And no, I don’t mean because of my internet.
Myself and, according to map chat upon relogin, many others experienced this just now with the Sparkfly Fen invasion. As Scarlet went into ‘downed mode’ (her health bar was the deep red of such in PvP and WvW) we got DC’d. Flat out, with no warning lag or anything. Logged back in, no rewards and no achievement.
Kind of removes the will to spend the best part of an hour doing these events when this happens.
Hobo-tron is the best written character in the Living Story. Pure hilarity!

Surely, SURELY, the sensible thing with the achievements would be to only have to support one candidate to get them all.
Having to support both of them just to tick off some boxes (and get associated rewards) will break the ‘story’ for lots of people and kind of ruins the idea of supporting one or the other…
And surely you don’t actually NEED to get all 12 achievements if you feel that it would hurt the story?
People that actually cares about the story are most likely not that bothered with the achievements anyway.
No, you don’t need to. However, with new rewards for achievement points and the fact they are temporary driving people to do them I felt that it was an invalid argument and no-one would use it anymore.
Oh well, seems I was wrong about the latter. Remember that a lot of people use the achievements as a checklist for doing all the content.
Still, I would agree that those who are bothered about the story won’t mind too much. Still, it may stop others from being interested, as they may just go ‘Oh, I need to support both to get (insert reward here) therefore I don’t need to worry about the story’. Somewhat less engaging than it could have been, I feel.

Yes, but Asura are awfully ugly and pretty horrible to look at.
If we get to see Dwayna… Oh Mama!
Afraid to say that’s the number of points you get for crossing each checkpoint, not the number of the checkpoint.
I don’t live in Lions Arch (none of us do), so how can we be true citizens?
To be honest, I don’t see why I should help LA get an agreement with the Bazaar (which is essentially what this ‘election’ amounts to) when I should be negotiating on behalf of the Grove! (Or helping Caithe to do so, as the Zephyrites love Destiny’s Edge)
The Caledon Forest is the hardest jumping puzzle. However, the one in Dredgehaunt cliffs and the one in Queensdale are not jumping puzzles so its possible you could get them.
I don’t think the price of Quartz will go that high. All stat armour is certainly appealing to people, but I think there will be an abundance of it, especially once some people have crafted their set.
Of course, I have heard it said that you can get the charged version out of the home node, which adds alot of value to getting it. If you can, go for it.
I’ve thought for a while that the story (both living and personal) needs more betrayel, plot twists, characters that aren’t good, but aren’t evil. Selfish, egotistical, frightened, take your pick.
Canach was almost there in that he was trying to be good but ended up being an idiot. But every other character has to be awesome. Except Logan…
Vote Evon Gnashblade, and we’ll see dirty tricks, corruption, murders, violence, possible riots and general misbehaviour. In a world of goody two shoes, that is what I want.
And I’m the guy that likes Treaherne…
My original thoughts were that it is an alliance between the Charr enemy (Flame legion) and the Norn enemy (Sons of Svanir), mostly because one is flame and the other is frost.
Plus it happens in Charr/Norn lands.
But I dont think the steam rupturing from underground is likely to be caused by them, seems too technological for either.
I assume that ‘consuming it’ means taking it home and putting it somewhere safe, rather than physically eating it…
Can I get an invite too please? Rank 2 currently
Hi Everyone,
I’ve seen a large number of people complaining about not being able to find a low level group to play the new dungeon with so…
I’m starting a ‘casual club’ for people that only want to play the dungeon because it is fun, and don’t really care about what arbitrary ‘difficulty’ they are doing. If you are interested, add me as a friend and reply here. If enough interest is gained, it may be possible to start a guild for this, which you would only choose to represent when you want to do the dungeon. This way we’d have a real time set of people to play with. Obviously a LFG system would be nice, but we must make do with what we got!
Requirements:
- Be nice!
- Do not care about what level of fractals that you do.
- Must be at least level 1! Seriously, the early levels of fractals are pretty easy, equipment and level don’t really mean much. And whilst I’d recommend at least level 30 (elite skill, and by that time you are familiar with class) I don’t actually care and hate discrimination.
- Must have pants. Decency is encouraged.
Anyone know if you can be a leader of a guild and not represent it? I kinda still want to be in my guild when not doing this.
tl;dr: If you are ‘pro’, go away. If you ask people if they have full exotics when they want to join your party, go away. If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
Bought the game due to no gear progression, very disappointed in this news.
I can only hope it’s been miscommunicated, and actually won’t be a big deal (stats only for the infinite dungeon of infinite hardness sounds OK to me).
OK, thanks for the advice everyone.
Also, ecto’s are used in crafting for the level 80 exotics (which is what I’m collecting them for, I’m a bit casual for a legendary yet :P)
Oh, and Wilbert, I prefer to do things by myself, so I don’t like to buy from the TP so much. Personal choice though, even if it is not ‘optimum’.
I have a problem I haven’t come across so far, and that is having ‘spare’ rare items. Either ones I cannot use or ones I have outgrown in level. The high level versions of these (68+, I believe) I am salvaging them into ecto for when I craft my endgame equips, but I find my bank filling up with these ‘useless’ rares.
Am I missing the point? Is there something to actually do with these that makes them so rare, or do I just vend/tp them like the more expensive green items? Is there a way to turn them into higher level rares, via the mystic forge or somesuch?
Any advice would be appreciated.
You can find them in Sparkfly Fen, from Verdant Herbs.
Not saying they drop massively often, but I got 5 in one go once.
My favourite moment so far has to be the dialogue between two asura characters that went something like:
“Your momma’s IQ is so low she…” etc.
After about a minute or two of trading insults, they ended with “Actually, your mums pretty smart” “Yeah, so’s yours”. Cracked me up then, and still smile when I think about it.
Epic moment is probably a WvW battle to defend a random fort. Went from 10/50 kills in monthly acheivement to 50/50 in an hour or so of one huge battle. Amazing!
Hello everyone.
I’m looking for a casual guild on the Aurora Glade server. I’m interested in all sides of the game currently, rather than focusing on one particular aspect.
I’m a Sylvari Ranger, roughly level 56 or so (forgot to check).
IRL, I have a job and a social life (well, a job) and so cannot play at all some days, and limited others. Apparently I’m an adult… My times would be evening GMT on weekdays and lucky dip at weekends. Simply looking for a guild with others that play at about the same time as me, preferably with some form of voice comms and a close knit group of players {i.e. not too large}.
Feel free to look me up in game if you’d like to know more, or post here if you have any questions.
