Water Buckets not working (Revisited/updated!)

Another brief update, I tried -repair as I said earlier and had no results. Just last night I did a full re-install of the game and it still isn’t working for me. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I don’t understand why it always works for my friend and not for me, since we use the same OS, same game files, same everything as far as I can tell. Only difference is she is in Belgium while I’m in the U.S. But I think lots of other americans are NOT having the same issues as I am, so I’m sortof at a loss as to what’s wrong with my game.

Hi, I posted my problem regarding this issue before and didn’t really get a resolution to my problem yet, so I wanted to revisit and update what I’ve done since then. Original post here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Water-Buckets-Never-Rarely-work

As was suggested in the previous thread, I did a -repair on my game client and it has had no effect whatsoever. So just to help illustrate what my problem is, I recorded two videos, one showing me trying to water crops and one showing me trying to extinguish fires. I want to emphasize, I have zero problems with lag. I know for certain it is not a lag issue or a bandwidth issue. I can guarantee this.

Watering Crops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT7OuZdEkNA
Extinguishing Fires: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrpXRcvGVy8

You can see that after spamming the buckets enough, it sometimes does (rarely) work, but why does it take so many attempts? My friend does it once and it works instantly for her. For me it does this, which only works after spamming for a long time, and sometimes it doesn’t work at all.

I’d like to know what I should do, since -repair didn’t do anything. Do I need to do a full reinstall? Or is something else wrong with my game or client? Please help if it’s at all possible.

Thanks.

Water Buckets - Never / Rarely work

When the water bucket is poured on a location, it sends a short-range “signal” to indicate that it’s been used. Have you tried adjusting your character’s position to see if you’re dumping the water in a different spot than the game is looking for? (For example, standing ON the drunk and dumping the water near him won’t work.)

Unlike most of these users, I often DON’T have problems waking drunks. My problem is with extinguishing fires and watering crops most often. And as I said, when my friend plays with me, doing the exact same task at the exact same time, she has ZERO problems with getting it to work. She has shown me exactly where she stands, I duplicate it, and it never works for me while always working for her.

I’ve stood next to the fires, in the fires, five paces away from the fires, and from all different sides of the fires and it just never registers as functioning. It sounds like from other posts here that it’s a positioning issue, that my client is showing me as not being quite in the same spot as the server sees me as being in, perhaps that’s it but I don’t know how to fix that if I can at all (help?).

When I try to water crops in Queensdale, I notice a random selection of them grow and others remain withered. So that seems to put the positioning possibility into question, but I won’t discount it. I also just wonder, though, if there is this server/client inaccuracy, wouldn’t I notice it constantly when trying to do jumping puzzles and target monsters/players? Which I don’t seem to have any problems doing.

I’ll start this by saying I know not everyone has this bug. My friends, in fact, don’t experience this at all. Water buckets for them work 100% of the time. But for me, they do not.

There are various tasks that require the use of water buckets to extinguish fires, water crops, wake drunks, etc. And for me, they’re buggy as hell. They always have been, which is MASSIVELY frustrating for me, especially because no one else I’ve talked to has this problem. No one! My friend literally has zero issues using buckets at all, it works for her 100% of the time, every time no matter where she stands near the crops/fires/etc. And we’re doing the exact same tasks. It works for her, not for me. I’ve tried this SO many times, moving around, pouring buckets upon buckets of water in different positions, swapping to fresh buckets, standing close, standing far away… it seems like random luck when it works, IF it works.

If we can get this bug addressed, please, that would be massively appreciated. I understand not everyone has it, but it’s so infuriating and frustrating when I play with my friend who just tips a bucket over a few times and she’s done with the task and for no good reason at all it never works for me so I have to grind on monsters or whatever else.

Again, I understand it’s not a huge issue, but to me it’s maddening!!

Tasks I know of that have this issue are helping farmer Diah in Queensdale, using water buckets on the corn crops, and also extinguishing fires at Fort Salma (I think) in Kessex Hills. I know there are others that have this problem, but frankly I assume the problem is with me and not the tasks since other players don’t have problems with them.

It occurs on all of my characters regardless of profession. I play on Anvil Rock, and I don’t know what other specs would be helpful to know about my game setup. As I said, I assume the problem is on my end, but I have no idea what it could be! Can anyone please help me figure out why this random thing simply refuses to function properly for me?

Necromancer - Spectral Wall, says 10%, actually gives 3%

The necromancer spell, “Spectral Wall” is described as providing 10 stacks of Vulnerability (10% increased incoming damage) to enemies that pass through it, but upon testing on multiple enemy types multiple times, it only shows as applying 3 stacks (3%) of the vulnerability condition.

The secondary effect of applying the Protection boon to allies works just fine, durations seem fine, just the intensity of the vulnerability seems to be broken.

I play human necromancer on Anvil Rock, was testing this in Kessex Hills on drakes, basilisks, bandits, moas, skales, and other things.
