From a RP perspective, it’s okay to believe that Zhaitan is dead even if the players know or suspect otherwise. If you and others have been RPing that your characters are sure that Zhaitan is long gone, then keep on doing it. If he’s revealed to still be alive later on it will be a nasty shock for your characters, regardless of what the players might know or believe.
Remember to always keep IC and OOC knowledge separate, and you’ll have no problems.
We see inter-species relationships all the time in GW2, and while it seems perfectly reasonable that most races would adopt children of any other race (Including humans adopting Charr cubs), I have doubts about a Charr parent adopting a human child.
Maybe if the Charr parent in question was mated to a human, then adopting human children wouldn’t be out of the question, but for the sake of the argument let’s take a look at a more extreme – and admittedly cliched – scenario.
A Charr warband just finished sacking a human separatist outpost and are about to head for home when one of the Charr notices a squirming, crying baby still alive in the rubble. The child’s parents were presumably separatists and are now dead by the warband’s hands, and leaving it behind would mean certain death for the child. So, either out of guilt or compassion or for whatever other reason, this Charr decides to take the baby home. The Charr in question has no mate, making him/her the single parent of this human baby. Perhaps at first he/she tries to find the baby a human home, but becomes attached over time and winds up raising the human as his/her own.
What sort of social stigmas would the Charr and the child live with? Would it be safe to publicly raise the child (e.g. let him/her run around in the Black Citadel streets and pay with the other cubs)? Would the child be forever barred from joining one of the Legions and following in his/her parent’s footsteps? Would the Charr parent be exiled for bringing a human child into Charr lands? Would the child be exiled? Would either of them be killed?
I know relations between the humans and Charr have gotten better, but as far as I know the treaty hasn’t been signed yet and there are still strong racial tensions on both sides, given their shared past. This suggests that it wouldn’t be impossible for a Charr to raise a human, but it would be unlikely and there would be social consequences. I’m wondering what those would be.
Your question then has absolutely zero to do with Legendary weapons and instead very simply;
Warrior
or
Rangerand there is a post about EXACTLY THAT at least twice a week. Did you bother doing any light research? On top of that you then proceed to ask “Which class is more fun to play?” for someone so upset about people responding with highly opinionated answers try not asking a question that literally not a single person can answer for you.
Person 1: I’m getting a Legendary for one of these two classes I don’t play at all. Which is more fun?
Person 2: I obviously can’t answer that question but I think you should wait then till either they release a Legendary you do like or allow you to use the Legendary you do like on the class you actually use.
Person 1: No I can just transfer my candy to another character.
Person 2: No, you can’t here is why. This information is readily available and I really think you shouldn’t be getting a Legendary for a class you don’t even play.
Person 1: That’s not what I wanted to know and I don’t want you’re opinion about how I should flaunt and waste my money on candy simply because I can. Here is a thread just on the SECOND page that are what you’re looking for
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Rangers-lend-me-your-ears/first#post2665164
I hope this helps. I admit I got a little testy with you because I had to explain some stuff and am having a bad day. I shouldn’t have. Please accept my apology, read that thread and if you have any questions people can actually answer let me know.
Again, sorry and thank you.
I’m sorry you’re having a bad day, I know how that is. I do accept your apology and I’m sorry for getting a little testy myself.
As for the other posts, I have read a few. The one you linked me, for example, asks specifically about Rangers and Warriors in WvW, which is not something I enjoy doing. Literally the only time I have ever set foot in WvW has been to get my Gifts of Exploration for crafting my legendaries. I realize that there are multiple posts asking similar questions, but they’re each uniquely tailored to the person asking the question, so when I didn’t find one that applies to my situation I decided to make my own post.
My situation is I want a DPS class for use in PvE that can use a longbow, which is why I mentioned the legendary in the first place, the longbow is important to me. I don’t really like the way the Warrior plays and the only thing I don’t like about the Ranger is the pet mechanic, which can get sticky in PvE.
That said, is the pet mechanic something that Ranger players learn to live with and, dare I say it, might even become fun after a while?
I should also mention that the only reason I made this post instead of just rolling a Ranger is because my roster is full and every character on it is decently high in level. I don’t want to delete any of them (I deleted one once thinking that Anet would restore the character if I asked like just about every other MMO does. They told me that they don’t do that here.) or drop cash/gold on gems for a new character slot if it doesn’t look like I’ll enjoy playing a Ranger. The only way I can tell whether or not I might enjoy it is through asking other people about their own experiences, how they use their Ranger, what the strengths and weaknesses of the class are, and so on.
I said, why not wait to see if any other classes get it or if there is a newly implemented Legendary Longbow skin you might prefer.
You said, if they do then i’ll transmute the weapon, putting it on a low lvl weapon.What we know;
-There will more than likely be additional Legendary skins.
-Legendary weapons will have Ascended Weapon stats and have custom stats. What does this mean?
You get a Legendary now for a class you don’t play.
Problem. You get a Legendary now for a class you don’t play.
ANet makes update that comes out with new Legendary you wanted for a class you did play.
Problem. You get a Legendary now for a class you don’t play.
ANet comes out with Ascended Weapons and Custom stat Legendary.
and/or
ANet expands the options of weapons for classes.
You transmute Legendary onto low level weapons or even an Ascended weapon to use on another class.
You lose custom stats.
ProblemIf you are not 100% sure on what you want. THEN DON’T GET ANYTHING. You’re not a child in a candy store that fells he HAS to spend his allowance just because he’s there. Get another Legendary for a class you actually play or wait until you don’t have to ask questions.
First of all, drop the attitude. The question I asked in my original post was regarding which class is more fun and rewarding, it was not about whether or not I should get the legendary. I would appreciate it if we could get this thread back on topic.
Second, I’m not crazy about most of the legendaries. Some of them are just bad jokes, like The Moot for example. I use a mace all the time on my Guardian, but The Moot is a disco ball. I wouldn’t be caught dead with a disco ball.
Third, I can’t find a legendary that I like more than Kudzu. In my opinion it would be worth trying to get into the Warrior or the Ranger if I could use it. If I’m going to craft a legendary, then why should I settle for something that I don’t like just because I might use it a little more often? Because you say so?
Bottom line; if you’re going to answer a question, make sure you’re actually answering the question that has been asked and do it in a more respectful way. I don’t appreciate being insulted and preached at by someone who didn’t even bother to read or is unable to understand the point of my original post.

