The obligation to find a premade team to achieve ANYTHING at this game annoys me the most. Give structured and organized teams better rewards, but give us other players at least the chance to play competitively and have some fun.
Communicating on Facebook and Twitter is good, but should not be the priority. There are a lot of people who don’t like those social platforms (aka companies that sell your personal info for profit). I expect updates in the launcher of the game, not on a third person site.
Since I pay no subscripion fee, I just quit the game and will return when sPvP is starting to become fun. There are so many great games out here at the moment, just give GW2 a break and come back in 2-3 months…
The problem is, that past 80 you still have the grind at Gw2 – but not the rewards. The only thing you can do is grinding Orr. Or grinding dungeons for Tokens. Ohnwait, you can grind sPvP for Honor. Do you seriously want to tell me that completing a dungeon 90+ times is fun for you?
So, obviously PVE is not meant to be played after 80 and after completing your exploration. You can achieve this pretty fast.
The only thing left to do is PvP. Unfortunately, at the current state PvP at Gw2 is zerg only and that makes it pretty unappealing and boring for me. Besides things like downed states, Mesmers, Thieves, Shooter mentality, Auto Balancing, Glory for kills only aaaand no rewards. At least you could give us some dyes. :p
F_F_S. Can someone delete this thread please? It’s impossible to post with my tablet.
( Don’t pre-write text on your iPad unless you want the formatting going crazy :P )
Did not read through the whole thread but you know whta would be great? an overview of possible combos ingame. Maybe as soon as you discover them by accident. Based on your weapons and those of the other classes. Maybe like the weapon skill overview.
You simply cannot force people to search 3rd party web pages for info on this. And is has to work in PUGs, not only in 5-men-TS-guild-groups.
Level 60 (+ several alts 10-20), Warrior main, Happiness 8-9
Just in case you want to know: 9+ for PvE, 8- for PvP (Mesmer/Thief, downed states, auto balancing, focus on Zergfest instead of victory conditions, advanced PvP only for large guilds, no real incentive for a casual PvPler like me (rank 9 classic WoW))
What? We have a strng CC, a good damage skill and the chance to ressurect. What exactly is lacking here? Warriors downed state is right behind the way overpowered ones of Mesmer and Thief. They should just get rid of the whole concept in PvP.
The problem here is psychological I guess and I am totally backing the OT. If you work hard for the victory, you deserve to win. Guess what, not everybody plays Death-Match-Style Zerg & Kill games. Some people – like me – play for the team (yes, even in Hotjoin!!) and not for my Glory Points.
34 * 50c is 17 Silver in my calculator… ^^
Guys, you don’t get it. As in WvW, the object of hotjoin PvP is zerging. That’s the only available tactic. And I agree that this completely sucks. But, the majority of the players out there love zerging. That’s the only thing they care about. Running around in a senseless blob, spamming their abilites and stomping another player with 5-6 guys to grab the most available glory points.
Defending points? Nay, not doing this. Zerging is the way to go.
I find this system and idea totally boring. Usually I am a big of PvP in MMOs, but GW2 somehow manages it in a way that I am only interested in PvE at the moment.
GW2 is not meant for big improvements in gear, but maybe there could be a way to include progress-style ideas to it. Being it (prominent) titles in a ranking system, cool looking armor/weapons, crafting recipes and other status symbols. Players need a goal. This does not necessarily mean that you need to implement the gear grind.
Every game has a goal. It is part of the fun. At least a ladder with different leagues would be a start.
I also do not get this… make him permanently and I’ll upgrade immediately. That’s a lot of cash without any balance changes.
The downed state in sPVP is pretty stupid, if you fight lets say a 3:3 and you are the last one standing, you cannot kill them as they will heal way too fast. The “raindance” takes way too long. It’s no fun and the downed states of many classes are way too strong. Thiefs, Mesmers, Warriors coming to mind (I am playing a warrior btw).
It’s great fun in PvE because you can rush there and help people, but in PVP it is one of the worst decisions I have seen in this game. Especially because you get points for completung the dance as well as you need those for the monthly achievement in WvW. Meaning 5-6 people are teying to stomp instead of focussing on living things.
Well, just get rid of it in PvP please.
