But yeah the random zerging from everyone is just bewildering. I imagine if we all numbered up (minus the sporadic WSR pve’rs) at the same time this would be a stonking matchup!

T7 won’t be doable for WSR
I’d imagine the t8 lineup is going to be quite settled as we are, possibly with Arborstone being thrown into the mix.

We lost a large group of wvw players to tier5/6 prior to the close of free server movement. Difficult rebuilding after that, but we have a couple of effective and active guilds that keep the train on the tracks
Tier 8 was a baptism of fire again once we got back, we had to learn to be twice as effective in defence and attack due to our numbers. In EB there were more than enough RoS on to defend against our tower attacks
They just didn’t put the right siege down to defend the stuff
I had completely lost this thread, I hadn’t been on much for the past few days. Nice to see us topping the charts in tier8 ;o with a healthy margin. I spent the evening on my lvl14 elementalist, providing medicare to the team.
We had a little jolly into RoS borders yesterday to downgrade some of the bricks and mortar, followed that up with some border defence after we inadvertently flipped BT/RoS position relative to each other
Then went bonkers in EB turning it a deep shade of red
Fun evening, need to farm our commanders more catapults and rams though now :/ They could always use golems, but where’s the fun in that
We got the RoS bots in WSR Quaggans last night too, its a big kittenty bot circle jerk!
Despite the report function getting some serious clobber though, nothing seems to be happening o.O
I’ve left whole games for this kind of kitten before, I won’t hesitate to leave GW2 aswell unless its sorted

I was meant to be providing the exit strategy in BT border, buttttt neither null field, feedback, or decoy really helped everyone survive XD I did see the wipes coming a mile off though

‘Humiliation’ pink were the TEO team colours last night by the way
Yeah we were lolling in EBG + WSR border at the start of the evening, but since BT was hammering hard at SM north gate, our poke at Ogre was a bit pointless, so we decided to have a guild alt fest in BT border and pulled everyone online to join in
When we got there, we didn’t realise it was swamped with RoF and a decent group of BT defending, so thought we’d go with the flow and have some laughs playing in different roles
The number of times we got trapped between both BT and RoF groups, or stuck between the two RoF groups was hilarious
Eventually it was decided we sucked hard on alts so set off for part two of the nights lolling and headed to RoF border for pink marathons, team ICON tactic training, and a steady walk up the map to see who would come join us
Anya, that fight was epic
We saw the group going in and decided to use the lord buff to our advantage, I think I pretty much stayed alive the whole time at the back of the camp periodically popping out to drown you all in confusion, killing one or two then going defensive
The rest kept running back from spawn to keep it contested between deaths haha
After the long slow walk, we went home to put the serious hats back on and recap our border (SKWAS NEED EXP).

