Strange that they would address ‘that’ spot.. yet let the Champ trains continue unabated.
“drop my life for a video game”
You really shouldn’t be playing MMO’s if you aren’t prepared to drop your life for a video game. Try a console game instead.
I know we’ve had a few additional bounties, but can we have some more rushes / challenges and puzzles? My guild is starting to get a bit tired of the same old events.
Anyone know if this is planned?
For personal reasons (in-guild joke which would cause much hilarity), can I please request that we have a guild rush where we are transformed into frogs? Please ANet, please?
Yeah there is a fair amount of repetition. Although we keep getting Langmars.. I much prefer proxemics. Couldn’t the RNG be adjusted to not repeat the last puzzle/rush/challenge that was assigned?
Yeah this probably is someone with a program which tells them when their buy orders are beaten. There’s periods of time where they don’t immediately respond.
Guess I’ll have to kill the profit margins and see if he’s still as keen.
I’m pretty sure I’m trying to beat a market bot at placing buy orders. Every time I put a higher buy order (on a certain range of items), it gets beaten by a buy order of 20. I try at different times of the day and it gets beaten within a couple of minutes.
Considering I refresh about ~70 buy orders across a range of levels (same item type) at a time and they all get beaten within minutes.. seems very likely to be a bot running these buy orders.
I’ve reported this through the bug report function.. (since I’ve no idea who it is)..
Anyone else seen this going on? Any other ways I could resolve it?
The WvW communities of the T1 servers are also blameless. For example, Ive been on Piken Sq. from day one (when we were a low ranked server) and now we’re T1. The WvW community here has been trying to discourage transfers explaining we have long queues for some time now.
However, the recent queue problems are unlikely to be due to transfers, but rather the new WvW achievements. PvE players are now doing more WVW as a result.
It is not their fault. They probably have been on your server just as long as you! They have an equal right to all aspects of the game.
The fault lies with ANet for introducing additional incentives at the same time as leagues.. they need to increase server capacity or introduce these overflow maps asap. Of course, these problems could die down over the next few weeks as the PvE players decide whether WvW is good for them… here’s hoping.
EDIT: A few people have responded saying, essentially, that PvErs aren’t doing WvW properly. I agree, but maybe give them a chance to learn? (In any case, they can if they so choose, play the game the way they want.) However, this is a side point. Are you honestly telling me that if the PvErs were doing WvW ‘right’, you’d be happy with the current queue times?

To those who played DaoC, there was this concept of realm pride. You felt a part of something. This is perhaps something that is sorely lacking in WvW since the only difference between one server and the next is the name. That’s it.
My guild and I have been on our server from day 1, but a lot of other guilds have come from this server or another. It seems that if a server gains ranks, then all sorts of people flock to the server to be ‘the best’, queues increase and the good guilds (often the ones responsible for the rank gain) leave for a lower pop server so they can play together.
There is much discussion about free transfers, which I think is a good idea for the lowest pop servers, but I wonder if there are mechanics that could be introduced to make us want to stay on the server?
Perhaps this could be as simple as special titles that can only be obtained by active participation on that server. You transfer and you lose the title. The title would be specific to that server (i.e. with the name of the server in the title). Then when you have that title on people know you’ve been with the server a long time.
Also, is there any way that each server could have some sort of theming? Each server has its own unique finishing move.. again only obtainable by sticking with it for some time.
If Anet were willing to devote some resources it would be nice if each server had its own castle style. I’m not talking about physical changes to the models, just different brick/stone textures and maybe server flags alongside the guild flags on towers and keeps. (The bricks dont change when its taken over, they just affect what look your home BL structures and your corner of EB look like at start of matchup)
There are probably other ideas I haven’t thought of.. but seems to me that little aesthetic things that can be earned through loyalty would vastly improve the WvW experience.
Of course ANet will have to balance this against their financial desire to allow gems to be bought for transfers. The above could be seen as actively discouraging the purchase of gems. On the other hand, keeping the playerbase happy and keeping them playing the game may be better in the long run.
Yeah, never had any crashes since launch.. a few disconnects, but not a computer crash. Now ive had 5 this week. Usually in WvW, but one was in a fractal. Updated drivers, but still happening.
Mumble, Teamspeak or Ventrillo are all voice communication software that people use to communicate with their guild. You only need to pay for a server, unless someone can host one themselves.
Now that guild events are part of the game we now have our first bit of content requiring …..well the guild. Any time you have events requiring larger #‘s of people you need an easy way to say “Hey, be on at inset time for X event” not like it wasn’t needed before but i would argue the need is growing now and becoming more important.
You mean like, guild chat?
No, obviously not like guild chat. Calendars should be relatively easy to implement.. with all this focus on guilds.. Im baffled why we don’t have them in a 6 month old game.
Yes it is much better.. ever since the laurels were introduced the dailies have become very important to complete. Guildies are making sure they do dailies before doing anything with the rest of us which has noticably disrupted socialisation and group play.
Personally, I wish the dailies were either easier or didnt have important currency like laurels. Maybe give us a ‘weekly’ instead which gives 7 laurels.
Dailies were supposed to reward you for playing each day, without it being something you had to pay much attention to. So if you just did normal stuff for an hour, you’d get the daily. This hasn’t been the case. The required tasks are too specific and PvE focused. Which must be a pain for those heavily into WvW. Before laurels missing a daily was no biggie. Now its serious and its affecting gameplay.
So whilst i’m happier with the recent change.. it doesn’t go nearly far enough to resolve the issues with the system.
Surely the formula should be:
(power * chance of no crit) + (power * chance of crit * crit multiplier)
(1986 * 0.61) + (1986 * 0.39 * 2.19)
divided by
(1918 * 0.63) + (1918 * 0.37 * 2.09)
Which comes to 2907.7 / 2691.5 which is 1.08. i.e. that means approx an 8% increase in power.

I’m gonna chime in here too. Its been several months now and we have a pretty poor interface for guilds. (I seem to remember ANet saying that they were going to offer us something pretty good for guilds prior to release). I say, pretty poor.. but I really am being polite. I love the game overall, but this really needs serious attention.
There’s a reason I haven’t done many dungeons. I DONT WANT TO. I don’t like them, I haven’t in any MMO and it’s the reason I quit WoW vanilla. I’m happy for them to be available to other players, but there’s something seriously wrong with the game when it forces me to participate in content I do not enjoy in order to be the most competitive. Extremely concerned and disappointed that it looks like Ascended gear can only be obtained through this method.
