GW2 Error upon closing the game

When i close the game through ingame option, alt + f4, or just when i close the client, i get an GW2 error.
I tried the -repair command under windows but it didn’t work so far.
My next step would be a new installation.
Does someone else have this problem?

Since a few weeks i have massive lags, ping above 500 and so on.
I started using WTFast and i dropped to a ping 30 to 40.
Since the patch i get an Guildwars2 Error when i try to log in while WTFast runs.
Without it the game is unplayable and now i can’t log in with it running.

Is there an alternative that works or do i have to quit?
What could cause this problem?

I would test Wildstar but they have login problems with new created chars :S

What ever the kitten you try to improve, stop it.
It’s not getting better it’s getting worse from day to day.
Last week i had an avg ping 70-150, now i get an avg ping from 100-600 and thats while standing in heart of the mist and switching weapons. What the kitten?
Every game i start, world of warcraft to a kitten free to play 08/15 korea grinder on an private server hosted by an 14 year old kid named Timmy, my ping is between 20 and 60.
Only gw2 is that terrible.
I tried verything:
Run on a fresh windows 7 with every driver up to date
W-lan
Lan
D-Lan
(just marginal differences)
VPN’s (some work 100-200, some have dc’s after some minutes)
etc.

The game makes fun in it’s playable form, but i can’t even remember how it is to play with no lags.

Solve me this riddle (lag and co.)

Avg ping of 118 in heart of the mists, also EU.
In a match it’s even worse, goes up to 800
I am tired of these lags, i can’t even tell how it is to play without lag anymore.

Old vertical camera position

The patchnotes said, there is a new vertical camera option, so i tested the sliders.
The problem is now, that i am not able to get my old vertical position back, because i forgot to take a screenshot.
I know that i had vertical at default + “adjust to character height” checked, but the new default option brings my char to the buttom of the screen.
When i put the slider to the left and zoom in and out the camera goes in a straight line, but it feels that my camera is too low.
Where do i have to put the sliders, to get the old default camera positions back?

Even EU has these problems.
Terrible lag inside heart of the mists, pvp matches, etc.
Ping between 80 (best result) and up to 1000+ (2685 worst result ingame)
Sometimes it is so bad the option menu shows a ping of 0.
I think their servers can’t handle all the new players.
It’s time to take Gw2 and Wildstar and put them on different servers, because i believe these games share the servers. Either that or the illuminati are involved

Since todays patch i get random gw2 errors. There is no muster.
I view a char in pvp gw2 error.
I hit someone with a skill gw2 error.
My drivers are up to date, i didn ‘t changed something on my machine.
It’s wierd.

d3dx9_xx.dll was not found

So I played yesterday, logged out and turned my pc off.
Today i start GW2 and i get a small window with the message “d3dx9_45.dll was not found. Please install the game again.”

Google said that these messages appear when some directx files are not there and you can install the game again or install directx again. I installed directx again and the problem was gone.

Now my question is, was this the right way or do i have to install GW2 again?
And why do i get such an error when i didn’t have one yesterday?

My PC is Windows 7, no upgrade to Windows 10
Driver are all up to date.

Ok I saw a few weeks ago that it’s possible to use “Superior Sigil of Air” + “Major Sigil of Air” together, because they don’t share a cooldown and have both 5 sec cd.
I went with my thief to Orr and tested it on a “Risen Noble”.
I just autohitted with 80% critchance and both sigil proced a lighning strike, which both showed in combat log with ca 1200 dmg each +/- a few digits.
I dont know if that was with full power stacks + food but later more.

Today i had a strange feeling, so i went back to orr and hit a “Risen Noble” and i saw a lightning strike for 850 dmg. I thought maybe thats because no stacks of power but i am sure i didn’t have any in the past test.
So with above 3k power the lightning strike hit for 1085 and thats a lot less than 1200.

I am sure my lightning strike hitted for 1200 dmg.
In PvP lightning strike just hits for 700-800 dmg and befor patch i think it was 1000.
The same thing belongs to “Superior Sigil of Fire”, the dmg is weaker.

So something happened to the sigils and i found nothing in the patchnotes.
Do you recognized the same?

With that wierd revealed “bug” in mind, I will make a prediction for the future.
This thread is just for the proof.

When HoT goes live, all stealth abilitys will give 1-2 sec revealed when you enter the normal-mode (from stealth → normal).
Today they just wanted to put this file or what ever in and failed, so it went live with the exception that it triggers in stealth.

Call me stupid or what ever but

Thats intended, but you dont have to see the thief just have him in target to spam your 1 on him. Be happy that the tree don’t work as an object and you can fire through.