Wish you’d ran into the second part too haha 20 people dressed all in pink slow walking through RoF borders to ASSAULT THE GARRISON with a few completely bemused pugs seeing a brand new commander telling everyone to “HURRY UP GUYS!” as we got into a giant flying V formation.
Our guild leader scrabbled together another 100g to buy a commander tag for his lvl 30 warr. I had to do the mesmer job, BADLY haha “Can I have veil down Cloa?”… Ummmmm wait eummm kitten, we’re all dead! GUYS I put a portal down, stack the other side of the bridge… “OK we’re stacked portal now”. Sorry guys, its on CD now
I don’t think I’ve heard more raucous laughter in a voice communication than last night
When we arrived at garrison 20mins after setting off for it, put down two rams, and walked away from the pugs saying “BRB need to get supps GUSY!”. The gate was down by the time we got halfway to the camp, and it was 80% repaired by the time we arrived back with supplies to do a slow walk up the ramp into the canons (which obliterated us cos we couldn’t retreat away fast enough) hahahha.
Essentially we had a troll evening with naff all seriousness and judging by the 15 or so points WSR was ticking over because of it, I think it says a lot :// We needed a bit of light hearted entertainment after boring constant defending though
You don’t tank points that hard in a bracket for no reason. I have fond memories of RoS from the early days of GW2 when we were grouped up with them and shiverpeaks.
I’m sure they’ll be stronger than both Blacktide and ourselves, and indeed if they’ve had a few weeks of descending they’ll have a few more PvE players come back to WvW on a tier drop, and the sing when they’re winning crowd always return
The numbers of WSRs active WvWrs shouldn’t change much with RoS coming into t8, we’re on bare bones already in this tier. The dragonslayers got bored of hammering t9, but got bored of t8s competition so went back to beating up scripted events designed to be beaten en masse.
Farm craft CoF1 fractals run a guild donation scheme… Buy that tag
Failing that, lead your guild ikittenerg on voice comms, have yourself marked by your groups using ctrl+T, and randoms will follow your ball of players to shiny things anyway.
Generally the zerg follows the one who gets them plenty of exp/karma, unless they are a truly inspiring leader who clearly knows their mustard
Really quiet night on WSR last night
I even got to spend most of the evening on my lolalts and crafting (by crafting I mean throwing my vast fortune accrued killing RoF players into the mystic toilet).
Had some good fights with a BT guild we hadn’t seen before (SHN or something like that)
more mesmers than you can shake a stick at, and awesome portalbombing. Took some stern helmsmanship from De heer Skwas to stop us surrendering badges like a loot pinata
But we got them a few times when the team did what he said.
WSR always did have a way of ruffling RoF’s feathers, and I didn’t insist TEO were the best, or didn’t have failures, you just assumed we were, so thanks for the great praise of our little outfit guys, it makes us proud. We know we’re well beaten in second place in the matchup, so don’t worry too much
We need to start recruiting though. The RoF matchup for next week is looking like a long hard match. Surmia is obviously bagging their match this week because they don’t like “being picked on”.
No doubt t7 will stretch your resources defensively more than tier8 ever will
Just have to really engage the PvE population and be more controlled. Surmia have tanked for a few weeks now, so you’ve got every chance of cementing a position in tier7 with enough work
but seeing guys coming on here saying they got 1000+ kills and how easy it all was bragging about imaginary huge amounts of loot you got
The actual figure since we went upto tier8 again for me personally, is 4,200 kills
I had 6000 at the end of our tier 9 stint 10,200 currently. I do WvW quite actively though.
Huge amounts of loot is typically 10 loot bags per zerg if we’re successful in dismantling it. I make around 2.5g a night after repairs, which I plum back into the trade post. As a gold indicator, I have gone from around 10g to 41g since we went upto tier8, and spent around 10g on jewellery crafted in that time too
I also spend 800 badges on 2 invaders weapons, completed my gift of battle at 500 badges, and I am currently making around 100 badges per evening.
I’m not pulling random figures out of thin air for you so I look cool o.O We literally are having a boon period right now
Its quite amusing to see this level of arrogance coming from a tier 8 server, Whiteside. Quite surprised we still have people with a huge god complex coming on here talking about loot bags and acting cool, I was hoping we lost most of them to the higher tiers.
As Fror said, we did a lot of work in tier9 as a guild, and by no means are anywhere near a finished article, we always hold our hands up and accept our mistakes and learn from them mostly… Lots of learning the hard way at times, and we usually have a good laugh about the real bloopers
I was simply sharing with you my quite remarkable gaming experience from the past two weeks
I’ve been literally showered with loot bags, without trying to sound ‘cool’. I’m not sure how cool a bag containing 3mithril ore and 4leather is tbh, but it has been very cool dismantling these far larger groups of players with a relatively small team, with no arrogance intended of course, hard work achieving spectacular results is its own reward
Just because you’re in tier 8 doesn’t mean you have an excuse to play poorly
Oooh I was at Bay on a big fat Norn engie from 6-7 too so I think I missed that action
My guild leader was going through these yesterday too…
A seemingly impossible list to complete. Seems like someone pulled pot luck guesses at a persons lifetime possible achievable output in WvW without putting any time estimation into the figures they pulled… The final tiers almost seem like placeholder numbers for some of them.
Ahh Hills south gate was an experiment with some different tactics

With the safety net of the masses of siege defence we’d setup at Hills we could afford to experiment, make mistakes and overstretch. Yours wasn’t one of the ‘30 man’ groups we particularly laid waste to or that I was referring to, we were just stopping any attempts at hills there, and we had pugs with us too
There were a huge number of large zergs around though yesterday night. We walked through a few groups of BT and a few big RoF groups along the way, and we had a few funny wipes when not paying attention or taking on waaaaay too many
(I blame the suicidal Guardian).

