I’ve noticed a lot of people have been really discouraged from the fight because they see it as a pain, instead of enjoying the mechanics. Hopefully you change your mind about it and give it another try sometime, until then i’ll be doing all i can with my server to beat it!
Oh the boss mechanics are fantastic! There is a huge sense of panic and chaos with all that is going on and so many things need to be considered during the fight. I’m looking forward to what they might do to the other dragons later on.
I agree that Tequatl needs to have a few more minutes added to his fight,15 minutes seems like quite the challenge for servers that aren’t so used to the communication like Blackgate.
He Isn’t made to be a farmable boss anymore
I just want to get my two cents out there for the sake of those who think this update is a means to stop anyone from getting the new gear, less experienced players from enjoying the content, so on and so forth.
This event is made for the whole server to work united against a huge threat. And it has definitely made it feel as such. For what everyone has had to deal with as far as the hardest content, has been between Mad Kings Clocktower and Liadri. But never on a scale this large that required everyone making a team effort.
Is it tough? You bet, Impossible? No, a server has already proven that it can be beaten, and i tip my hat to them for their coordination and teamwork.
While i’m slightly worried that people will stop showing up to the event because of the fact it is so difficult (Looking back at Southshore and the Kraka.) I have no doubt people will want to for the chance for the Ascended weapons and such.
Congrats to the server(s?) that have beaten Tequatl, and here is hoping more servers will follow in victory!
Just the timer, worst case scenario you fell off and did it again.
This one added in a load of things that make this difficult without finding an exploit.
I love a challenge.
But this is a slaughter.
I realize it’s only been a day into the event, but just doing this one mini boss frustrates me to no end.
Yes, i am talking about the dreaded “Liadri the Concealing Darkness”.
The mechanics of her are straight forward, that much is easy to understand, but how much more unforgiving can you get?
-Insta killing spawns/aoe
-Orb of screw you
-Blinding the character for a brief moment (SERIOUSLY!?)
-Size of the cage in relevance of how much you can see at once.
I can just see the designers wringing their evil hands going “Yes! We have done it again!”
I like the idea, Orpheal.
It just bothers me greatly that we have racial abilities, yet they serve no real great purpose.
Now the idea came to me yesterday, almost no one in the game uses the characters race abilities simply because they are weaker versions of other abilities save for the elites.
I know its meant to be balanced so that no other race is more commonly used over the others, but to be honest i like the idea that instead of sacrificing a useful skill for a moderate one, i can have that one slot specifically for one of my race abilities.
The idea is that
1. It breathes more life into the characters we made so we actually feel like what we are, instead of just “Oh, you are a warrior”
2. It gives people more options in how they want to set up their character, for instance i have a Charr warrior, and “Battle Cry” is a weaker version of “For great Justice” so having the extra skill is always nice.
3. Keep it strictly PvE. The area where the major unbalances take place is in PvP.
But that’s just something I’ve been tossing around in my noggin for a bit to add more flavor to our characters and the races we chose. Granted it doesn’t HAVE to be 100% as I’ve stated, but being able to have the option of throwing in one of our race abilities into the mix without sacrificing out utility seems great.
Good stuff to know.
I have to agree that warriors shine most in PvE.
Can’t say i have seen any MMO that really lets warriors shine in PvP as everyone said xD Bit of a shame too considering i actually perfered PvP in guild wars 1 over this.
I’m seeing a lot of people throwing things in the air about warriors. Though no one really states if they are lacking PvE or PvP strength.
Off personal experience, i still find them incredibly strong in PvE (Still running Great sword warrior, just swapped some traits due to patch and i don’t notice a huge difference other than losing some crit chance.)
I have to say, i hate PvPing as a warrior, I’ve yet to try it since the patch but I’m hearing mixed opinions about us getting Buffed or Nerfed.
Which leads me to ask the question, what is everyone’s thoughts are about how they feel about warriors at this moment in time, lets keep this to a non venting opinion (if possible) and focus more on the ups and downs of how warriors stand now.
Thank you for any input!
I’m sure this has been suggested before, and mind my lack of investigation in the matter. I lack the patience to do so.
But in guild wars 1, there was the design in place that when you entered a PvP zone, your abilities would change to balance it out.
Here is an example for those who have not seen it before.
Say caltrops, an assassin ability would do 200+ damage to those who walk on them and cripple them for 10 seconds. (PVE)
Now you just entered the mists/pvp area, they now do 50+ damage, and 4 seconds of cripple (PvP)
Mind you the margin for this is completely fictional, but you see the point in taking an ability that would have normally been extremely outbalanced outside of Pve, and remaking it for PvP purposes.
Again, I’m sure this has been mentioned before, but i see too many people complaining about abilities that overpower other classes, or people in general. But this is just me putting my two cents in the matter.
Thanks for reading.

I realize its quoted from a movie as well, but for a charr it shines so nicely.

Id like for this to be put in game. Not many headpieces fit a necromancer other then the starting ones, and i can’t remember what had happened to it.
+1
When i created my Asuran necromancer i had picked one of the 3 masks that i thought really reflected how i wanted him to look. Sadly that was 80 levels ago and i can’t remember for the life of me what happened to it.
