Can’t say anything about the qualifiers, I am afraid I missed them too, but from my own games with ele, survivability against power-based builds took a pretty big hit with the change from Cleric to Mender. Maybe just because the different stats require me to adapt and play it differently (look for different fights/rotate attunements different), maybe because it simply is less effective…
The good thing about Mender is that the increased health pool makes conditions less powerful, especially because of Diamond Skin (going down to 75% healh requires a bigger hit), so it’s really not all bad.
Still missing the old D/D (celestial) elementalist though, having your most used amulet removed always hurts for a while.
Gandara’s website changed several times after the old site expired (rip). Seems like we finally settled down with gankdara.com, though from what I have seen from any previous replies in this thread, the list doesn’t get updated anymore?
Not really sure why this is still stickied if it doesn’t get updated and contains multiple dead/incorrect links.
Hey there. I don’t think you’re going to have any luck finding a conoletely Gandaran PvE guild. This because there is absolutely no reason to limit a guild to 1 server for any game-mode aside from WvW. Due to mega-servers all content except for WvW will be accessible for play with people from whatever server. This means you can freely search for any PvE guild regardless of ‘main’ server.
Hope this might help you with finding the perfect fit. If you do get into WvW sometime and are looking for a guild there, shoot me a message and I might be able to point you in a guild’s direction (WvW is where I am most involved with, I know next to nothing about PvE guilds since megaservers got introduced).
I am sorry you consider it a ‘useless thing’, but if it’s something that bothers me when I play without need, I am definitely going to post a message about it.

Trying to make it work with the right-mouse button, but I really suck at that. Hope a fix will come for this eventually.
I kept pinging in PvP matches before I figured out how to still draw on the map. Still pinging instead in many stupid ways every match since.
Same here. We ended up all leaving the map and waiting a bunch of time before logging in again. Everyone needs to leave or it doesn’t work. That kicked us out of the PvP and into the mists and from then, we managed to get into normal maps. Still says we’re in a PvP match though -.- oh well.
Thank you. This worked for us as well! <3
Same here on Gandara. Well sort of… we seemed to crash when we had a squad marker on an enemy and then used the waypoint (the squad would crash whenever the commander used waypoint from his defeated state while having a marker on an enemy). We also crashed when a marked enemy would waypoint after having been defeated.
Furthermore we had 3 consecutive squad-wide crashes earlier, which synced with the commander trying to re-enter EB after an earlier crash.
Didn’t really pay much attention to the crash error though, sorry!

You can try out in Heart of the Mists (PvP) whether or not you like the feels of any of the new specializations. If you have Heart of Thorns, all of the specializations are unlocked there (remember to use the 3rd line).
As for levelling the new character:
If you already have a character that is 1, 2 or 3 years old then you get a tome which will bring your character level up to 20 (or 30 for the third birthday), maybe this can help you? You can also get Tomes of Knowledge which can be used to gain a level (get it through the daily login rewards/sPvP/daily WvW or check the wiki for a list of all options).
Hmm good point. I didn’t really watch their current matchup, maybe things changed with HoT release. Which would be curious though, as it takes a pretty long time for a server’s population status to change when population dwindles.
Maybe ArenaNet can make another server Spanish? One of the lowest populated servers perhaps. They did make Riverside a German server just before releasing the game (I remember my guild suddenly had to change server to start on) so have shown that if need be they can change this. Big problem though is that however small, there will be an established community on each server already… don’t want to break that.
Something smells fishy here, with the #8 and #10 server suddenly full. Baruch Bay never had that large of a force in WvW, the only reason I can think of for them to become classified as full is that there are more (yes literally more) people afk in spawn than there are players actually playing…
I also don’t understand how Gandara is supposed to be full. Maybe the algorithms need some tweaking so that they actually affect the servers with the highest population of active players (maybe Gandara and BB have many people that get into WvW once a week for just an hour?). In the meantime, I guess we’ll have to just accept this.
EDIT: Guild merged and although it still exists, this is no longer an active guild.
Guild Name: Psychic Instability [Pi]
Gameplay choices: WvW, with a focus on (guild)fights. Sometimes sPvP, for duels or larger practice to improve play.
Home world: Gandara (EU) – International guild.
Event times: WvW organised guildraids on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday/Sunday from 19:00 to 22:00 BST (UTC+1).
Guild leader: TwanBr.8340
Website: http://psychicinstability.net
Other info:
- Our focus is on 15 vs 15 fights. We believe this brings a fine balance between contributing to fights as individuals while also relying on teamwork and good coöperation.
- We have several
curiousglorious guild traditions. One stems from the guild Underworld Battalion [WvW] and entails ending our events by leaping to certain death off of the bridge in Hills (WvW). Another is that ressing our members to 99% health is common practice and even gets praised. Aside from that we will spontaneously use our Monkey King Tonics at the same time. - We like [Pi]e. To such an extent that pie, specifically pumpkin pie, has become a token of respect and appreciation. We take pride in receiving any!
For our formal guild introduction, please refer to our website.