How about not waste money or time making a Legendary only usable by two classes, neither of whom you seem to care for much?
They will probably either eventually come out with more Legendary weapons OR expand the weapons classes can use (so more can use Longbow) so rather then getting one for two classes you don’t play why not wait?
If that day ever comes, I’ll transmute Kudzu to a low level weapon and transfer the graphic to one of my other classes. I assume you can do that with Legendaries, anyway.
I’ll assume you’ll also lose the ability for said Legendary to have custom stats when that day comes as well.
Should I care about stats? It was my understanding that Legendaries have the exact same stats as Exotics, and the only point in getting them is for their unique graphics.
You should, if you wanna try multiple builds.
So, transmuting the graphic onto an exotic with the exact same stats is somehow worse? Or is there something I’m missing here?

I’m getting close to being able to craft a Legendary and I have my eyes on Kudzu, but I don’t know what class I want to put it on. There are things that I like and things that I hate about both classes, and no one is higher on my list than the other.
On the one hand, I have a level 75 Warrior already who has T3 cultural, expanded bag slots and just about every dye in the game, so I have a lot of money invested on the character even though I don’t play her that often. I like the fact that the warrior is an armored class, but I already have a Guardian that fits that role perfectly who I really enjoy playing. And last but not least, I’m not a fan of the Warrior longbow abilities. I just can’t see myself shooting fire and bombs from Kudzu.
On the other hand I don’t have a Ranger at all, so I would have to start from scratch, level up and invest gold over time where I wouldn’t have to with my Warrior. I really don’t like the pet mechanic, but I love the Ranger’s longbow abilities.
I just can’t decide, so I’m hoping to hear some of your opinions on the matter. Is Kudzu better on a Warrior or a Ranger? Which class is more fun to play?
I was tempted to post this thread in the Norn section of the forums, but since it seems to be largely for non-lore based conversation I thought I might have better luck here.
When a Norn chooses his mate but that mate dies and leaves him a widower, how does that Norn move on with his life? Would he be expected to put the past behind him and possibly seek out a new mate? Would he be expected to remain loyal to the memory of his deceased mate until he joins her in the Mists? Or is it entirely a matter of personal preference and it depends on the Norn in question?
Or you know, they just can make them instanced for every player.
Do not blame the players for their playstyle (as annoying as it is for you), blame the game mechanics. The game mechanics are what they are, but there’s no reason to screw over other players when it takes a few seconds longer not to.
Oh really? Well today I was good enough to wait for 2 other palyers in a low level map (I was first tot he holoprojector). When we activated the holoprojector, the warrior rushed through the mobs and killed them instantly.
Again, why should I follow your miniguide?
Because you’re better than that warrior, aren’t you? If not then kindly redirect yourself to another thread. I’m not going to argue the merits of etiquette and courtesy with anyone. Either follow it or don’t. That’s all there is to it.

