Team Aggression
Retired Red Guard
Who got the first guild arena?
I’m stuck on temple also
I’ve been playing thief since beta of gw2 and dd ele as 2nd class since release of gw2.
I got tons of duel exp vs dd eles, as Lord Asura, Intigo and other top dd eles.
Like previous posts says. The fight are in heavy favor to dd ele, but you can still win if he do a mistake and you play perfectly.
This is from a d/p pov. (both from spvp and wvw)
You have to hit every steal, if you miss one to blind or whatever, stealth and reset the fight until steal is up. (unless the ele is on low hp).
When you know he have Armor of Earth off cd, save your steal until he use it, you can bait him to use it with basi venoms. You also wanna time your steal if possible so you steal armor of earth when he swap to earth attunement. So you take all of his protection. That’s the time you wanna play really aggressive, he wont have protection but you do.
Save Ice Shard until he have done all his condi clears in water attunement (water 5 and water dodge). And it’s really important that you hit all your Ice Shards and don’t do 2 Ice Shards in a row (in case he condi clear it with traits or cleansing fire)
Always when he swap to fire, be very careful to not get hit by anything. And be ready to dodge burning speed + lightning flash.
Try to daze his water 2 and water 5, to give him less sustain and kitten up his rotation.
Keep blinding the ele with Shadow Shot, (in a smart way, you don’t want to spam) so he misses most of his stuff.
You want to save Shadowstep for updraft, because you can’t dodge updraft unless you know it’s coming.
Try to think a step ahead also, so you can predict what the ele will do. Most eles, are doing the same rotation all the time, so it’s easy to read what they will do. But you also have to notice when they are camping an attunement. That’s when they are up to something tricky. For example Earthquake + Lightning Flash into Fire burst.
In my opinion it’s always fun to 1v1 a dd ele as thief. Because then you get the chance to show that you can outplay someone that is playing a class with heavy favor to them.

This can’t be solved with the community only. Watch all new game released. There is a lot of guilds who start to play a game and expect good large scale fights (15-25 vs 15-25). That’s what a lot of guilds are looking for in a game. And when they see its bad combat/support of it, they stop playing the game and if more and more guilds stop then in the end there’s nothing to fight.
So if Arenanet would find the support of those large scale fights so they are like the players want it to be and market about it for HoT. I’m pretty sure a lot of guilds would come back and probably stay (if support is good, you already have the amazing combat). You will be amazed when you notice how many players there is that is looking for just that in new games. And if you can keep those you will make a lot of profit from it.

I totally agree with Sabull and Tyldor.
The reason ’’gvg’s’’ started was because of the community from Warhammer that had raids of 24 and everyone were roaming with those numbers. (That took it from Dark Age of Camelot 8v8 roaming groups, because max size of a group was 8 and the ’’raids’’ on DAoC were 200man blobs, because no raid size)
In GW2 there is no cap or guidance for correct raid size. What we need is some kind of cap of a raid so guilds raid with only a set number (20). And still get even fights (you have to expect some trolls adding)when roaming. Some of the most fun fights I’ve had is when we face a guild with similar numbers while useing the map to your advantage.
The problem with ’’gvg’s/scrims’’ lately on eu. Is that you have to organize the fights with each other, to choose a place to fight and when. And that ends up with guilds don’t want to fight other guild. From a Team Aggressions point of view, some days, we could roam on a borderland with guilds scrimming each other. But no of the guild wanted to fight us and if we would engage, they would just teleport away. So it just ends up with us running around fighting nothing for some hour and then ppl logout.
And then you have those less experienced guilds, that already know they will lose if they will scrim any of the top guilds. And then probably there’s some members there who don’t see the point of losing. So they end up not trying at all. From other way, this is the reason why we scrim on ruins – whats the point of running around the map when you can just meet up with the single guild that can and wants to challenge you.
All this would be solved with Arenanet supporting some kind of raid size. So guilds would start to roam and fight all over the map with equal numbers. Those less experienced guilds can try to have the better/surprise engage with environment on their side. To beat the top guilds. And that would probably boost the moral in the lesser experienced guild a lot. With ’’gvg’s/scrims’’ that aren’t possible.
It would also make the wvw map more ’’alive’’.
Something else that would be nice from Arenanet would be something that promotes your guild for fighting. Like Warhammer for example, you have banners of the top guilds
in the capital cities of who have killed the most this week/month. GW2 need something that promote guild raids on wvw, to make guilds want to go out and raid in wvw and fight others. (Leaderboards arent the answer to this) It could be something discussed about what would be the best solution to make guilds ’proud’’ of what they did in wvw. Even if they arent a top guild/hardcore guild. (Could probably merge this for all solo roamers also so they feel they are getting something from it, most solo kills this week for example)
I’ve pretty much tried to help lesser experienced guilds. Since we started with ’’gvg’s’’ in gw2. And I think more ppl should think about what Tyldor said with his post. Having more top guilds helping those lower tiers guild to improve. So the average skill of all guilds increase. It will in the end get more guilds that compete to be ‘’the best guild spot’’. Also the better average guilds are the less they have to resort to blobbing (or rage quit) against pugblobs.
But giving guilds the exact builds you are using in a top guild won’t help them much as it comes down to the skill use the most. You have to get an understanding why and how you are using that build. When can I add more zerker pieces to my build? When should I go more tanky? If you just use a build because the top guilds are using it. But you don’t understand why exactly you’re using X trait or why you are using those stats on your armor. You wont be able to improve with your build.
But when you got an understanding of how the build works you and you have other guildies that understand their builds, that’s when you can start to improve and optimize your gameplay together. And if you can’t figure something out something then just ask. Like Sabull said. It can be just anything. ‘’What weapon do I engage with’’ ‘’How do you stealth blast your whole raid’’ ‘’Why do ppl rather use X trait rather than Y’’ nothing is a stupid question.
If you play 2/6/0/0/6 right, there’s np to survive and you can still 1v3+ if you face bads. While SA is abit easier to fight outnumbred I still prefer CS because it takes more skill to play and I feel more useful than perma stealth SA.
You wont lack dmg with any spec, its just a matter of how fast you want to kill your target, if you stealth a lot with SA you’ll get a lot of might.
If you play together with someone you should go with CS because you will be more useful than you would be with SA

