Yer point on avoidin’ usin’ yer email ta log in fer security reasons is a fair enough one. I’d say that them mergin’ posts, at least slightly related, means they’re payin’ some kind of attention to us. I guess my point was less ta justify what they’re doin’ and is more of a “it could be worse” kinda post. While isn’t not exactly helpful, bein’ a bit more optimistic could at least keep us in better spirits till we get ta play again; and man do I wanna play again. ;p

I only wish I kinda had a bit more insight ta what’s goin’ on over there, just ta put it in better perspective fer me. I can’t even begin ta imagine how stressful things must be. >.<

I’m sure they’re doin’ the best they can for us as quick as they can. Just imagine if you were workin’ there right now bein’ on of moderators doin’ this. They can’t exactly give us any exact information or anything since it could end up backing firing later with statements like “Well why wasn’t this fixed by X or at least Y?”. I’m in the same boat as you, Sam.9157, and my post was almost merged but I think we just gotta try to tough it out for now.

If you’re unwillin’ to do that, you could try tricking your way around it (though I’m too scared to). In that you can change your email to another email account you own, then try to log in, or even change it back to the original and try after that. I’m just afraid it’ll mess with things in a bad way, so I’m stuck surfing the internet while I wait for a fix. :P

I have the same issue with getting past the e-mail validation part of the launcher myself. I’m half tempted to change my e-mail to my other e-mail account then back again and see if it helps. Though I did open a ticket a couple hours ago and am afraid I’ll mess something up by trying to trick my way around it. Guess we just gotta wait it out while they figure things out. I can’t even begin to imagine what kinda stuff they gotta go through juggling their staff with trying to help us. Poor Anet. xD
We’re rootin’ for ya though!

Thanks Wiser! Does the Swiftness buff last only while you are in that zone, or does it apply every time you come back to the zone as well? Also, is there a significance in the ratio as shown on the (H)ero screen?

The buff fades after about 3-5 minutes I wanna say and has to be obtained again after you go back to the city. I think the ratio shown there is just to give you a little title (though not one you can show in game) based on the choices you’ve made with those traits.

but it looks like they do have a bar that fills up and a trait on your hero pannel. I could be way off here but i there’s a cave somewhere in the first or second human zone that says something like “only truly agressive people may enter” I was thinking it had something to do with these traits as well.

I think those bars just show the kind of balance you’ve have been each of the three traits based on which ones you’ve chosen. As for that cave you mentioned, all you have to do is perform the “/threaten” emote, without quotation marks, of course.

Wise with Age pretty much hit the nail on the head with his post, but your guess was a good one. I thought the same thing till I tried the emote and simply lucked out with it being real. :P

Looking for a thorough explanation of targeting mechanics

For how much longer after switching to the called target does your character keep attacking the previous one? I read somewhere the game’s combat is based on the animation of some of the skills after they’re cast. It’s possible you may be in the process of casting or have started casting a new skill slightly before switching to the called target.

While I don’t know of any guides that could help you, I’m pretty sure that “promote skill target” causes the current enemy you’re attacking to become the “called target”.
I’m not sure how keen you’ll be on this idea, since it’s not really something you brought up, but when I play I don’t always use targeting; especially when there’s a group of clustered enemies. I have auto-targeting disabled now and just use my camera to aim my attacks. It kind of gives you an FPS feel for the combat, which I think it’s a nice option, even though I’m terrible at FPSs normally.

That’s the best I can do for ya since I don’t 100% know how it works. Hope you can figure out yer issue soon.

If I need to AFK for a couple of minutes, will I need to log out so I'm not mistaken for a bot?

Turnin’ yer basic attack off should stop yer characters from automatically retaliating. I usually play with it off while on my Ranger, as well as set my pet to “Avoid Combat”, and have come back to him just standing there takin’ a beatin’. If you go about it that way you shouldn’t have ta worry about her fightin’ back and lookin’ like a bot.

Where to get or find back trinkets?

In addition to getting the “Back” slot accessories from your personal story, you can buy some from the Guild Armor vendor.
I think the level 30 one is 1g, level 60 one is 3g, and level 80 one is 5g if you buy them from the Guild Armorer.
There’s a little bit more information on the back items listed in their tool tips before you buy them.
I know the level 80 equip appears on your character as a backpack complete with guild logo.

Full server question

You can perform a server transfer on your Character selection screen. I don’t recall the exact name of the option but I believe it’s “World Select”, found in the lower left corner of your screen.
After you’ve done that, it’ll let you know how generally full the servers with words like “High” and "Full’. I don’t believe we can find out exact numbers quite yet though.
The plan you mentioned is a little risky, since if a server says it’s full, it won’t allow you to transfer there.
I imagine they’re still sorting things out not too long from now, since they’re still in the process of trying to balance the queue system for World vs. World
I agree with Veeber that you should probably transfer now while it’s free.