Perhaps if its not too much trouble there could be an option on the storyline tab (My story beginning) you could have an option to retrieve the said soulbound item.
Be it the Guardian shoulders/helmets, the Elementalist head focus, the Necromancer Masks and so on.
Once you’re down as a warrior it’s pretty much GG, you dead unless the target had 1 sec of dellay in downing you, i did some tests, if you’re downed and you’re being channeled on for a finisher, you throw your boot, they have enough time to get back up and finish the channel and kill you 1 second before revenge is up.
I’ve noticed that as well. Or there is the occasional glitch where i get knocked down shortly after hitting 2 (Being Hundred Blades with greatsword) Ends up putting my hammer ability on CD without actually using it.
Anet stated already that this one-time event won’t have anything to do with achievements.
That’s good to know.
While i see why they would schedule an event on a Sunday afternoon, being the most practical for majority of the player base, i sadly have to work all day and will miss the event.
Though I’m confused as to why you would make this a “One time event”, Anet. Whereas in Guild Wars you had rec-curing events every other hour or so to make it fair for those who could not attend it at the given time.
This also concerns the achievements / items that will possibly be missed due to the fact its a one time thing. Lets face it, it will aggravate many a players (Including myself) who are a bit of achievement hunter fanatics that will have to wait a whole year to have a chance at this event again. And that’s IF they can make the scheduled time again.
You’ve done good to me, as well as the huge fan-base of Guild Wars 2 thus far. And for all that i thank you Anet. But please, do not make this a one time event.
Thank you.
Just playing the game (no dungeons and no boring grind of anything) I’ll take about half a year to 3/4 of a year to get ONE full set of T3 cultural armour.
So? What’s wrong with it taking half a year to buy? You afraid GW2 servers will be shut down by then?
You don’t seem to be getting the point of this topic. I sincerely hope you put a stop to the smart talk and actually contribute something.
Just don’t look at the stats.[/quote]
Didn’t read the whole post, did you?
nope – armor for looks is subjective and any gold price placed on it is subject per user
there cant very well be millions of prices for everyone…
so everyone makes their own choice as to if they wish to go after the armor or not based on their own visual tastes…
as for the gold price in place, again, what’s the hurry?
are you afraid the servers will shut down before you can buy it?
You are still failing to see the point I’m making with the original post, and your constant use of it is getting really stale.
By no means am i in any rush to get the armor, hence my saying i am really only getting this for the appearance. If they were to do as someone had stated earlier and make it so it has no stats, but more of a skin that would make more sense, and i wouldn’t have much of a reason to make my statement in the first place.
But considering the fact that it has stats, is scaling from the Tier 1-3 armors, the fluctuation in price is just ridiculous.
Alright, I’m a master of all weapons. I can handle a greatsword, sword and shields are not a problem. Heck if things get hairy i can use a rifle and a bow.
So why is it the most i can do when I’m knocked down fighting teeth and bone is.
1. Throw a rock.
2. Throw a hammer.
and my favorite 3. Get so angry you get back up for about 10 seconds to continue the fight before dying of a horrible heart attack.
Granted number 3 is the only actual unique ability we have when were fighting for our lives, its also one of our greatest weaknesses. I realize that most classes have the same issues as we do (For all i know). But when you compare it to other classes, its like childs play.
Don’t even get me started on pvp either, the hammer is nice to irritate the person trying to finish you off, but is no means any strong point of us on our last breath.
I’m sure there have been other posts about this, either out of sheer disappointment over our lack of power while knocked down. Or pure shame that the best we can do is throw the infinite amount of rocks at our feet (Body if you will, we ARE knocked down after all).
I won’t ask for some uniquely awesome ability that one shots mobs, or gives us a direct edge above any of the other classes, but please don’t make me face palm myself when I’m downed and the best thing i can do is throw a rock. Unless that rock contains a bomb, id be pretty happy with that.
Crica, are you comparing the price difference of the other armors in the game to the ratio of gold?
Some of the karma armor vendors i can easily get BETTER armor within a few days of events than i ever will in say a solid month of farming gold.
For end game armor yes, it’s suppose to be pricy. I realize its not going to up and dissapear on me someday. But my point is why make the armor so expensive, if the stats of the armor isn’t going to be as much as it costs?
Falling damage is fine, even if you die from it, it costs nothing for repairs. If you make the mistake of falling down, death seems like the fair option.
Plus it defeats the jumping puzzles. Why am i going to be afraid of falling if i have nothing to worry about other than starting over?
There also should be a non lootable currency for idols from dungeons (IE. Citadel of flame) Anything to free up some more inventory and bank space.
Seems way too overpriced, i mean lets face it. The armor i have now surpasses the tier 3 culture armor and i got it for significantly less than what its costing now. The skin of the armor is the only reason i even want to get it in the first place (Lets face it, it’s the only heavy armor that actually looks good on a charr warrior apart from Citadel of Flame.)
Needless to say I’m not saying that it should be a gold a piece. Heck even cutting the price in half would be acceptable in my book. But over 100g for armor that isn’t even the best in the game seems redundant.
Though thoughts and opinions about why it costs so much would be appreciated.
