I’ll chime in on the transfer issue by quoting myself from Jan 11, right after the IoJ transfers hit FA and just before FA started crushing Tier 3:

I’m definitely curious to see how the new population balance plays out after tomorrow’s reset. Hopefully the numbers will even out and we’ll see some really competitive matches. I’m actually happy to see that some of my favorite opponents from IoJ have joined FA.

To my fellow CDers, however it does shake out, please please PLEASE don’t come on the forums and in any way qq about the transfers. The transfers were completely legitimate, and we had the same opportunity to recruit as FA did. They did a great job getting that influx of some very good guilds and should be commended for it if anything.

Transfers are not something any server will ever turn down (except Maguuma lol), and every server has posts recruiting for them. There’s nothing quite as pathetic in my opinion as reading forum qq about how x server only wins because of numbers and has no skill etc.

And if I were in a guild looking to transfer, I would hesitate before ever joining a server with a reputation for whining like that. Think about that before you come here to post with a sore loser attitude.

Meantime, I look forward to another week of purging AVTR’s confusion stacks.

Two guilds: KH (about 30 dedicated WvW players) and LW (not sure their exact size, but they were definitely smaller than KH when we were all on CD. All the rest of the CD guilds went mostly to Kaineng and Blackgate I believe.

KH was recruited by TC to try and replace a couple of guilds that transferred off TC the week before.

ANET purposely did not give the engineer a weaponswap option because they didn’t want people quickly switching through multiple skill banks right before combat depending on each specific combat scenario.

Anet didn’t give engineers weapon swaps because they gave them kits instead, up to three equipped at a time, each of which is a weapon swap. Eles have four weapon swaps. Not to mention engineers and eles can utilize these in or out of combat.

Giving every class a hotkey for out-of-combat weapon swaps doesn’t imbalance anything. It’s a quality of life improvement, nothing more.

Just last week you were in first place in Tier 3. One week of losing isn’t reason enough to transfer.

They rose through the ranks really fast, owned crap in Tier 3 for a bit, and then lose one week.

Bam exodus. Pretty big coincidence, despite any story they may try to spin.

You apparently know jack about Tier 2 if you think the guilds that went to TC did so to stop losing.

Of course you would have to be someone that doesn’t only think about winning to understand that our goal was to be with people we thought would be fun, instead of worrying about being in a server that will always win.

Shouldn’t you be telling this to the people over at Isles of Aspenwood?

Already have Lune, already have. And the good thing about FA is that they feel the same way, people and community first, winning second

Since weekly WvW matches started on the 15th of September, IoJ has won 2 matches. One was a blowout against an imploding ET, and the other was the first week of our current matchup.

As a result, all the fair weather players left IoJ months ago.

The IoJ players that remain do not give up if they’re not leading, nor do they care if they’re outmanned. I doubt most even care if they win. They’re battle hardened and they fight for every last keep, every last dolyak.

Many servers like to say they never give up. None have proven it like IoJ has.

Well this thread’s wound up exactly where I thought it would.

If FA is successful after the transfers, they’ll see exactly what CD saw: fairweathers, PvErs, and lowbies coming out to WvW, vids of CD guilds wrecking zergs with random FA guild tags spread throughout while we still lose the match overall, and finally CD players whining on the forums about numbers advantages and decrying FA’s lack of skill.

The same story plays out on every server in every tier.

It’s all so pointless. Even though WvW by it’s nature provokes server rivalries, I still like to think I’m playing a game called GUILD Wars 2. Fights against randoms are meh, my blood only gets pumping while fighting groups with certain guild tags.

So vilify CD all you want to, just stop pretending that we were the ONLY server that smack talks, as if AVTR’s posting vids isn’t smack talk, or qq’ing that we only win because of numbers and have no skill isn’t smack talk. In the end, you’re really only mad that a very few select people from CD talked smack because we won.

And using that to rationalize abandoning IoJ, as if CD directly provoked the exodus, is just laughable, but if it helps you sleep at night then hate away.

Looking for those small scale fights precludes the ability to participate in WvW? Do big zergs not fight other big zergs? Just because I am out helping the war effort in my way, does not mean I do not appreciate some good fights.

