So in reality they could actually gain in performance if they moved to DX12 and 64-bit, they’re just not doing it, because the gain would be “minimal”? How do they know without actually trying it out and then starting to optimize for it?
Well, it’s been 3 years and still no change. At least they could post a comprehensive blog post about why they’re sticking with this outdated engine.
Is the effort needed really so high that it doesn’t make financial sense?
Would really love to hear directly from the engine team what the technical hurdles are and the potential downfalls/benefits.
At least then we all will have a better understanding on why the hell nothing changes in this department.

So, any info yet if any engine improvements or upgrades are coming with HoT? Because this is really what is keeping me from buying the expansion.
I would much rather have a better framerate and therefore a much smoother experience than any of the features they have announced to date.
Thanks for the info Bill.
Although, I do wonder; how much of an improvement we would see for high end systems, if GW2 supported DirectX 11 and was compiled and optimized for 64-bit CPUs/OS (as a separate executable)? Is it even possible with the current implementation?

What about high-end hardware?
The game is still very much CPU bound and doesn’t seem to fully utilize all the cores. I also recently upgraded my GPU from GTX 580 to GTX 780 and it didn’t even matter one bit.

Do you need to unlock easy mode world 2?

Just wondering, because I can only enter normal difficulty.
Is this just for WvW or also daily achievements etc.?
Gold, karma, glory, influence, fractal relics, merits, commendations, skill points, laurels … what the hell?
Is really the only way for this game to function, to add a currency each time new content is introduced?
Why not just use influence and previous guilds unlocks, instead of merits, to unlock guild upgrades, and give influence as a reward for completing guild missions?
Why not use laurels, instead of guild commendations, for personal guild missions rewards?
This is getting rather confusing if you ask me. I play the game since release and I’m having trouble keeping up with all this. I can only guess how new players will feel.
Some kind of UI customization would be nice yes. Something similar to GW1 maybe?
Observer mode? Nothing?

Gandara is always fighting the same servers every week.
Yeah, I really don’t understand why a dungeon instance is tied to a player and not the party as a whole.
It causes so many problems including players getting split into different instances, if a specific player is in a weird “state” or was already in a dungeon.
Why not have a dungeon or party specific instance that is created when the first player enters it and is destroyed, let’s say 10 minutes after all the players have been out of that particular dungeon instance?
The above mentioned problems and the lack of some kind of a party finding tool is why I still don’t do explorable dungeon runs. Just don’t see the point.

Robert, any official fix coming for this?
Same here. Got the title, no gifts.
This helped me to get the gifts.

Hmm, I just logged in, participated in an Champion event in Devastation and was constantly getting this message.
Did I miss something?
I am unable to switch guild representation on certain maps.
For example I was in Cursed Shore and when I clicked on represent, nothing happens. Also, I don’t see any active build queue upgrades even tho they are being built.
So I switched to the Mists and behold, I am able to switch guilds and manage upgrades.
Why is this constantly happening? Are different maps hosted on different servers and some don’t have a connection to the “guild server” or what exactly is going on?

Yeah, camera feels really weird in GW2. It did in GW1 also, but it’s more visible in GW2 because of the combat.
Why? Twitter rules.
Because more people probably use FB and Twitter than the official forums.
Thank you for this explanation Robert Hrouda, which you really didn’t needed to do. Ignore the QQ’ers.
That’s not ANet’s patch.
Guilds
- Increased max guild size to 1000
- Ability to view “guild influence earned” and “last login” time in guild roster
- Ability to set more specific rules for guild stash (X items for X items, quality, level requirements etc.)
- Guild hall or a similar meeting place
- A real guild cape

Edit: Never mind, it’s underground (entrance to the east).

It’s really weird that some skill points would work on other servers, but not on all servers. Also, sometimes a skill point would work, and sometimes not without there being any client updated in between.
Are the skill points just tied to the map itself, or somehow “positioned” or governed by the game server or some other server?
Seems like they need to optimize information gathering with large number of players for the roster/contact lists.
This one is pretty straightforward to reproduce.
- Have a guild with 400+ members or a very large contact list.
- Open the guild roster or the contact UI.
- FPS of the whole game drops to sub 10 FPS.
You can even see players or NPCs in the background “stutter” while the two mentioned windows are open, and the UI becomes very “laggy” and unresponsive. Game returns to normal after you close either of the windows in question.
