Stormbluff Isle - Double Sun Poweeeeeeer!

The Alliance did start yesterday. I was there for that attack on Stonemist. We stayed out of Yak’s way because they were taking you down. We planned on rushing in behind them after they wiped the SBI zerg but they capped it too fast and we got locked out. Nice conspiracy theory though.

In that case it must have happened more than once. This was on either Monday or Tuesday. Anybody tracking the flow of the battles throughout the week saw an obvious pattern emerging.

And forget ‘conspiracy theories’. I believe the only reason that the two servers concerned ’fessed up to it was those two bunches of kittens from YB and EB had a picture taken of them standing together in front of the SBI spawn point and waving.

Give us a break!

I can back that up.

Earlier in the week both YB and EB launched simultaneous assaults on the eastern side of SM when SBI held it. YB used two trebs to destroy the outer wall, but EB ignored the breach and continued assaulting the gate to the south of it. Within minutes, the YB main force turned up and stormed the breach, but each side held back to allow the other the opportunity to assault the inner defences and only took over when the other force was spent. I know because I was there on the defences throughout and saw each side avoid each other and attack in turn.

Alliance started yesterday? My kitten!

Oh, we understand alright. This week has been a great wake up call for SBI.

As an observer, an ex-soldier and a great reader of military history, I determined a long time ago that our tactics were one dimensional and limited. You’ll be amazed what you can learn by sitting on the map screen, listening to TS and reading map chat. With any luck this setback will bring our server leadership together to put together cohesive, flexible battle plans utilising a combination of specialised teams and improved command and control.

Personally, I think this is the best thing that could have happened to us. It’ll certainly require our commanders to re-appraise their strategy and start pulling together as a team. I look forward to the outcome.

You guys hear that? The sound of thousands of salty Stormbluff tears hitting the ground. Mmmmm, music to my ears.

You should change that strapline to ‘All things have a right to crow’

And karma is still a kitten. You’ll see.

This is metagaming, pure and simple. Establishing alliances and agreements outside of the game itself isn’t prohibited under any terms of use. It will however, destroy the only aspect of GW2 that keeps me playing.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view, the SBI community is reluctant to get involved in such alliances and skew a match in it’s favour which means it will be continuously defeated by those who do despite having some very talented commanders and committed WvW players. But I’m a realist who played EVE for six years and knows that the metagame is all when it comes to winning.

Oddly enough, if I was amongst the influential and respected members of the SBI community, I would be establishing the type of network of spies, informers, intelligence assets, saboteurs and temporary alliances that Goonswarm had in EVE online when I used to play. But I’m not, and strangely enough I’m proud of the stance they’re taking in all of this.

Let the other servers finesse their way up the ladder into the gold league, because when we were up against these servers before these alliances were being formed, SBI ended the week with close to a 100K point lead over our nearest rival. Imagine what is going to happen to these servers when they’re part of the top tier.

It’ll not be pretty.

And karma, as they say, is a kitten!

Will this livestream include WvW map development? I have no interest in sPvP other than as a tool to tests team builds for WvW.

Living Story is the expansion man, so many people just can’t seem to grasp that what they’re griping about no content, that’s what the living story is doing. As far as it “only going so far”, it can go as far an expansion would go, both of these things add content to the game, just in different ways.

Right now I’m enjoying the Tower of Nightmares and trying to get the achievements for it, if you can’t enjoy that then it’s not a.net’s fault. It’s your own jaded view on the game that’s hindering your capacity for fun.

Actually, I expressed my personal view on what content appeals to me and what does not and why, and I’m certainly not blaming Anet for anything. Their WvW design is absolutely inspired and the best implementation of a PvP arena that I’ve seen in any MMO I’ve played.

As for ‘jaded’, that implies that I originally enjoyed dungeon style content and got bored with it which isn’t the case. I never enjoyed it because it’s just not my thing, but I wouldn’t imply that there was anything wrong with people who did.

Put me down as another who would love to see an expansion for this game. The ‘Living World’ series of content can only go so far.

I joined a friend of mine in this game when it first came out because he raved about GW1, and in the beginning I was captivated. I had so much fun trying different races and classes and got really immersed in the various storylines – then I got all my characters to L80 and the fun stopped.

I’ll admit it – I hate dungeons and content that relies on OP bosses and spawns and that was all that I really found, so I logged out of the game for months. It was only when my friend told me to try WvW that I came back – and I love it! But that’s as far as it goes. Even the latest Living World edition is a variation of another dungeon (tried it, don’t like it, back to WvW). Without an expansion to continue my characters personal storylines or similar content that can be enjoyed by solo players, Living World content can only go so far.

I just hope the ‘Build-a-tougher-dungeon’ mentality doesn’t creep into the Edge of the Mists design otherwise I’ll pass that up too.

What's your perfect MMO?

Perfect MMO? Star Citizen

It’s not even in alpha yet, but it’s an MMO being build by a visionary, not a corporation with their eye on the bottom line.

Chris Roberts has already received nearly $21 million in donations/subscription to build his, and our dream.

Over a year later, and GW2 is...

I popped back in after a 10 month break and found there were a lot more things you could PAY for, but achieving anything in game has got harder.

I’m glad your having fun though, but I grind for 8+ hours a day during the working week. I don’t want to spend my free time doing the same thing for an even smaller reward.

Returning player - rewards for dailies?

LOL! Well, that was a very short return. I’ll head back to SWTOR then.

There’s no way I’m living in this game, which is what I’ll have to do to get what I wanted. I’ll be back when the developers come to their senses.

After a 10-month hiatus, I decided to come back to the game and start doing dailies again so I could complete my ‘Warden’ weapon set on my Sylvari and ended up with a ‘drop’ of karma rather than the jugs we used to get.

I’ve read they’ve nerfed the daily rewards, but how the hell do you amass enough karma these days to get anything worthwhile?

That what I meant. The insertion of Asuran weapons into one of the Sylvari tiers appears to be a placeholder mechanism. Norns, for example have three tiers, each with separate styles but all in keeping with the overall Norn design concept. I’d just like to see a third Sylvari ‘style’ to join Verdant and Warden.

Complaints about my Favorite Race

in Sylvari

Vasco.7328

Again, the lack of Sivlari armour outside of the Cultural tiers, the missing tier of cultural weapons (all the other races have three) and the lack of white through to green Silvari weapon drops.

This is certaily my favorite race to play, but I’m in the same boat as the original poster – I now level Silvari like crazy just to get to L35 and aquire the T1 sets. I did as he did originally, but I burned through so many transmutaion stones keeping the ethnic appearance and it started getting really expensive resource wise.

It just feels that the deadline for release was approaching, so they dropped the development and released the Silvari with what they’d created at that point.

I truly hope that more development time is spent on bringing this race to parity with the others sooner rather than later. Any annoucement from the devs on this subject would be very happily received from this quarter.

Sylvari equipment drops - Will this be fixed?

in Sylvari

Vasco.7328

I’m wondering if the lack of Sylvari weapon drops and karma awards from Sylvari are going to be addressed at any point. This race has become my favorite to play, but I’m burning through gold and transmutation stones just trying to keep the ‘look’ correct. No other race has this problem and the argument that the Azura and Sylvari share the same lands just doesn’t cut it:

Why should it cost more in gold and resources to play Sylvari fully than any other race?

[Bloody excellent work on the models and design – apart from the few graphical bugs e.g. bowstrings that actually fit the model, whoever put this race, costumes and equipment together deserves a design award]