Another thing about the heroes is that they are actually very easy to capture, too easy. Being able to simply press F when the channel becomes available and then using stability pretty much ensures that you get the hero if you pressed F before your enemy, unless fighting for the hero against teams with a surplus amount of boon removal.
Edit: I’d also very much like to see something happen at the end when no team has won within 15 minutes. Simply declaring one side victor based on the secondary system of points feels unrewarding when you win and extra frustrating/disappointing when you lose.

It does need to have its own queue yes. It won’t be as enjoyable as it has been during this public beta if it doesn’t have a separate queue (due to other builds and team setups, getting fed up with other game modes; or the other way around, getting fed up with Stronghold if you prefer Conquest).
I would rather wait longer for my queue for this to pop than to be forced to wait even longer by having to wait full matches of Conquest before being able to play Stronghold.
Best way to fix the problem would be to separate death matches from capture point matches.
This. Courtyard is nothing like the other maps due to the sudden completely different gamemode.
So you say, ( and Anet ) , the chance that someone will go AFK while in the queue is higher if he is actually playing the game in another part than standing in the mists while doing nothing ????
Interessting…No, staying in the HotM is to prevent players from getting dishonor for failing to respond to a match confirmation because they’re loading another map. It also takes care of people who forgot they queued and went on to do something else in-game because it will remove you from the queue as soon as you leave.
Are you planning on making HotM a more exciting place to be at to compensate? It doesn’t exactly sound appealing to play PvP if I have to sit around for 5 minutes blankly staring at my screen until a match is found. Not to mention that it still lacks a bank.
Aren’t you also afraid that you are limiting people of a certain skill level overly much? Or people who play primarily at less populated times of the day? Since they generally do have to wait longer and thus would be forced to aimlessly wander around in HotM longer.
Asides, I am definitely not afk while I am still roaming around in WvW waiting for the PvP queue (nor planning on swapping map, thus entering a load screen). I don’t see how a map enforcement will help battle 4vs5. You are not planning on also letting us wait for the WvW queues in a fixed area, right? Just because coverage balance is an issue there as well.
As someone who enjoys other parts of the game as well (primarily WvW), I am not particularly interested in the amount of sudden big limitations* that are scheduled for PvP. And if it wasn’t clear yet, in my opinion you are about to take a wrong turn. Lets hope it does not lead to a dead end!
| * less feedom to play what we want (class changing pre-start), where we want (waiting map).

Oh dear, I’ll have to start picking a main profession now.
No point in swapping characters to better complement my team’s composition if it results in being dishonourable. Not quite sure how it would be considered dishonourable to help out your team by swapping pre-start to a bunker if it lacks any, but oh well.
Happened to most people of my guild as well. Had to actively lead them around the water to avoid losing stacks. The fact we can’t enter inner Bay without venturing into the water is problematic (unless when jumping in the water we manage not to get underwater but swim at the surface).
I would also like some clarification whether it was intentional or not (need to know whether I should buy a proper water weapon and another stacking sigil on all my characters or not).
Aww, no need to feel sorry for us! We can always just transfer to another server. Too bad we only saw the exact harsh effect of the free transfers on the queue in this matchup now that transfers are no longer free.
Yay, we have to buy gems now to actually play WvW. Smart move ArenaNet! \o/
Thanks for bumping this thread numerous times! This arguing back and forth is absolutely fruitless except for that the heated discussions might help us reach the goal of shutting down transfers to Gandara more easily.
Can we (looking at either side) stop generalizing everything though? I as a Gandaran have no harsh feelings to Desolation in general or PT more specifically. There probably are delusional or plainly annoying people on that server, but I am pretty sure we have them as well, just like any other server.
Lets also stop patting ourselves on the back, while despising others. It remains a competition so lets keep the mood sportsmanlike, even though (or maybe especially because) Desolation and Gandara won’t be pitched against each other this season.
I guess the social psychological effects happening here can be best explained by this YouTube video
Now, on-topic again. The queues are bothering people and EotM is no viable solution to this problem as it is nearly completely different from the borderlands.
I would love to warmly welcome off-peak WvW guilds or PvE/tPvP oriented guilds. But I believe it would be detrimental to the pleasure of both us and any new prime-time guilds transferring, if they decide to do so.
(edited by TwanBr.8340)
The general Gandaran community will most certainly warmly welcome Bob or anyone who transfers. The point is that our WvW queues have skyrocketed since these free transfers and we (as WvW community) feel the need to start drawing a line to keep the server as enjoyable as it is and has been. Complete guild transfers should therefor be carefully reconsidered and communicated about.
In the case we are contacted by a guild or individuals about transferring to Gandara, we can definitely direct them towards other servers, including UW, if we feel the need to do so.

Had a great first time commanding experience here on Gandara; also every time we move out with the guild it is enjoyable to make fun of and with any other guilds on the same map!
