Also I think several of you are correct that 64-bit windows and mac simply don’t mesh. Again its a pity that the mac client is simply not viable any longer.
again thanks all for your input. Just checked this today. I installed bootcamp and downloaded GW2. It worked for a few days but now I have ‘error 0xc000009a’ when I try to boot up as PC (windows 10). Can’t repair it as the bootcamp USB won’t initiate etc. I’ve tried a crash course in PC repair tools etc but I’m a mac user (since 1985) and don’t know the intricacies of PC maintenance.

FWIW I looked into wine 2.0 for another RPG but it ran very sluggishly.
Honestly it looks like Bootcamp is my only option. At this point I can’t even get a freshly downloaded GW2 to install without crashing. And this is after multiple runs through Onyx and other utilities. Seems to start a ‘kernel panic’ every time.
So I’ve tried every trick I know: turned off all other startup items etc, reinstalled mac OS Sierra, reinstalled GW2 twice. Still locking up at startup, or 1 minute into game. Doesn’t matter where I was before crash (PvP, WvW, Lion’s Arch etc). It seems I’ll have to go buy Windows 7 and run Bootcamp if I want to continue playing. I understand that Mac users are a distinct and tiny minority, but honestly why bother offering a mac client if you never upgrade it or address crash issues?

Apologies if this has been addressed before but I couldn’t find an archived topic. I’m playing on a new-ish iMac with recent OS upgrades. GW2 now crashes every time I play, usually at startup. Occasionally I can get an hour or so of PT before it locks up again. I then have to run Onyx to rebuild/clean up and restart several times. I’ve read several threads that say this is a mac client issue and that the ‘powers-that-be’ will never bother to upgrade or improve it etc etc.
I’ve resisted installing Bootcamp but now seems I have no choice. So my question is simply this: If I switch to the PC version will I keep all my mac-based characters? I honestly don’t know how they are archived etc. and REALLY don’t want to have to level characters up again.

thanks for replies. FWIW I tried setting everything to lowest possible frame rate etc. and still no joy. It tends to happen more often in cities for me as well, and in wvw. Does anyone know if you keep the same characters etc. if you switch to PC version ?
Hello. I don’t know if this has been addressed already. But in the last week (since my latest mac os system upgrade) I cannot play for more than ten minutes (usually much less) without freezing up. Often I can’t get past the character select screen. Is there anything I can do to alleviate this? One person suggested switching to bootcamp PC version. But would I lose my mac-based characters doing so? Any thoughts/tips would be much appreciated.

Hey thanks for the responses. Hadn’t thought of shadow refuge – didn’t realize it could cut 2 seconds off res time.
I also haven’t used it in 6+ months, as I’ve been trying to keep d/d despite everyone (and his brother) blocking my c&d, backstabs etc.
Actually been trying a fun (but hopelessly flawed) d/d-p/p combo recently.
Hey fellow thieves. I’ve been playing WvW for awhile now and have recently noticed a few thieves who seem to res in seconds. I have them ready to stomp and they are up in a flash and attacking. I know of no build etc that would allow this. Are they cheating/botting or is there some downed state build/trick that I’m unaware of?
