I’d rather they be removed and I had suggested as such months ago. I don’t see the gameplay purpose and they require an additional duplicate rune/upgrade to boot since it doesn’t take the Helm’s rune as a sixth. Then out came the exotic aquabreathers over Christmas (but only available over extreme RNG or through PvP) so one could presume they do not intend to abandon it.
Lets just do what Seimur Oxbone does and eat it.
I tried Mystic Forging one with alot of rares and dungeon tokens (lost count) without success. I did not want to mold my entire gameplay experience exclusively to farm for one and I had more fun with the game after giving up on it.
That said I did have one drop at around 4000 hours from a champ bag (after 2 years of play) while running around the Mad King’s Labyrinth this Halloween (because must have ALL the candy corm) and Skeletal Lich is fun when you’re one of the few in the zerg with boon removal.
Don’t let not getting one kill the game experience. Just save slowly for it.
At least its not impossible. Like a Greatsaw.
Zealot is also missing. Its starting to get crazy though with this many variations.
My only complaint in this fight is why isn’t Rox/Caithe helping.
Also the Aspect Masters need to learn Aspect of Ground Rubbing.
I thought the fight was no more difficult than any explore-path Dungeon boss except with much less HP and therefore solo-able.
The only content I got 1-shot by in the past month was Skeletal Lich’s mass retaliation killing me with my own AoE. No complaint though. Felt good to see people actually wanting mesmers and necros but I digress.
Looking at the issue from a completely different angle, I think a solution for most PvE events would be to apply conditions as if the are normal DPS, i.e. not tracking the stacks but just apply the damage. This because the majority of world bosses/champignons do not cleans conditions. It may be over simplified, but would change the usability of condition builds.
This is probably the easiest/least disruptive solution. Once a target reaches 25 stacks, any further condition of the same type just gets applied as direct damage. Damage wouldn’t be ‘wasted’ and this idea would (maybe) just affect beefy things like World Bosses. I’m just a layperson but hopefully it should be just a straightforward damage * time calculation though it might be wise to add some form of diminishing returns on this ‘surplus’. I mean there’s only so many places to bleed from.
Another possible idea could be inspired by Mesmer Staff Phantasm’s Mage Strike attack (and the Engineer Modified Ammunition trait). It does extra damage based on how many different conditions a target has. What if all these bleed attacks get their basic physical damage lowered, but get bonus percentage of damage based on the stacks of bleed it has?
I am mildly amused at comments that GW2 should follow WoW when I’m hearing that Warlords of Draenor has instead been taking notes and ideas from GW2 and other recent MMOs…
I’m not wholly against the idea. More than once I’ve heard an asuran friend say they’d kill to have a golem to ride on like Taimi, but again that has been the most acceptable form. Visual/Cosmetic only.
“Mounts to improve exploration” is not a point in their favor. It is actually against. Waypoints do not impede that because they are inaccessible until first acquired. In fact, if you use speed-boosting mounts to explore Tyria you would be skipping and running past/rushing instead of taking your time and enjoying the sights. Which method of transport would let you notice more of the world around you? Driving, or Walking?
Take your time. See the sights. Listen to the idle dialog. Converse with and/or kill the locals.
If you want more people to support the idea of mounts, we need strong reasons. Stronger than “It would be cool” because this is something that would affect gameplay, immersion and balance. I know talking about immersion sounds silly when there are super-saiyan purple hair panda charr running about, but strangely, this bothers me less than a large horse or dolyak just appearing out of nowhere and vanishing when not required.
Can one of these Mount threads be stickied or something? I think its the repetition that is making people upset more than the idea of mounts.

I just went there after reading this thread and everybody wiped. This reminds me of back when the Cursed Shore tunnel farming events got crazy with the scaling and spawning Champion Risen Wraiths and Champion Risen Chickens that shot out 12,000 damage eggs. Is the centaur champion supposed to die before the timer runs out?
Anyone else noticed the Arenanet ranger running around Silverwastes? His pet was named ‘Arenapet’
Although I’m not sure Anet have the time/resources to implement this, the idea amuses me. Engineers might enjoy using defribbilators.
Then again, I might not be looking forward to necromancers “reviving” me anymore.
Is there any gameplay reason for aquabreathers besides being cosmetic?
Whats the reason for this ‘seventh’ armor slot we have to get another rune/kill tequatl for?
It only goes at most to rare, limited to certain stats (Magi/Rabid/Soldier) and I guess there isn’t enough underwater combat to warrant bringing this in line with the rest of armor.