We’ve got a lot of people on WSR with that commanders tag, you just have to goto LA to see them all
there’s no ‘progression’ in WvW (don’t ask me what that tiered ladder of servers is for guys, I think they mean there are less shiny lewts).
Echoing We Be Husslin, ICON are a walking swarm of loot bags. 2.5g an evening, 1000kills a night, 100 badges+. I’m in love with them. WvW has never been this profitable!
We had to give up almost everything yesterday to try defend the border. 2 huge groups of BT on both sides of the map, then a huge group of RoF which didn’t seem to go away, but I never have more fun than when I’m beating up 30 people with a 10man group continually for a whole evening
This one time, we did garrison golem sky diving. Little bit like the Cliff diving enemy lemmings, but with 8 golems and friendlies (no nerfs needed here).
As a mesmer using a focus, I love the Cliff, its properly overpowered and needs an immediate nerf.
I’m playing the Lyssa build as a hybrid dps/heal/support/buff machine in a 10man roam/zerg breaking team.
I didn’t feel my contribution was as great in my group when I was fully support specced, equally I wasn’t as effective in the group as a more offensive spec.
I generally buff prior to pushes, dps hard on the initial push, then revert to buffs/healing/control while we wait for offensive cd’s to come back.
I also have a full dps warr and a Mesmer. While my Mes adds a lot of group utility, and the warrior a lot of dps, the group instantly notices if the guardian isn’t there for both pushes and recharge periods.
Guards are in a great position in wvw imo, plenty of builds and playstyle options for all kinds of jobs

I can hit this from both perspectives. As an Ele I can go fully suicidal, take on way larger numbers fully in the knowledge I can do it without recourse. With a thief with me we can really make a mess without penalty at a tower defence. Rarely need siege to defend.
Its a strong downed state skill no doubt in tower def scenarios, fairly weak but annoying in all others. If they just blocked it from being able to go through doors it would be super kitten like most downed state skills, but imo would be a fair change. Its not right that a class can be immune from risk in a dive situation like the above.
Don’t forget to pick up your lootbags and you’ll never be in a situation where you can’t repair
I’m in some kind of metronomic pick up bags zone now, they drop like confetti at times, and ‘F’ seems to be my most spammed button barring the space bar (jump jump jump jump jump).
Put a cooldown of about an hour on it for everything but your own borders, or remove it altogether, I dunno.
I’m getting bored of not only being outnumbered defending these towers, but having successfully defended with a gate at 40%, to have the same kitten event spawn again immediately after eventually safeguarding the tower, and again right after that!
I won’t even begin to explain the annoyance on the low tiers of having two of these events being triggered simultaneously by both opposition, we simply can’t defend against it
In lower tier this is a bad change. A 10/15 person threshold could have been a better plan.
If I ever have the opportunity to attack a keep again, I might well think its a good idea. But we’re having to put scouts everywhere now. Instead of being actively fighting other players, we’re sacrificing group members to make sure we don’t lose everything to ninja caps, which makes stalemates at towers or losing minor objectives on our own border an inevitability with a lack of numbers.
it would be a lot better if the player numbers were on par.

