What's the reasoning for paying to switch crafts?

OK so we’ve established it’s a money-sink, I can get that – crafting almost always is. I still think the ACT of switching back and forth is unnecessary. If they feel that the amount of money required to switch is important they should roll that into other crafting costs somehow. The fact that I can’t look at all my craftings at the same time is just really dumb if they are going to allow you to keep them all.

However, why can’t we do the same for discovery? At times I often drag my entire bank into inventory in order to discover new stuff, and come up with nothing, so I just put them back in the bank. It get’s a bit tedious after a while.

100% agree. This feels almost like a bug it’s so silly. I do EXACTLY that, drag over almost my entire bank sometimes. Especially when doing cooking when I have so many ingredients suddenly my pitiful bag storage space is full.

It’s definitely a problem IMO and an oversight. Please fix!

This should be really easy to implement.

There’s already a “search” section but it only searches the names of the items.

What I suggest is you can search for terms that are in the description of the items. In particular, I’m looking to be able to type “cook” or “jewelcr” or something to that effect to have it highlight (opaque out invalid items, whatever) that are usable by that profession.

The reason I feel the need for this is that the Discovery pane doesn’t seem to allow us to use things in our bank collectibles (which I also think is a really bad move, needs to be fixed imo). So when I go to craft, I basically have to search through my entire bank/collectibles for anything within a level range for JC/tailor/chef/whatever and drag them in.

Rather than having to mouse over every freaking thing and since we can’t seem to Discover from our bank, I suggest we have this advanced search option.

I’m a bit confused as to the reasoning for why we can only have 2 crafts enabled at once. Maybe at high level the switching costs are trivial, but at low level they are not.

It’s not like being a craft grants a special boon just for BEING it. Sure, you can craft great stuff, but to do that you have to dump ingredients in.

I just don’t get it. It seems specifically against ANet’s goal of stopping tedium.

Thoughts / reasonings please? Do you guys expect they’ll change that later on?