And what happens to the valkyrie wvw backstab thieves? Nearly all dmg comes from backstab(with hiddenkiller) as a 100% crit and to some extend cnd and autohit.
The power stays the same, but your crit dmg will be lower, so in a 100% crit scenario you will deal less backstab dmg excatly as your crit dmg will sink. That means you do with 100% crit dmg 8000 dmg and after that you have maybe 70% and deal 5600 dmg with backstab.

Is this accurate or am i wrong cause you will always crit with backstab and if everything is in that moment the same except the crit dmg you will lose a lot.

You use backstab and get an error screen:
“Error 404: crit not found, you were disconnected from the server and are unable to log in for 42 seconds.”

What bothers me the most is that we are unable to use different rune sets in spvp after the patch. There are some runes who give good boni in the 5/6 range but the 6th bonus is not good all the time, like the scholar runes. One hit and your 6/6 bonus is gone. Its like you would just use only 5 and not 6 runes on set. We all now how easy it is to drop as a glasscanon under 90% hp. Your first combo profits from the 10% and after that you get one bleed and its gone.
I hope we are still able to mix runes. The rune balance itself and how the runes will look is on another side and we will see.

Runes in PvP and the feature patch

With the upcoming feature patch in april we are no longer able to stack different rune sets to boost certain stats.
In the future we decide which rune we want to use and get all 6/6 boni on our char.
The good thing is build swapping only needs a few clicks

My question is, what happens with the people who like 5/6 runes + an additional rune.

On my thief i use 5/6 scholar + 1 divinity because i don’t like the 10% dmg above 90% hp.
I just have to get 1 little hit and i lose the 6th bonus of my set and have to go with that until i am above 90%.
For the first attack (cnd, steal into backstab) the 10% are good, but oneshot is already gone, except the target is low on health but there are these 10% just a nice to have.

I would like your opinion on this topic.

Stealth builds after the 10.12.2013

This is all about builds which take “Infusion of Shadow” to gain ini upon entering stealth. I will show a maybe good build for D/P (traits only, gear and utilitys are your choice) and explain how the “Infusion of Shadow” fix will affect stealth builds

At the 10.12.13 thief will see some change in their resource management.
One is the “fix” on “Infusion of Shadow” to gain only 2 initiative on entering from nostealth to stealth and not from stealth to stealth.
With this “fix” perma stealth D/P will be near dead or you could spend all your ini one time to leap through “Black Powder” 3-4 times and gain a good amount of stealth.
After that you have 0 ini and you have to run away.
If you play D/P more agressivly and dont need to stack stealth, because you use every backstab possible, not much will change.

But how will the thief trait in the near future?
If you play D/D you can stay with 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/30/30/10
but i think D/P will trait differently in the future.
The amount of stealth D/P could gain is perfect for the trait “Shadow’s Rejuvenation”
to get the maximum hp reg out of it.
But you cant stack stealth very good in the future without blowing your utility skills.
And with that i mean “Shadow Refuge”.
So maybe a D/P thief will specc 0/30/25/15/0 to gain 1 extra dodge roll,
only use 1 “Heartseeker” in “Black Powder” for 3 sec stealth, use every backstab if possible and only use more “Heartseeker” to run away and survive. With that you can counter every melee or warrior. Conditions can be a problem, because you cant go through “Black Powder” with “Heartseeker” multiple times in a row anymore.

With all that in mind it is not possible to…
regain full ini with “Shadow Refuge”
regenerate a huge amount of health in stealth
gain 2 ini again after going stealth and gaining stealth
(stealth + heal “Hide in Shadows” = only 2 ini on the first stealth)
gain near “infinte” stealth with “Black Powder” / “Smoke Screen” + “Heartseeker”
clear more conditions with the “stealth combo”
stack stealth very high in dungeons to avoid trash
walk behind a zerg in stealth and spy the hell out of them

And that means…
carefull use of stealth utilitys to not lose 2 ini
maybe “more” skill needed for stealth builds
less condi remove (hi @ necros)
more time seeable and most of the time main target by raging warris who you downed
the last matches in spvp or in front of their spawn in wvw.

What bugs me the most is the amount of stealth for 1 “Heartseeker” + “Blackpowder”.
The thief uses for that combo, if traited, 7 ini for 3 seconds of stealth, while D/D needs to hit the target but gain 4 seconds for 4 ini.
I think the combo should cost 6 ini in total to be a little bit fair, cause you and me know that 3 sec are not long. In 3 sec everybody can avoid a backstab by running and dodging and for that 7 ini is too much.
Today that is no problem because of very good stealthstacking but in the future you may be not possible to get the backstab done in just 3 secs and shwoops you shot 7 ini into the wind.

