I do hate it. I’ve done it before and I never want to do it again. Which is why I bought gw2. So what mmo am I supposed to play now?

If arenanet actually cared about their players they would have a poll on this. But they’re too stubborn to realize 90% of their player base doesn’t want this but they’re going to force it down our throats.

I took a three or four year break from gw1 and was still competitive when I got back and could still do all the content in the game. The level cap was never raised and stats were never boosted. I still used the first set of level 20 armor I got in prophecies through eye of the north.

If anet was actually listening like they said they were they would make ascended gear cosmetic and not make a new tier. Guild wars is supposed to be the one mmo where getting better appearance is placed over getting better stats. Most of the people who I know play this came to gw2 to get away from chasing stats.

So they’re adding a new tier, while saying that they’re not going to add new tiers. Huh?

They’re going against everything they’ve been saying for the past five years to try to get a player base that’s already gone back to wow instead of sticking to their design philosophies, which is why everyone I know bought gw2 in the first place.

Except in the blog post they’ve said it will be the norm:

“This is just the beginning. In November, we’re only adding the first level of Infusions and Ascended Rings and Back slots, so that leaves us a lot of room to build upon these levels of Item progression in future content.

As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content."

“The new additions in November are just the start of our item progression initiative.”

I said a few days ago as a joke that spectral agony was coming back before any of this was announced. I couldn’t believe it really is. Was anyone clamoring for it to return? I bet if they took a poll it’d be around 1% of players who played gw1 would want to ever see spectral agony again.

Ascended gear will most likely be more powerful than exotic gear. Why would they say there are “offensive, defensive, and omni” infusions if they didn’t change stats and only protected against spectral agony?

I started playing gw1 at launch and took a lot of breaks over the years, but every time I came back my armor and weapons were still top of the line despite being gone for three years. I didn’t have to do any catching up. Could just go in and enjoy the game.

Apparently this isn’t going to be the case with gw2. Hearing for 5 years that gw2 is “appearance over stats” and there will be no gear treadmill and here we are only two months in and they’ve completely done a u-turn on their whole manifesto. If I didn’t already get hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of this game I’d ask for a refund.

Pandering to a base of players that has already gone back to wow by adding a gear treadmill and pissing off the players who stick around because they don’t want a gear treadmill. This will work out just great.

Those were the first things I did when I had this problem during the beta six months ago but thanks.

And if it was a problem on my end I don’t think running to gendarran fields and restarting the game would fix it while restarting the game in lion’s arch wouldn’t.

So someone moved the thread out of tech support and into this forum but couldn’t be bothered to actually help any of us?

I can’t use the trading post anymore. Anytime I go to buy something the buy button is greyed out and the sell page is always blank. This has been going on since beta but before it was just an inconvenience. I could just go to Gendarran Fields, log off, wait 10 minutes, log back on and run into Lion’s Arch and it would work. Now that doesn’t even fix it. Any other players getting this that can recommend an alternative fix? I tried searching for it but I don’t think the search works right on these forums.

I’ve been getting constant black screen crashes about a week in from launch. At first I didn’t mind because I could just tab back in after getting the error message and keep playing but the sound didn’t work and it would hard crash if I changed zones or viewed a vista. I didn’t mind because I was still having fun, but about a month ago it’s gotten a lot worse. I’m constantly hard crashing to desktop now and it’s not fun anymore.

Except the weird thing is I had no crashes whatsoever in the halloween zones. Spent probably 15 hours in the labyrinth/minigames/clocktower/mad king’s dungeon with no crashes at all. But as soon as halloween is over it’s back to crashing constantly.

I’ve tried to get help on this forum several times already but have been completely ignored by arenanet and told it’s my fault by other players when I’ve done every possible solution posted in this forum over the last two months and can play other demanding games on high with no problems whatsoever.

I only started doing these events after act 2 started so I don’t think I was even here for any extra tiers.
The order I finished them:
1. Halloween Huntin’
2. Halloween Events Completed
3. It’s a Mad King’s World
4. Trick or Treat Bags
5. The Clocktower
6. Attend the Party
7. Pumpkin Carving

Stuck at 4/5.

I’m stuck at 4/5 too even though I have the whole page done. I spent an hour going around carving pumpkins thinking that what was I needed and know I find out that you don’t need that for the emissary title.

If I bought a brand new ford that I had been waiting years for but couldn’t run it long enough to back out of my driveway and then had people saying it’s my fault I’d be pretty kitten

I’ve been having this problem too about a week into release. At first I would just get a crash error but I could always tab back in and keep playing as long as I didn’t change zones or view a vista. Now I’ve just given up on this game because I get a black screen every minute. I don’t even have enough time to buy something from the trading post when I log in before I crash.

I’ve tried every solution in countless threads, done countless hardware tests and nothings fixed this problem. I can play other new, hardware demanding games on all high settings. People with brand new computers and all brand new hardware are getting these crashes.

Yeah I’ve also run all the tests and followed all the advice in this thread and other threads and the problem has gotten worse and worse with every patch. I can play everything else just fine and had no problems during the beta or the first week of launch.

For the last three weeks I’ve run all the diagnostics, reinstalled my game, updated my drivers, reinstalled my drivers, moved the guild wars folder even though it wasn’t in program files, did the -repair, changed all my settings to low, tried every resolution option available in game, run as administrator, tried new characters, and I’m still crashing constantly.

Been getting constant crashes for three weeks. Played fine during the beta and the first week of the game. Now wvw is impossible and it’s getting frustrating just trying to pve. I crash at least 20 times just trying to 100% a zone and I’ve tried everyone solution out there. I can play everything else just fine. I know it isn’t my hardware. It’d be nice if arenanet at least said something about progress towards fixing these crashes.