We need a bit of a number disadvantage to keep it interesting for us. 1.5-1 or 2-1 outnumbered seems fair given the previous weeks experiences. If its 1-1 its too easy in a straight fight!
The scores are definitely skewed, but that’s the nature of wvw. If we hadn’t lost four guilds with around 100 active wvw’rs before the free transfer closing we’d probably be plenty more competitive. Right now RoF need to lose about 2-3 active wvw guilds to come down to us and BT ;> any volunteers? haha
Would it be possible to change the towers/camps/keeps to be upgradeable using Badges aswell as cold hard cash?
Down here in T8, a small handful of guilds have to shoulder the whole burden, not only of their own keep or claim, but whole borders. For the general populis that we try to educate about the importance of upgrades, these places magically upgrade themselves, while our guilds coffers lose around 50g a week.
I’m pretty much overflowing with badges, I never pay for my siege because of puzzles and badges, but I think it would be a welcome addition to be able to use them for upgrading bases in WvW too

Thankfully they change, but as OP says, at most 4/5 of those original day one choices were WvW able. I missed my whole days laurel cos of this. Hoping its easier today :// Maybe its not as bad up the tiers with your better coverage and populations, but down at the bottom, every little helps, and one actually able and skilled person could make or break a group siege or tower defence and I can’t afford to be out in the wider world doing a daily when there’s a fight to be won and my guild needs me active and available
I’m quite happy we’ve built up the buffer on ‘le bleu’ again too. It got down to 4k or so at one point, just hoping we can have a fruitful end to the week and jump Blacktide for 2nd in next weeks matchup. This obsession with SM annoys me so much as red >.<
Our primary aim at Pangloss wasn’t to keep/take the camp as such, it was to replenish supply at Overlook
We were successful, albeit a couple of Dollys got nobbled along the way.
Well yesterday was a bit disjointed. The patch left everyone a little light on numbers, and certainly by the time the second and then third reset took place, it was a skeleton crew online for us. Poor timing on some of the resets too, we had an outer door down on Bay, a reset let us get it to 100% without reply -_- At the same time, siege we placed at Overlook disappeared with the same reset, what Anet gives with one hand it takes with the other >.< Some nice fights in EBG still

I understand your point, however.
I mean, I know its an optional thing to do the dailies, but I was quite happily doing them every single day before this change. I’m one of those people who won’t do dailies unless there’s significant reward (which there is in this case) or significant cash reward (I’m a trade kitten too).The option now for me is ‘lose a keep’ vs ‘do my 1 laurel daily outside wvw’… You won’t see my keep falling so I can get an item one day quicker.
I don’t even question the farm involved in the legendaries. I can work hard and get those without my eyes bleeding. All I’m saying, is the options should be broader each day. There are too few available for someone like me to complete on some days and there will be others in my position (I count quite a few in my guild). I don’t even mind the little bit of pve for the monthly, cos I can fit that in when we have better coverage.
I like the new system, I was quite positive about it before its implementation, I was loving the idea of getting rid of the healing daily, and definitely the aquatic slayer. But replacing them for running one fractal or killing 40 mobs somewhere I never go wasn’t quite what I had in mind
Hi, I enjoy killing people. I’m a pathological psycho in gaming terms.
Right now I have a choice of dailies, which requires me to pve for 2 of my dailies, or I can’t do them o.O Even if I had to kitten about completing 2 things in WvW before this change I’d still be able to complete it without leaving my server worse off for it… Now I’ve got to leave my bases undefended, leave my guild in the middle of sieges/group runs, and stop enjoying the actual game to go complete things that before; I could do without ruining my gaming experience…
Ummm fix please? Why aren’t there more options for the dailies? Is it a bug? Is it just for today? Or are you just wanting me to stop doing dailies full stop (since it won’t force me to go kill 40 npcs anywhere in the world, even if I can one shot them).

Overlook is one of the hardest keeps to take. When it gets in serious difficulty we always have people on call to save it too. In all honesty, the treb attacks are almost always un organised, if they ever broke your wall they’d be at a loss for ways to get to the inside. But as GH before you realised, WSR just don’t stop trebbing >.< It’s unstoppable and I’d rather they put their time and energies into something more productive like towers/camps lol, but I don’t mind it happening since it keeps you honest in EB

