Game Crash upon pressing play.

Has anyone found a solution to getting past this error? I have updated my drivers (1060GTX). Motherboard drivers are fine and my memory passes memtest. I’ve never had an issue like this. I can play everything else on max settings without issue. I feel it has something to do with the 64 client. How can I exclusively use the 32 bit client? I tried installing it but it defaults to the 64 client.

Really confused. I dont have any adware programs..I disabled my antivirus…nothing works.

Also want to add my wife plays a druid sometimes and a support based Ele. So if there is some perk that a range class would have teaming with these that others dont would be a bonus.

Is there a way to test out the Path of Fire elite specs? I’m wanting to test out Deadeye and the Renegade (range skills).

Second question. I know my play style and what I enjoy. No matter if it’s best or not I only want to play a ranged character. I’ll switch to melee for buffs or something but I am not wanting to be a dps as melee. I don’t mine tanking sometimes so ranged classes that can tank sometimes is ok but please help me pick a ranged spec/class that is at least average.

I have a 80 warrior and just not a fan of the speed/style of their bow/rifle. If its changed somehow I’d be interested but it seems everyone says use it for debuffs and then do melee.

Ranger was amazing at the start of the game and I loved it but have become less of a fan. With pets and stuff…just to much going on.

Thief looks interesting with the new rifle but not sure how it performs, can’t test. (performs in fun to play and feel).

Mechanic would seem like a great fit but man just to many buttons for me. I play using my MMO mouse and even it doesnt have enough buttons. But maybe thats changed.

Reverent short bow looks amazing but read it’s weak. I’m ok with that if its a decent tank sometimes also..but once again I can’t test (that I know of).

Necro I am very unfamiliar with.

Elemental just not my style of play but unsure whats changed. I have only played the core game but will be buying both expansions and dont want to waste my level to 80’s.

Any advice would be great. But I stress again…I just want to do range, but would like a chance to get dungeons/raid spots in the future if I choose that route.

Thanks.

Well thats good to know that Bows are useful in PVP. In PVE now are warriors not expected to be tankish. It’s what was kinda expected when I orginally played. If I walked into a dungeon with a bow people were freaked out.

Any of the new elite skills for other classes lower the amount of weapon swapping needed? I liked ranger but there is so much weapon swapping to increase dps speeed ect. Looking for something that stays with the same weapon alot.

So I haven’t played the expansion and debating on coming back and giving it a go. With that said I am clueless on the class changes that came out with the expansion. I believe they all got new elite skills? In the shape of a new weapon? The only one I read about is the druid. My wife is looking to play one and I was wondering what would be a good class to mix with it.

I sadly have a picky play style. I am more of a fan of passives then constant button mashing and I prefer ranged. I also like to be pretty decent at self healing. Normally these are the easier characters to play but I just enjoy looking at the action around me then having to time every ability perfectly. I have a 80 warrior and like it but would prefer to play something that is more ranged focused and actually good at it. Warrior rifle/bow wasn’t very pvp/wvw doable back when I played, it was a greatsword fest.

Anyhow let me know if you have any questions but I hoping that some of the new epic abilities might have morphed a class into something more user friendly for me.

Thanks

Unless something changes drastically in HoT my thoughts are that you need to reassess how you want to approach GW2, and read up on GW2 combat (as compared to other MMOs).

(precursor…not upset but I think I am not being clear with what I am seeking so want to clear it up…hopefully) I understand the way the combat works. There is no trinity, I understand that but there is support. The group tactics are to self heal, provide buffs, and dps. This are all accomplished different ways from each class but what really happens is the content is not very hard and everyone just DPS races to the end while doing a few things to mitigate stronger attacks. Certain class are just OP on the PVE side of things and sadly these classes are NOT fun to me because they require you to be close to the mobs to push the max dps.