If its not going anywhere can it just be dropped and let us use the armor stats and rune of our helm instead?
(Although I’m ashamed to say it, the reason I’m bringing this up is primarily my OCD at having full exotic gear and this one slot that is green…)
I think I’m having the same issue. Tried to do Sky Crystal Master after Sky Crystal Seeker. Am pretty certain I’ve touched all 10 but it says I’m at 9/10. Tried revisiting all 10.
Edit: Nevermind. I did miss one. Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair.

I cannot fathom how to fight Champion Risen Corrupters. Champion Risen Wraiths (for comparison) are dangerous, but their life-drain move can be interrupted if watched for, and the model is large and has a very clear tell where it raises its arms, and both it, and its wells do not down a character nigh-instantly. I swear Champion Risen Corrupters AoE pull from 1200 or more away, dealt a sum total of 22,848 damage (on 2300 armor) with Whirlpool (It hits multiple times) with no tells to dodge. It wiped the entire group of over 20 people doing Jofast. This feels very similar to the up-scaling bugs last year that saw Champion Risen Chickens deal 31k damage with a single shot (which we at least, could reflect).
I’m not sure how we’re supposed to do these events.
I agree. Although the new AoE circles help greatly for AoE skills, the pointer is still hard to see for non-AoE skills, targeting and selection
Oh, I did not know about that one. Thank you! I gotta go see him now.
I never played Guild Wars 1 though, sadly, so I find myself needing to run back to the old wiki to read up on all the lore on things I find.
Thank you, Vayne I thought about putting it into Lore instead but I wasn’t sure if mention of Zelda chickens would belong.
I also love how in the Maw World Boss fight, you can Moa Form the Svanir champion to reverse his transform from evil scary ice bear. Coming from Eve Online where NPC enemies get their own special hidden rules and advantages in order to make them competitive against players, its nice to see a skill work as intended there and not just in WvW/PvP.
I think both praise and criticism are equally important. Like pruning a bush, if all there is is pruning there would not be much left. Without pruning, it would just be overgrown, although we do not hold the scissors we just yell at the gardener. I felt there is enough of the latter, and also that others are far better than me at it.
I want to thank Arenanet for Tyria. Just Tyria, the world. Though the big things get most of the attention (the main cast, the personal story, the loot, the economy) I want to show my appreciation for the little things.
What blew me away when I first started going through this content, a year ago, were details that most people might not even see or care about. That proved to me the people who made this, loved this.
the player character, Demmi and Tybalt ambushes Commander Langdon. I loved how when everything was over, Tybalt would go into the small tent, take out a bucket of water and put out the flaming apple barrels one by one.
I did ‘Victory or Death’ with a friend and a bug happened (I got my storyline reward but he did not, and it only appeared after we exited the instance). Not knowing that, we stayed in the instance trying to figure it out. If that bug did not happen, we would have completely missed Woznack the Wonderful.
I love how moas can be seen roaming in flocks. I love how wild life attack each other for food. I’m very curious about the ghost cat at Plains of Ashford. I love the pipe organ in Ebonhawke. Maklain the Minstrel ending up at Meddler’s Summit. I love how all the Risen retreat into the sea just before Tequatl appears. The Dolyak graveyard in Harathi Hinterlands (and the grandfather and child talking there). Idle NPCs (both enemy and friendly) talking. The chicken named ‘Dinner’ at Nagaling that you can catch and give to the old soldier. I love how as you progress through your personal story, (though I only did Charr so far) your warband members and the allies you’ve gathered can be found in various places around your home instance.
Sometimes NPCs can be spotted running around with no event marker and nothing special. If one were curious and followed them, more often than not an event would trigger. A lot of the dialog I liked to hear can be pretty hard to catch because they happened when the event started before there were any map notifications.
I even love the messenger birds each time you get mail.
And if you’re an Order of Whispers agent, even better! (though it has now made me try talking to every NPC I see)
All the references like:
“Can I has cheesy meat?”
“By Odgen’s Hammer, what savings!”
The end boss death in Sorrow’s Embrace, story path.
The chickens in Ebonhawke. I think I found out about this one in the best way (i.e. stumble onto someone else discovering it)
I’ve probably forgotten about alot I would have liked to mention. These little touches are appreciated all the more since I come from MMOs where their worlds, by comparison, are extremely dead or robotic. It makes me wonder how many of these falling-trees-in-the-forest I was not there to hear. I hope the developers are not discouraged by how these are not oft-talked about.
Its one year on and I still keep finding them. I want it known that we do see these and I would love to learn of more.
