever. I think I was able to stack bleeds more easily (in pve that is) because the mob was always facing my pet, and not running after me non stop. I’ve been dealing with that by being mobile, but I’ve used a bear since I started playing so I did have a tank with me at all times… except now, I’m not sure how to make mobs aggro to him… is this working as intended? Or am I doing something wrong? I have 0 points in Beastmastery… but had no problem pre-patch…. just wanted to see if maybe I needed to move some points there, or wait for a fix… any ideas?