It’s 4 different maps with keeps, towers and supply camps where 3 different servers fight each other. Dunno how to explain it but I hope this helps
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_versus_World
gw2 have 2 pvp modes spvp (Structured PvP) or WvW (World vs World). spvp can be compared to bg’s in wow, while WvW is more of open pvp.
I havent leveled a thief in ages but I would probably try to get at least 3 points in Acrobatics for more dodges and swiftness on dodge and I would get 2 points in Deadly Arts to get Mug trait for more dmg and survival. And 2 points in Trickery to get the trait Thrill of the crime. If you feel you dont need the extra dodges just focus on Critical Strikes for more dmg instead of acrobatic.
For dungeon build on lvl 80. I recommend you to read this guide. Even if you’re leveling and arent 80 yet its still worth reading
Asura if you wanna be a harder target (but not really that big difference)
If you wanna play wvw I would prefer Human for Avatar of Melandru elite, so you can get stability and rezz your allies in stealth.
I would probably go with something similar to this
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQRAqa4YlsMp0pFOx7J8PNBNRtdGsAVo3hxXUGaFAA-TZREwAHOBA42fAwBBAbZgBPBAA
You have 100% crit chance with unload when you have fury. You can also swap trait for 7% crit when you’re behind or on the side.
And if you stay pistol more than going melee and play it safe, you wont have problem with low armor that you’re talking about. You’ll have good sustain because of IP, and you’ll deal good dmg with unload.
Reason I went d/d is because you would probably stay in pistol most of the time just to be safe and when you need to burst someone, you got the burst from d/d or if some melee are on you all the time, you can easy C&D + backstab or just C&D and swap to pistol and burst from range again.
I get the same error code same with 42:0:9001:4409 now and then.
This started to happen when the patch came (build 43170).
I’m not able to play the game at all and can’t even log in, sometimes I get in but I’m stuck on the loading screen into the map
Don’t use the 10/30/0/0/30 for WvW. Use 0/30/30/10/0
10/30/0/0/30 works really well in WvW also. But if you’re new to d/p I would say it’s better to start with 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/30/30/10/0 until you have learnt how to play it.
Also get Lyssa runes for condi clear and boons for when ever you need. I think using shortbow is enough mobility for not going travler runes as some thiefs do
I would start with 10 in earth for the 10% dmg in 600 range.
Then I would go fire 10% dmg while in the attument and stay in that attument while you dps with the conjure wep.
You wont have much vulnerability on your targets without 25 air, so I wound’t go 10 water. I would maby go 10 water when I have 10 earth and 10 fire, for the 10% dmg while over 90% hp.
Cleaning Squad are looking for some guild to gvg.
Anyday but at 11:00 pm CET
We normaly start raiding at 10:00pm CET, but have problem with queue as everyone else.
Contact me (Schett.8352) or Mizhas.8536 if you are interested.
Whats wrong with gw2 twitch channel?. All the other devs for Spvp/Pve. Even the art devs do Q&A through http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/profile
Where is Hugh Norfolk there was rumor he was moved to spvp team. Its not possible for devon to stream a Q&A on twitch. WvW is only Q&A being done from forum why?.
Seems like less devs or care for wvw these days.
Awesome defend at Augury Rock Garrison by siN. We was 9 players defending it against 25-30 Augury Rock. In the end they had 2 gates down, we had no wall left and they had siege at the lord. Would love to see a video of it