I’m not seeing what was so controversial in the points I made, but I’ll bite anyway.

If he pursued objectives he’d find plenty of fights against like-minded people. It sounds to me like he should hang out with the guys camping the jp. And I’m glad he’s on someone else’s server, although I’m sure we have our fair share of this type, as well.

But keep preaching, Niim. The more players you field that don’t chase objectives, the more lopsided the score will get. All this is really just clarifying the conversation about how realm population does not necessarily equal WvW population/success.

I think it is pretty silly to believe that all tasks that need doing in WvW are better done by a large group of players. Solo and small groups respond faster, have more specific focused impact, are not worried about dying to do their task, better able to shadow/scout large forces, etc. Most of the people I see running supplies to repair gates and walls, keeping dolyaks guarded or cleared, suicide on siege, and the other host of small things that make up a successful WvW campaign, are small group players.

But the person I replied to didn’t say he wanted to do any of the things you mentioned, he’s just looking for 1v1’s and 2v2’s. And my second paragraph was all about small groups achieving smaller WvW goals. But a nice straw man you built there regardless.

Why does no one on CD or IOJ ever roam?. Its impossible to find a 1 or 2-man to fight.

Hel, KH, TL, NoX and a number of the other message board pros all keep run when they see a lonely mesmer with an afro until they get numbers. Bags CD guild is probably the closest thing ive seen out of this tier for roaming capabilities.

I can answer this one for myself pretty easily: because I’m built for a team composition, not for 1v1 or 2v2. My build is very much glass cannon and requires support from other squad members for survivability. I can wreak havoc on your front lines or destroy your defenders firing down on us from the tops of keeps, but when I’m running alone to try to join our forces I’m completely vulnerable.

We do have small group action, but in our guild small group action means a full five man group that’s still composed thoughtfully, something that can actually take and hold a minor objective when necessary. Being a WvW guild, everything we do is for the benefit of the scoreboard.

My question for you is, if you’re running around WvW looking for 1v1’s/2v2’s, are you actually doing your server any good? Isn’t sPvP where you should be looking for those type of engagements? If your server ever had a queue for a borderland it seems to me you’d be a waste of a queue spot versus someone actually wanting to influence the scoreboard.

What? That can’t be! CD didn’t gain more population as of late and have thereby won because of it, they all just got better. Blasphemy!

You remind me of all the forum whiners from Maguuma and Ehmry Bay that said we’d get our kitten handed to us once we hit tier 3 because we’re just a zerg server. I guess they overestimated you, didn’t they?

I guild hopped for the first three weeks since head start until I stumbled into my current guild. It’s an excellent WvW guild, not huge, only maybe 30 members on together at once. I’ve personally kicked in about 20g for two players to get their Commander’s Compendiums.

I would do whatever it takes to stay in this guild because they’re a great group of people that happen to be really good at WvW. They’re active at the time I am on, doing the activity I most want to do (some PvE and s/tPvP happens on the side), and the leaders are really kitten good. We have no problem recruiting, doing it solely in WvW at the time we’re active.

If you are competent in an aspect of the game people want to play and consistently active at a given time, there’s really no reason your guild can’t be successful.

I just received a 72 hour suspension for an inappropriate name. I’m assuming it was for my main, an Asura engineer named Sergeant Ticklebutt.

While I am disappointed that the name is considered inappropriate (I usually got complements like “cute name!” in-game), my primary concern is for my alts Doctor Ticklebutt, Madame Ticklebutt, Agent Ticklebutt, Master Ticklebutt, Private Ticklebutt, and Miss Ticklebutt.

Am I going to receive suspensions/ban if I log into those alts? Some have been leveled considerably, and all have Abyss dyes and extra bag slots obtained by purchasing gems from your gem shop, so deletion is not an option for me.

Yeah, I got a response saying:

“In reviewing your account, I can see that I am able to override your purchase restriction for 24 hours.”

I replied back asking exactly what the restrictions are so I’ll know when I’m reaching them next time. I’ll update this when I get an answer.

I got the exact same error message as Zealot. I updated an earlier ticket I created through support.
