  • deselect items in the “salvage all” option with rare items this is sometimes annoying
  • summary of this thread with ideas u are currently working on and ideas that are not going to be implementet just to give players a hint of what we can expact in future updates :-D

SMS-Authenticator

I am having trouble with the SMS-Authenticator it often simply doesnt work cause u dont get an SMS…

just to sum it up a little bit:
I had this problem in the beginning when i started using the SMS-Authentification I waited for 10 min and didnt get an SMS. I did not realy have a chance do to anything besides waiting because i had too few Networks in my List.
since then i had no trouble for a few month simply for the reason i dont had to use it…
a few days ago i got new networks and the problem started again… no SMS
I Fixed it after 2 min with a Internet to Reconnect…
then it worked once (sms in 2s) and today… same problems again but i needed 10 Reconnects…

it is anoying please look into this isuee im also interestet if anyone else hase these problems.
im Now at the point of thinking just to get rid of it and use Email again simply for the fact it workes…

I am currently unable to complete the prolugue mission. At the last rally point before the portal to verdant brink (after the escort and talking to all the LS npcs), I approach the green star. At that point the UI hides as if starting with a cut scene but instead the game becomes unresponsive. The standard anet crash UI does not appear

got the same Problem :-( 3 times and it didnt work

I don’t think you need the physical items in your inventory to link weapons with templates.. Why don’t let pop out a message like // “You don’t have a ‘1-h-sword’ in your inventory, do you want to buy one for ‘1s’ from the pvp vendor? [Yes][No]” // If you choose [No] you just get an empty weapon slot. (‘…’ = variable)
This option also can be chosen for PvE, then with the standard weapons for your level from the simple weaponsmith.

that may be true for PVP but what about PVE…
if you only load a Build its fairly easy you only need to check if the skills are unlocked.

if you include items then you need to check way more especially in PVE

  • is the Item with the sigil and right stat in your inventory? Yes → easy; No→ what now?
  • what if it is a Legendary? what statcombo do u need?
  • what do you do if the Sigil in the weapon has changed? does the weapon still exist od do u need to change all build that use the weapon?
  • what if some items are not in your inventory? buy an white item for PVE… No?

there are a lot of problems with this system and you have to think about all of them.
if you use the gear-Box or a 2nd equipment slot for example you dont have that many problems you only have to check if there is an Item in the box and if so → swap if not → keep the item

from a Programmers point of view its not that hard to implement.

    Trait-link: would be a nice feature but I’ll understand if its not included and i don’t realy need it.

The spvp implementation of inspect is fine and does the job there. I think if inspection were implemented for pve traits/gear, the negative repercussions would outweigh the positive.

what i ment to say there is that linking gear is already implementet so you cant realy discuss it. (and btw what u post may not what u wear :-P)
Linking the Traits would be nice for sharing Builds. (inc Traits and Skills)

there is a difference between link and inspect.
The PVP inspect is fine as it is but it would be nice if u could link it to share with friends. —> Link
an Inspect in PVE like it is in PVP… no PLZ don’t do it
with linking builds I don’t see that many problems (u can still change it or link another build so what…)

and for PVE put the Gear and Builds in 2 different systems many Builds require the same Gear anyway include a the Gear-Box from my first post that shuld be cool and it makes swaping (ascended)gear between Characters easier and faster

Lots of good feedback here:

  • Templates should be flexible on what they contain. Everyone wants something a little different from this feature.
  • Template switching can be abused in WvW, between dungeon bosses, etc.
  • Tiered release approach (I feel this feedback is because people want this feature RIGHT MEOW)
  • UI suggestions are pretty diverse. There are a lot of ways it could be handled, and it touches a LOT of systems in the game.
  • Fear of inspect / gear-checking by others.
  • Using real items is more of a ‘load-out’ than a ‘template’. Possibly different systems.

First of: keep it simple

  • only the Templetes in PVP and PVE/WVW should be different.
    PVE/WVW only Traits + Skills (6-0)
    PVP also including Sigils runes amulet
    (Weapons shouldnt be included in either)
    1 klick more isn’t going to hunt anyone, searching the right rune and setting traits is the enoying part…
  • how can the switching be abused? the only difference is that it is faster… you can’t do anything that you can’t do now, just faster
  • UI: for PVP in the PVP window for PVE/WVW in the trait window so there where it belongs :-)

  • Gear switching for PVE/WVW:
    just include a item-“Box” where u can put all your 2nd Gear in and by using this item the Gear in your inventory and the “Box” is swaped. It even saves space in your Inventory :-)

How do the leaderboards work?

