As for theorycrafting, raw data analysis should never be more than a basic guideline. While I have little experience with it in GW2 I have a kittenton of experience with it from WoW, and know that patchwork numbers you get from just calculating best case scenarios are NEVER correct, never, they were not even correct for patchwerk.
While they do provide a raw perception of the potential power they mostly fail to aknowledge things as resistances, forced downtimes, movement, human error and aoe. Without a proper dmg meter full time video analysis is the only reliable way to determine dps.
I have, by the way, still no idea what gear I should by XD

Hybrid reaper could be a thing. I have to do some numbers, but applying burns with duumfire in reaper shroud is a piece of cake. I wonder if the damage output is enough, though…….
So Reaper’s that strong eh? Thought about just going full sceptre with spite curses and SR, foregoing the reaper in favor of ranged might stacking and dhuumfire for DP. Fury+Sinister+DP would add up to just about 100% I believe… I just really dislike melee. I dont know, I always get hammered Into the ground by something I get to close to it or spend half the time dodging stuff like a madman… talk about dps uptime. If I can’t make ranged nec work I believe I will try a ranger instead since the global ranger hatred is down aswell.
Yes nemesis I have seen your videos and I agreed
but a class is only as good as its perception and getting randomly kicked was kittening me off
really they mature language filtered it to kittening?…
Anyway since I am not a great fan of melee I wanna try out a condimancer. What gear is the way to go, sinister?

I looked at the reaper playstyle and it is definitely nothing for me, I prefer atleast 500 range between me and the boss. I read a few guides in the past couple hours but almost all seemed focus on melee. I am still looking for a solid pure ranged build, condi would be ok since I personally liked dots, power would be great too, personally I believe a build with sinister/rampagers would suit me best. I would be interested if there are any of those around currently, and where I can find them.
I am personally not a great fan of Zerkers since it tends to get me killed and has more counterplays, but i can definitely see its value for solo content and bosses that favor bursting sustained damage.

Hello guys,
I am returning to this game after over a year of pause, at which time I know necro was pretty much garbage and was not taken for many dungeons, much less for speedruns and high end record runs. I heard from a friend that necromancer was somewhat buffed now and was interested whether there are dps builds for PVE now that are within max. 5% range of the best overall dps from other classes and if one no longer has to be ashamed of not being an ele or warrior.
If yes, I would greatly appreciate a link or short describtion of that build, and if no, perhaps what other class I should be looking for. I adore ranged dps and hate tanking, prefering other people to be bludgeoned to death while i safely wait at a great distance throwing out spells and occasionally roll out of an aoe effect. I have no issues with complex rotations though I am not above cheesing stuff and playing with 1-2 buttons.
I have little to no interest in PVP, some WvW ability would be nice but not necessary.
I have been reading different topics throughout the night and it seems that ranges are currently in a really bad position, since you need to be melee to execute blast finishers, if you don’t execute blast finishers you don’t get fury and generate no might, ergo you are not well accepted. Staff ele is supposed to be a hybrid staying in 600 (max) range and going in now and then to execute a blast finisher with arcane blast, and Ingi (who is supposed to be a significantly weaker dd) has still be very close to the others (who will be mostly melee) to benefit from might gen while stacking vuln.
*A few more aspects about my play style: *
I prefer target centred aoe to ground based aoe (which sort of annoys me with ele) e.g. chain lightning or mind sear in wow, don’t know if there even is something like that in gw2, but i think i can manage and get used to that.
I like magic. Playing a viscous brute with a huge sword who just cuts everything to ribbons would not be my preferred play style, but I love damage and efficiency even more so I think I could manage, especially if i can get my hands on some magic sword
I already have a lvl 80 necro , 40 guard, 20 warry and ele, the necro unfortunately being an immense disappointment to me. Right now I am pending between warrior and ele, though i am open for suggestions.

Hi, so I have returned to Guild Wars 2 after a loooong break, and I have very little idea what’s going on right now, so I wanted to start completely new and level a class from 0. However, I would very much like some advises as to what I should choose right now and what would fit me best, here are some facts about me:
I love damage. A lot. And I’m a bit egotistic, so I don’t really mind if I have little support and get buffed mostly. If there is some way to support my group without impacting my own output, great, otherwise only in emergency situations.
I prefer ranged dps. Going melee in some circumstances is OK, but I really prefer to have at least a bit of distance to my enemy and have someone else getting the crap beaten out of them in the front.
I am mostly a PvE player, something like 8o-90% pve and 10-20% pvp, and if I do pvp its WvW (never liked arena).
I don’t mind complicated mechanics. Sure press 2 to win is cool, but I have been a hardcore MMO player for 7 years now, so if I have to press more then 2 buttons I think I could manage.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
no
That, sir, is siply a lie. It always seemed like it did scale, but just to make sure I just tested it with my 60% 5 sec bleed DAGGER with 100% increased (maximal) Bleed duration, and, kitten got real it lasts exactly 10 seconds. So pls do not spread evidently false and untested missinformation.
Thank you.
Correct, and if Ling. Curse is not working as intended and they nerf it i’m totally rerolling a guardian..
Have to agree. It’s totally fun but I feel pretty useless in just about every dungeon I’ve done.
If that is true for you, you are doing something wrong. The dammage a condtioner does is Insane!! I am currently full exotic, always Pizza buffed and have undead runes with Rabid armor +weapon and Carrion jewelry. At my hights I dps for, hands down, 4-5k per second (2400 condition dammage for the win), which will even make warriors jelly, and have 21,5k hp and 1,4k thoughness while being ranged, making me almost always the last man standing in a party. Not to mention that i almost constantly cripple, weaken and poison the boss and any adds he spawns making them melt within seconds. Oh, and i have a crapload of utility via wells aswell and if necessary i can go for a straight 25 seconds of blind AOE, mitigating like 80-99% of the dammage on my party.
If that is still useless for you, well, then I’m useless.
I’m pretty sure there is no cap. Condition duration isn’t additive but rather they all increase duration independently. So if you have a condition that is 4 seconds long and you have 4 things that lengthen it by 10%, 10%, 15%, and 33%. Rather than lengthen it by 68%, each percentage would work individually adding .5-.1.25s more condition duration.
You, eh, pretty much just wrote down the princip of additive stacking, and btw despite the fact that tooltipp is rounded up the condititon duration is ACCURATE, so it might very well be that poison tolltipp states 3,5 sec but in reality its 3.26 sec. If you don’t beleive me i can upload a video with 100% bleeding duration and 145% bleeding duration (without scepter trait) where i apply conditions and they wear off after exatcly the same time.
Imho vote sticky since this is extremely important and a lot of necromancer simply might not know this yet.
You wrote what I long suspected and motivated me to test it myself.. The unpleasant truth is, yes, you can’t stack bleeding duration (or any other condition duration) over 100%.
Good news is, the scepter 33% increase is not affected by this and works MULTIPLICATIVE with the others. More good news is, szepter main hand attack inflicts 5 seconds of bleeding, no matter what the tooltipp trys to tell us, it definitely is 5 seconds.
Bad news is, pizza is affected by this cap, so if you have 30% from traits, 40% from pizza and 20% from Hemophilia you have a whooping 10% left to get from gear, usually via sigil of Agony on offhand.
This is very sad, but somehow it makes sense. Atleast we don’t run to much risks of permanently overcapping our bleeding with this.