In my last sPVP game I encountered 4 Mesmers and 4 Thiefs in the enemy team (not joking, not exaggerating) and we lost by 500:150. I don’t really mind the result cause it was hotjoin and it could all depend on skill. But the game was absolutely no fun for our group. You got killed in seconds, even as a Sword & Board Warrior with lots of trait points in Vit/Tou.
Even more, it was nearly inpossible to kill anyone because it takes ages to kill a Mesmer or Thief in downed state. Actually this is my main concern about those classes. Where is the fun when you need 10+ seconds to get this stupid killing move of?
And finally, what completely goes on my nerves is the ability to go invisible nearly all the time, regardless of any damage or dots on them. This is just silly and plain stupid!
As the OP is opening posts in every class forum but the Necro is would just advise in not feeding the troll.
Let’s face it – if you complain about damage issues, it’s mostly your fault. PvP OPness is more about stuns and control abilities than about rawdamage.
Try Axes / Warhorn… that’s the good stuff.
@irishbrewed
I am playing a warrior, too. You are definately right that the personal story quests are more difficult than the rest of the game but I think it’s still manageable. Especially when compared to Beta (having a hard time back then).
Try and getting an easy PvE level spec. For the Warrior, the means signed spec (+40 Pre per unused sign) and a Great Sword or Dual Axe. Get the healing skill with constant regeneration. Get a ranged weapon on your second skill, it doesn’t matter whether Rifle or Longbow.
Now run circles around your enemies. You can use Rifle skill #2 to slow your enemies constantly. If there is any problem (skill on cooldown) – dodge. And kite your enemy. Melee attacks are only viable if you are much stronger than your enemy, especially when you use 100 blades as you get rooted and take a lot of damage. If you prefer to use axes, switch to them as soon as your adrenaline bar is full and use eviscerate (skill F1).
I totally doubt that you get hit for 75%, this was only the case in the beta in a Dynamic Event with 50+ players. If this happens, you miss something (using a special item etc).
Guys. really.. please get your self familiar with dodging, kiting and movement. This is not WoW or SWTOR. It’s a different game. You cannot stand there and take the hits. You have to move. I am Claw Island now (Lvl 50+) and the personal quest was epic. I died like 5 times.
But – so what? I just revived and got back to the fights. Your enemies stay dead.
It is not difficult, just challenging. And I am definately no pro gamer, I’m not even close to 80 at the moment.
IMHO we just need the following changes to make the TP work:
- delete the ability to sell items on the TP from everywhere. Make people need to go to a TP vendor to sell things. You need to go there to collect your items, so it makes only sense to go there to sell them
- for each auction, show the exact amount of fee that is taken by the TP in a prominent way (like in the centre of the screen.. bold type)
- get rid of the “match lowest price” button
This would help.. a lot.
Man, you really need to learn to play. I got annihilated by a specific Necro in my last games. Maybe they need some love from the developers, but if you know how to play them they kickkitten I did not look much into that class, but wasn’t Plague extremely strong in PvP?
Have you ever engaged a Moa-Transformer Mesmer or a Pistol Whip / HS Thief? Compare this to a Warrior and you see how out off place your request is.
Man, I am really hoping that ANet is not listening to any of those nerf threads. It’s just hilarious how people are unable to press the Q or E key and avoid 100B by 100%. A channeled ability that roots the Warrior in place. Seriously guys?
I have to admit that the grass is always greener on the other side and that I HATE Mesmers (and Thiefs to some extend), but balancing should be based on proper testing and feedback from high-level pvp. Not on whining.
Crafting is fairly easy in this game. I have to admit that I am only at 200 WS / 200 JC but so far, after the initial copper rush, it’s plain easy. I do not even have to farm anything, I just go to the crafting area after a few hours of gaming and can level up without any issues. Maybe you should read/view some guides about discoveries and do not try to level two jobs that need the same ressources (like WS and AS).
A second bar with the current XP would be really useful… didn’t know that it is account-wide, so you better not switch to a low-level toon before completing it. How about PvP, does a death there reset the counter?
I really would appreciate a small scale PvP area, because I’m mainly playing this game with one friend and do not like to join big anonymous guilds. But I guess the balancing issue would be too difficult.. get 2 Thiefs or 2 Mesmers and the game would be over in no time.
Even if you tell people that the game is balanced for 8v8, no one would really care and spam the forums. Just take a look at the WoW forums..