There is an old saying garbage in → garbage out I think the problem lies with the used data of the MM-algorithm.

So how do I get the “garbage” in in the first place?
Let me give u a small example:

In games like Dota or HON u start with a fix MMR like 1500. If u win a game you will get like 20 points max so u have 1520 after the match.

In Guildwars you will get way more points in the first games, the reason for this is that players will faster play with other in his league, at first this is a good thing but it poses a loot of problems.
>>players with 15 games in the top 25
>>but the more drastic problem with this system is, if you are “lucky” and get 7 good teams in a row and win. You will be ranked very high even if it is not your “real” MMR

So obvious you don’t need to play yourself “up” and would hit a point where you loose as many as as u win and so play with others in your league.
You rather get put some where in the leaderboard that is based on 10 games which is a pretty low quantity and therefore not really precise, since the accuracy of your MMR increases with the number of Games you play.

The result is that the “lucky” players poison the leaderboards and even at high ranks u will still play with new players.

So how can the algorithm get more precise?
>> let the PL play themselves up since more games make the MMR accurate
>> since we have a 500 score for each match use this score if a team wins 500:100 they will get more ranks them if they are playing 500:499 this also increases teamplay and even the loosing team will still try to get as many points as possible.
>> don’t count unfair matches (4 vs 5) just remake them or add a 10th person

BTW: the used Glicko2 alo was designed for chess a 1 vs 1 game with win lose and draw :-) and not a 5 vs 5 player game

Skyhammer has been the most ridiculous map in GW2

it was the best “farm” map
its the best troll map
its the most hated map
its the most unbalanced map
its the most beginners unfriendly map
u can’t even dodge the skyhammer lololololol

—> just remove it from SoloQ and finally do something the comunity wants and not some Dev minority…

Chill and thiefs

You know Math is a powerful tool and don’t get me started on statistics (there is a nice Quote :-P )

I think we can agree on:
- Chill only effects the skills you use
- Initiative is basicly only a Global Cooldown

So Chill would also effect Skills if u didn’t even used them well sounds fair…

if u take your precisions 66% and apply it to the Thief it has to be broken down for each Skill individually
66% / 8 Skills = 8.25%

the two Options we have now are Increase Init cost or decrees Init reg

a decrees would be unfair because it would affect skills prior to getting chilled wo we are left with option 1:

if a skill costs 6 Init and increase it by 8.25%
1.0825* 6 =6.495
since u cant spent 0.495 Init we have to round that… so its 6 Init ;-)

To sum it up it wouldn’t work…

BTW Chill effects the Cooldown since the Cooldows is 0 1.66*0=0 ^^

Lets take stealth for an example. Classes with easily available stealth: Mesmer, Thief, and Engineer. Two have Medium health(Mesmer/Engineer) and one has Low health(Thief).
Thief has Perma-Stealth both Engineers and Mesmers do not. So comparing Thief to Warrior A-net has stated that Perma-Stealth is worth 756 Vitality. While not having Perma-stealth but still having easy access to stealth is only worth 329 Vitality.
Obviously this is excluding other variables and assuming all other variables are balanced perfectly.

Well 1st off Perma-Stealth doesn’t exist^^ but not the point :-)
2nd for stealth u have to take more in account then just Vit. a Warrior has more armor is faster, more boons, etc. If u take all that in account is stealth still worth it?
U also have to take skill-evades (not dodging) in account. That is what the thief is build around. The problem here is that it scales very good with skill.

To OP:
i mostly agree with u i think in the beginning the game was better ballanced, besides a few unbalanced skills (heartseeker spam ;-) in PVP) every class had its unique position in the game now i mostly see (for PVE) warri, mesmer and guards while other classes like Eles, Necros are rarely seen
I think these changes it would be a step in the right direction for future Balancing.

1. pick thief
2. use dagger/pistol
3. use skill 3 to get to him and to blind him
4. kill him with skill 1 and 5 for “perma” blind and a few more
5. be happy u killed him in a few seconds
6. start all over ^^

to topic: yes it happens to me too but i think its only fair if i cant see him that he can’t see me too. :-P

btw i farm him with 3 gambits and dont have any problems

There are 3 areas for Shiverpeak that are hidden quite well^^

2 in Timberline Falls
in the south east corner they are called:
- Lair of the Coil
- Tail of the Serpant
both are Caves!!! and not needed for 100% or a JP

1 in Dredgehaunt Clifs
near Mountain’s Tail
- Ulluk’s Hunger

Those were the 3 missing for me hope it helps

In Kryta i got all 175 but dont ask me where the missing ons are i dono^^
I’m still missing 1 in Orr and 1 in Maguma
