I suppose I wasn’t very clear on that. I received several winnings the first few times, but now, I don’t get ANYTHING. No mail, no event medal, not even to tell me I lost.

Yet that stupid little Asura still accepts my money.

I decided to try my luck at the Moa race earlier. I have almost no cash left, as I blew most of it on Zap, and I haven’t been playing a whole lately.

In any case, I won my first race, then placed second and third 2-3 times.

But now, I could’ve sworn that I had placed bets on some of the winning birds, and did not get a dime. In fact, the event did not even update to tell me that I had won OR lost. Yet now I’ve lost almost 2g (with about 10-20 silvers left), with nothing to show for it.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Dungeon reset question

Let’s say I’m doing a dungeon (TA, for instance). We enter the dungeon BEFORE the server reset. If we finish the run AFTER the reset, will it count toward the previous day’s limit, or toward the new one?

Timezone: Eastern Standard Time
Age: 21
Server: Crystal Desert
Looking for: General PVE and Dungeons, with a side of occasional WvW; also, new friends
Afflicted with: Altoholism (see “Main class” section), Canadian-born syndrome, amazing sense of humour

I’m currently part of a very small (and inactive) guild on Crystal Desert, which I’m not yet ready to abandon. This means that I’m currently not inclined to transfer servers at the moment. Luckily, that doesn’t prevent from doing dungeons, nor talking to guildmates (regardless of the medium).

Generally, I’d prefer a small-to-medium guild, but those usually end up going dead, so I’ll settle for any size, so long as the community is friendly and mature (e.g. no thirteen years-olds). These are by far the most important criteria.

Lastly, I’m looking for a guild that can help me learn new dungeon runs. I’ve been scarred (like many others) by bad runs with PUGs, so having a group with whom I can run dungeons (and learn new ones) would be great.

(The first section of my post is the concept itself, and the second half is my rationale for it)

GW1 allowed you to have up to 4 weapon sets selected. In GW2, we only get two, (or only one if you’re an Elementalist or Engineer). I fully understand that this is for the purpose of balance, which I am completely fine with.

I propose a rather simple idea, that would further ease the flow of gamplay, without actually hurting the balance: allow us to have more weapon set slots. For argument’s sake, let’s say 4. In each set slot, you could place your weapons. For example, my Necro could have the following setup:
-Set 1: Staff
-Set 2: Dagger/Dagger
-Set 3: Axe/Warhorn
-Set 4: Scepter/Focus

At this point, you are no doubt wondering how this can possibly be balanced. The second part of my idea (and really, the crucial part) is that all of your weapon sets would be displayed on your HUD (much like they were in GW1), but more importantly, each set would have a box with a check mark like those for the helmet and shoulders. At any given time, you would only be allowed to have two of these weapon sets selected (or only one, in the case of Elementalists and Engineer). Obviously, you would not be able to check/uncheck them during combat.

This would allow for quick and easy swapping of weapons, without having to open the hero panel, which is inconvenient (and annoying) in a number of ways. It could allow you to switch weapons on the fly, while still maintaining the game’s balance around two weapon sets.

My rationale:

The issue I have with the way the system is currently setup is that it’s often annoying to have to switch out your weapon set for a different one, regardless of your class. If I’m using Staff+Scepter/Focus on my Necro, trying to switch out the scepter and focus for two daggers can be annoying, especially when you have a limited window of opportunity to do so.

More importantly, I often have a hard time locating the weapons I’m looking for (while in the Hero window), especially when my inventory is full of loot; finding one specific staff among 20-30 other items can be an exercise in frustration at times. There’s also the fact that when I un-equip a weapon, or equip another one in its stead, the weapon goes back to my bags, but usually ends up mixed in with a pile of junk, rather than ending up in my invisible bag, where I usually keep spare weapons.

Ahoy!

I recently hit level 80 on my Necro, and I am looking for a guild with which to do Citadel of Flame runs. Like most people, I really want the armor set. Given my past experience, I would rather avoid using PuGs, since they tend to fall apart halfway in. Of course, I’m open to running other dungeons, but CoF is my priority.

Note: I haven’t done the story mode yet. Also, I am nowhere near to obtaining any form of exotic armor at the moment; I’m rolling with what I’ve found up until now.

I’m currently on the Dragonbrand server. I am in EST.

My only requirement is that you be a friendly bunch; I want to have fun doing this.

[Event] Clear undead from the oasis bugged

The “Clear undead from the oasis” event in Bloodtide Coast is bugged. It’s in the Whisperwill Bogs, at Cesseilia’s oasis. I’m currently playing on the Dragonbrand server.

For the past 20-ish minutes (if not longer, it was already in this state before I got there), the event has not progressed at all, and is therefore preventing us from doing the Heart Quest.

Essentially, we need to eliminate undead from the area, and there’s a counter that tells us exactly how many there are. However, only two are ever present at once. Once we kill those two undead, the counter remains stuck at 6, at which point there are absolutely no undead in sight. After a few minutes, the two undead we killed will respawn, increasing the counter back up to 8. Thus, the event keeps fluctuating between 6 and 8 undead, though 2 are actually visible.

Necros and Minions

I agree, minions are useless. I find them incredibly hard to manage, since we only have two methods of healing them: Mark of Blood, which provides Regen to allies when it’s triggered, and Well of Blood, our AoE heal. However, neither are particularly useful, especially Mark of Blood, since it requires an enemy to trigger it (thereby making your minions suffer additional damage).

I’ve found them to be quite helpful while mapping lower-level areas (such as the Brisban Wilds). However, this was only the case when I could actually get them to attack anything, assuming they hadn’t already dropped dead. Minions don’t seem to want to attack your target until they’re well below 50% HP, yet my Flesh Golem spends half his time aggroing and being killed by everything that moves [insert prostitution joke here].

Bottomline is that minions have great potential, but they need some serious improvements.

Necromancer Weapons

Personally, I usually run around with Axe/Focus and Dagger/Dagger. I like both skillsets very much, though they are very similar.

However, earlier, I discovered the wonders of using a Staff against large groups of enemies. Combined with Well of Suffering, I finally managed to beat the jump puzzle in Demongrub Pits. In order to reach the chest, I had to fend off 2-3 groups of oozes that each had 4-5 oozes, and two of which had a veteran. I’ve yet to ever take on so many opponents (and veterans) and come out alive, especially with so little time in between.

If they wait a while, there should eventually be openings. I used to be on Stormbluff Isle, but wanted to transfer to Dragonbrand to play with my guild. At the time, all but 3 of the NA servers were full. However, a day later, after having checked several times, I finally saw an opening on Dragonbrand.