There is no king! Both specs should be good for stealth while D/D is the single target close combat monster in pve.
D/D is just easier to counter while D/P can stealth regardless of the enemy.
Just look at it from another perspective. Now the have 2 good speccs S/D and D/P
No 1 is good in tpvp and No 2 is good in wvw for roaming. With the patch they take the speccs dunk them down the toilett and now the have all thief speccs on the level of D/D. High effort to kill another equaly skilled class. Sure now you can be happy when you kill another player but most of the time you will see where thief will stay in this meta.

After the patch, when the most thieves have switched classes or play condition thief (D/D or P/D) the QQ about thief conditions will start ^^

I can’t understand all this whine about perma stealth thieves!
I played thief, ele, necro, ranger and the new fotm warri. I never had any trouble with perma stealth thieves. All you need to do is to screw the first heartseeker and pump all your dmg into them, boom dead thief. They can stay all night and day in stealth but that didnt kill a player. Oh you took your lv 24 ele twink to play some wvw to gain exp? That is the mistake, but every class would kill you 1on1. And kitten is perma stealth usefull in a zerg vs zerg situation. You can walk in the enemy zerg and die while you have stealth.

Lets look at this: (patch plans for 10.12.13)
CnD gives with 30 SA 4 sec stealth for 4 ini
BP+HS gives for 1 time 3 sec stealth and cost 7 ini
and every new attemp costs 3 ini for +3 sec
so for 5-6 (due to lag/cast hs) sek stealth you would need 10 ini
now you use backstab and now…lets autohit them for 8 secs to gain 10 ini (yay 33% increase and 5 sec cd on opportunist)
you see that is just stupid.

How the patch could form the future:
1. many thieves quit or join other classes.
The thief who roamed and was nearly useless for wvw rerolls a guard or warri or something else. The whiners will be…wvw is unfair the enemy server has so much zerg powaaaahhhh nerf nerf i cant win cause zerg here where everywhere rainbow.
2. The thieves switch from perma stealth and S/D to full backstab D/D or D/P
and you crybabys gonna cry…oh the 2 thieves just killed me and all they did was backstab nerf nerf and a-net hears your crying and boom backstab nerf
3. A-net realise how stupid this crap is and that bad players will always be bad and cry cry and cry. They just take a seat and rethink what would be good and not just some crys from bads

And now excuse me im gonna kill some lvl 24 ele’s in wvw cause it’s super good for my ego and i can give you some more reasons to cry.

I have the same problem too. I have it on a razer naga. I have another standard usb mouse and there is the problem as well. I can drag with my naga on the desktop with right click this square around like a psycho and nothing happens, just in gw2 my camera stops to rotate. In pve it is acceptable, but in pvp its gamebreaking. I have switched usb ports and as last hope have reinstalled my mouse driver. I hope this works. If not, it’s a ingame problem and not hardware related.

Ok after some hours testing a little bit in spvp i can tell that mug is our new healingability in our damage trait line

Mug deals damage between 1100 and 2100 in whichever state the enemy is.
My min dmg was 1121 and max was 2090.
But the healing part always hits between 1980 and 2450 for me.
I play 10/30/0/15/15 and pre patch i could duel anything and zergs weren’t problems either.
Mug is now a new healing trait and nothing more, if you would see that as a new player you would think they added dmg to the healing!!

That mug as GC was OP is right, but they could lowered it in other ways.
A few minutes ago i was killed by a thief, i looked at the mug dmg it stated 1327.
And that is laughable

Ok we arent supposed to burst anymore, but mesmers are allowed to shatter the kitten out of your head…sounds plausible!

Edit: The most builds this hurts, are the builds who put some points into def traits and mug allowed them to get some little burst. If you want to burst now, you have to go GC everything else is just more sustain than burst

I think in the mug nerf went something wrong from with the dmg coefficients.
I never hitted with mug an non crit under 2k, but now after the nerf my mug hits für 1400 +- some dmg

Ps: lowes mug hit is now at 1138 yeah, max dmg was 1975

A 2K heal on a 45sec cooldown? Seriously?

Mug wasnt nerfed by 2k dmg, my Mug deals MEGA HUGE AWESOME 1400 dmg…
1400 dmg every 45s, oh i forget it heals me for 1980 to 2400, more than it does dmg
yeah best trait ever now
Pre patch i could it for 4k to 6k dmg, sure thats a bit high, but 1400 is too low
