Personally, I think mainhand axe would be just as interesting as mainhand dagger. The whole illusion-wielding duelist thing mesmer has going for it is very neat.
I’d love to see what the developers would be able to think of as axe skills. Perhaps a new combo field? Or at the very least a decent whirl finisher would be nice.
Mesmer is a genuinely fun class.
It may not be as practical as it used to be (or not at all in most cases), but that does not mean you cannot enjoy playing the class.
Personally I love mesmer, and would happily re-roll as one.
I’ve always found it incredibly frustrating how slow and difficult it can be traversing the world of Tyria as a mesmer until I noticed this neat little trick:
Mantra of Recovery + Superior Runes of the Centaur = Infinite Swiftness
Sure, it’s not exactly practical for any other purpose, but I felt it was useful enough to leave it here in case anyone did not know about how well the mantra synergies with these runes.
Explanation:
-Swiftness gained through the Centaur runes will last ten seconds.
-Mantra of Recovery will proc this effect three times: 30 seconds total.
-Charging the Mantra, in addition to the use of both charges will cause swiftness
-Mantra of Recovery also has a very convenient cool-down of ten seconds making it ideal for this setup.
Pros:
Gives infinite TEAM swiftness that can also be passed on with our sigil of inspiration.
Cons:
Probably more than I can count.