But your advise is correct which is the reason I posted in the first place. I reassessed how I wanted to play GW2. Playing a melee close ranged character was not enjoyable to me. I want to play a ranged class that is useful to the group (via supprt and some dps) because going pure dps as a ranged is not possible currently with the majority of builds. So I am asking for advise for how I want to enjoy the game, not how everyone thinks I should play because its just what everyone does. With the addition of raids in HOT and the fact they want to get rid of berksering all the targets, I do believe that HOT will change somethings (hopeful) but I was unable to play any beta events so looking for advise for those who did get in on some of the action. Are any of the new epic elite classes (specs) a good fit for me? Are the new raids more dynamic that require a lot more teamwork then just push max dps and that would make a more support role class important?

Hopefully that clears up what I have been looking for? The majority of the post have been helpful but they have mainly been focused on whats currently in the game and not what was played in the last several beta events. Was also looking for more info on the reverant class because I know it’s two handed weapon is mostly ranged.

So if anyone has any experience with this it would be very helpful. If there is a class that fits perfect for me that I can get started on leveling now instead of when the expansion launches I will get started.

Thanks for all the help so far. So if I want to stick to a more dps roll with support it seems mechanic is the option but just turned off by the amount of weapon swaping and keys that is required to use to be played well.

What is everyone’s thought on my druid option? I am thinking from the videos i’ve seen that it does dps from a long range but also heals people on nearly every attack (melee surrounding the mobs and players in between). I am thinking this could be a good option. DPS isn’t a factor if I am useful..if everyone else can focus on dps because I am healing them?

Thoughts?

I love the world of GW2. The exploration of it, the quest system (just walk up and fight), and honestly the community seems pretty live and active. But I have a very hard time trying to enjoy my class. So far I have played a warrior, ranger, and engineer but have not been able to find one that I can stick too. I am a simple person and do not like all the flexibility of all these classes.

What I am looking for is a class that succeeds in ranged combat but that is not so complicated that I am switching weapons every 5 seconds. I thought ranger would be the class for me but it seems that melee ranger is way more dps and more practical (compared to when the game launched bows felt useful and a lot of fun). Warriors were the same with me. Pretty simple to play but ranged weapons seem inferior to melee weapons. Elementalist just seems very complicated heaving to switch to 4 tabs of powers all the time.

With the new expansion, I was unable to do any beta testing due to my job and missing the weekends. I have never liked dungeons in GW2 (only played a few but wasnt happy while I was inside) but I am really looking forward to the raids. I would like to find a class that will be majority range and not be so complicated with keybinds that if feels like a chore to play. From the research that I have done, the only class that seems like it just from the description will be the druid. I don’t mind at all not doing a lot of dps if I am healing everyone and being useful but what I want to be is RANGED and useful via dps/lots of support/ or healing. I did see also that the reverent also has two weapons and one of them is all ranged (the two hander). Is this weapon onpar with the class melee or is it underpowered?

Please any guidance you have would be very helpful. I do like and WANT to get involved in the game but so far I am having a hard time loving a class that enables me to want to play often.

My second question was what is the difference between a fractal and a dungeon? Never experienced a fractal.

Must haves on the GW2 store?

I didn’t see a section in the forums for the store so hope its ok to post here. I am returning to the game with my wife because of the upcoming expansion (and raids). We are buying the 99$ version of HoT for the 4k gems discount. What is the best option to use those gems on the store? I am assuming inventory space is huge but anything that I should know that maybe I wouldnt because havent played in awhile. We don’t pvp much and mostly PVE.

Thanks

Returning, Season 2 question

I am returning trying to get setup for HoT and I missed the season 2 for free offer. My character is level 80 and Season 2 is on sale. But when I highlight it, it shows the first two chapters and last chapter isnt apart of the sale because of limitations. What does that mean? Am I going to miss the opening and ending of Season 2?

I wish to purchase the whole season..is this possible?

Also, is there anything in the store that is a “must buy” that I should grab before HoT?

Thanks