Ever since the hologram projectors made their appearance yesterday, I’ve been seeing a lot of high level players running around in low level zones using speed buffs and aoes to burn down the hologram mobs with no thought to the people around them. It’s happened to me, and I’m guilty of doing it to others. So in an effort to keep this event fun for everyone I thought I’d point out a few things.
Feel free to contribute your own rules of Courtesy.
1.) There is no rush. If you reach a hologram projector and see someone else running your way, wait for them to reach the projector before you activate it. There’s no reason to hog the mobs.
2.) Everyone gets their own loot. So if you’re a high level character in a lower level zone and there are other people near the projector waiting to take a stab at what comes out, resist the urge to use your high-damage AoE abilities. One shotting the group may get you on the road to your next projector faster, but if no one else was able to damage them, no one else gets any loot.
3.) Help people clear normal mobs, especially if the mob/player is almost dead. If you and another person clear a projector but wind up pulling a non-event mob, help them kill it instead of moving on to the next projector and leaving them behind to deal with it themselves, especially if you are a high level and they are a lower level.
4.) Don’t steal projectors. If you see a lower level player clearing out a group of non-event mobs around a projector, it’s safe to assume that they intend to activate it once the area isn’t so croweded. It is incredibly poor form to activate the node while the other player is busy fighting Ettins, letting them do all the work while you reap all the reward. Instead of taking advantage of the situation, take a few seconds to lend a hand and help them clear out the mobs keeping them from the projector.
5.) Remember that projectors spawn quickly. It’s okay if you miss out on one because you took a few seconds to help out someone else instead of steamroll over them. Just pull up your map, find a new location and head there instead.
6.) If you have no intention of showing other players any courtesy and have an ‘Every man for himself’ mentality, then at least leave the lower level zones and farm mobs your level. Not only will you be giving lower levels a chance to farm their own holograms, but there are typically fewer people competing for kills in the higher level areas.

This may sound odd but some people have been able to get it to work by changing the language to French finish the download and then back to English. I’m not kidding either it works for some people:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Help-Game-won-t-load-completely
Hope it works for you.
Thank you, for some reason that fixed the problem perfectly. Isn’t that strange?
I tried to reinstall the game today, but it gets stuck at 99%. It says it has 1 file remaining but it can’t seem to download it. I can restart the launcher and it will try to download whatever that final file is, but the download speed always drops rapidly to 0.00KB/sec.
What can I do to fix this?
I’ve been roleplaying for years, but I’m very new to Guild Wars and the lore behind it. I’m interested in the Norn, but I’m having trouble finding much information. Can anyone tell me a bit more about them in general?
Particularly, I’d like to understand their ‘Mists’ more, but I can’t find much on that at all. And general information about their culture would be an amazing help.
Rping, ya know I don’t out and out despise the people that do it, but fgs do so many do it so BADLY that it makes me wanna bury my face in the drywall, repeatedly.
They don’t keep in line with the environment they’re trying to blend into and emulate, divinities reach may have armor clad knights and ye olde style fashion, but no one uses “thee” instead of “you” and yet, a few rp’ers have crossed that line.
So, we get people INTERPRETING how it should be for immersion, and then destroying natural immersion for others as a result. However more power to those who RP and do it justice, I’m sure as long as they’re not annoyingly ramming it down the throats of non rp’ers then it’s a fine and enjoyable way of enhancing the experience of Guild Wars 2.
This is what put me off joining a role-play guild in GW1. It was all “Tell me good sir, where doth thee findeth a taven in these parts?” and in a game where the NPCs use fairly modern language it just looked rediculous.
That and there was a lot of Pride & Prejudice style, overly polite “I wonder if I might beg your permission for a moment of your time in which to trouble you with the impertience of a question?” style dialogue going on and neither me nor my character has the patience for that. Even if I managed to stay in character it’d still involve rolling my eyes and telling them to get on with it.
I usually find that these kinds of people are new to RP and just try way too hard. A few helpful whispers and taking the time to lead by example (mostly by RPing with them or at least having them watch) usually sets them on the right track. Luckily I think these players are in a decreasing minority.
When you try to log in during peak hours, more than likely you’ll be put into an overflow server.
Overflow servers are the ‘in-between’ servers that still allow you to play normally, while waiting for the server queue. After a bit (sometimes it’s as fast as a minute, sometimes slo as 15) You’ll get a message saying you can now enter the server. It’s a really nifty feature.
These overflow servers allow you to play your character that you’ve created on your home world while you wait, or do you have to make new ones? Either way it does sound interesting.
Thanks for the replies all.
Looks like Tarnished Coast is full and I can’t select that world. Is that a permanent thing? Is there any workaround? I’d happily wait in a queue but that doesn’t look like it’s a possibility.
Try in the off-peak hours later tonight.
Thanks, I’ll try that. One last question though. If go create my characters during slower hours and I try and log on again later during peak hours, will I not be able to get in? Or will it always make room for people who have characters on the world?
Once you get in, you will be able to log on normally, not restricted by the status found on account/server home creation. However, as this continues we may some day see queues for login. I have not yet seen this and I play on EST prime time.
Thank you! I’ll wait a while and get in when I can.
And thanks to everyone who suggested TC, I’m looking forward to seeing you all there.
roleplaying is dead.
we have “troopers” behind their computer screens. virtually complaining.
long gone are the days of pen and paper. and of roleplayers.
Roleplaying is where and how you make it. It can be online in a computer game, in a tabletop game, or even in bed! It will never die as long as people have imagination.
Thanks for the replies all.

I’m new to the game and I noticed that when choosing a world to play on, there aren’t any designations such as PvP/PvE/RP servers.
I want to be on the best server for Role Play, but as it stands I don’t know which ones have thriving Role Play communities. Do they all? Is it only a handful? Or is there one server that rises above the rest as is the case in many MMOs?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
A little more info: I’m generally looking for a heavily populated server located in America.