We spent the evening tempering the pushes. Both you and Arbors [HEL] guild had a very large group in WSR at the same time. The ten man TEO group just headed to which was most pushed to break the zergs down one at a time
When Arbor pushed to the inner gate at Garr, we wiped their zerg. When RoF pushed Bay, we’d roll over RoF. We weren’t this proficient at zerg breaking, so this week has really consolidated and battle hardened our team, we have no right to be as effective as we are being now.
Holy crap, we have a time slot when we outman RoF 3-1 instead of 1-3 ?? :o we need to get these guys a commander so they don’t facesmash doors for nothing >.<
We do have a diverse server makeup, plenty of people from all round the globe. Very few organised guilds though, and our pugs are quite awful ://
I’ve loved this week, I’ve put on over 500+ kills a night, making 2-3g an evening in loot bags, around 60 badges a night. Zerg smashing is so much fun

I’ve seen plenty of commanders in all roles, but ideally, survivability, mobility, presence would all be most attractive. For me guardian is the best for the role.
I had a similar discussion with my guilds leader/commander (Mesmer), and they were saying its nice to stay at the back on a ranged char and maintain a large field of vision and overview of the skirmishes, but at times it would be nicer to have the zerg follow him directly into the meat grinder
I think at the end of the day its more about the player behind the tag than the class they’ve chosen it on. A bad commander will be bad no matter if they’re bunker specced, light, heavy, or medium armoured or mobile
On WSR we belong in t8/9. We struggle for numbers in t8. Hitting t1 will be a nail in the coffin :/ the commanders met up to try put in place a tempered push this week so we didn’t hit t1, and the problem is, even without active guild participation, we’re still capable of running 400+ in t9

Going tier1 will cause players to abandon WvW, will turn the PvE players we try to engage to participate back into their fractals. It may in worst cases cause more guilds and players to transfer out, which right now would be a death knell for the server. This reset couldn’t have come at a worse time for us.
I think the culling is actually worse now than before o.O
Before obviously stealth culling was difficult to deal with. Now ALL zergs moving to my position have stealth culling, even when they don’t have stealth. You could be 5yds away from 20 people and not know it till 3 people become visible and kill you in a wtf moment. Only 5seconds after you die do you realise it was a ball of 20 people.

Not quite in those words, but being in the position to ping pong between t8 and 9 all the time, we’ve seen the gulfs between the two tiers, and even though WSR can at times dominate the map in t9, it’s at times barely able to defend its borders in t8
FoW has been very accomplished this past week, certainly worked well together in defence of your own borders, and providing some effective poke on WSR’s, but the end of the day even we can’t secure a place in t8, let alone FoW

sometimes its best to hide rather than follow some of them, probably the case on any server

HI, I got lagged out of WvW yesterday while you updated, 1.30am UK time or so.
Couldn’t get back in, constant crashes to the login screen, so logged off, my char (mesmer) was lvl 79 with about 17% to go to 80.
Came back on just now, my char was lvl 79, gained 15% exp overnight leaving me 0/241000 to go to 80. I found an undiscovered viewpoint, dinged… level 79 allover again, 241000 exp to go :s

The thing that happened yesterday was that our PUG zerg was facing a really coordinated and disciplined guild team. [XT] well deserved wiping us few times, but I can see why Ryuherz is a bit sour about it, as we don’t see guilds that can put 30-40 ppl on the battlefield in T8 ([XT] recently transferred from Blacktide to RoS) and don’t have experience fighting them. I know it felt like being hit by a truck, but it only shows us that we need to improve a lot.
You can’t expect to win vs. coordinated ppl sitting on voice comms when half of our people seem to ignore team chat most of the time
With a decent commander, a sprinkling of siege, some effective scouting, and secured supplies, you can do just fine
But having a team of headless chickens never works (from experience).
How is the matchup for RoF this week? Even? Is this just a “we lost a tower to a zerg when we didn’t know how to defend” QQ thread? Or is it like GH was last week?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends how idiotic the team is playing

Anet closed free transfers so this kind of alliance dropping now carries a financial penalty. GH will be out of your matchup soon. There is no pleasure for them. They aren’t pro gamers (mostly awesome super nice gamers though). They will be mostly sorry for how awful this matchup is for you, the idea is to be as dominant as possible to escape the lower tiers if they are dominating.

No point QQing, just go find good fights and hit them in the undefended bases.
