But yes, COMPLETELY agree with OP. It is beyond frustrating to have your Commander unable to command. I think it’s eminently reasonable to disable chat suppression only for:

1) Someone wearing a Commander icon
2) in a WvWvW zone

I don’t know why they allow siege in the jumping puzzles, the baddies just use it to camp places. If you want to camp like a real man don’t use siege use your skills

I dunno, there’s something hilarious about the overkill of building a wall of Death Machines just to cut down some happy-go-lucky jumpers.

Just 2 cents from nobody… I don’t blame TC for winning via zerg (it is what it is and until Anet does something about the free transfer fiasco, not much can be done about it), however the spawn camping is pretty pathetic. Setting up 5+ siege weapons at a spawn point is silly and in my humble opinion shows a complete lack of skill and class. I am admittedly disappointed to see TC employ such weak methods, especially considering the impression I got from last week’s forum posts from TC folks that TC was a better lot than that. Been gaming/pvp’n since DAoC days, and I have always had a great deal of disdain for that style of play. Good luck to y’all next week.

The majority of us ARE better than that. Every server has its trolls and jackwagons, and while we wish it were so TC is not excluded from that list.

That’s awesome that FA and DB pulled it together. BGV’s strike force had an awesome time last night in FA BL trying some new tactics and we look forward to utilizing them further now that there’s actual conquest to be had!

My origin story is a lot less entertaining than Mish’s, but here it goes.

I saw a Vanguard recruitment post on the Emerald Dream board of the WoW forums. Everything about it spoke to me: the camaraderie, the maturity, the ZEST FOR SLAUGHTER. Here, I thought, are a bunch of folks who know how to have fun. AND I WAS RIGHT. Moments later my Warrior was transferred from my dead PvE server and thus began the most exciting time I have ever had in WoW. Period. We assaulted townships, we held inns against throngs of enemies, we drank their ale while they stewed in fury, and we were awesome at it. But we always, ALWAYS fought fair. I remember several nights that most of us sat on the sidelines if there was a smaller response than anticipated to our shenanigans, and once word spread of our code of honor our enemies started treating us in kind.

It’s a great feeling to smash your enemies in battle, but it’s an even better feeling to end a night of conquest with mutual respect and a /salute to the other team. That’s what the Vanguard is all about.

Fast forward to today and most of us are considerably less Orcish, but the core values we represent are as strong as ever. If you’re looking for a mature, drama-free place to hang out with a bunch of murder-happy pirate hooligans then we’d be honored to have you.

Why would a Commander have to be level 80? They’re there for their skill in leading people, not 1 on 1 fighting.

Seriously. Commander Fel has been leading combat since at least Star Wars Galaxies and everyone who’s ever been in a GW2 BL with Bloodgale Vanguard can vouch for his tactical prowess.

He just hit 80 this week.

@Viktorgraves You sound intriguing, I love WvW and it’d be awesome to run with an organized guild. I’ll have to run it by my spouse, as I’m not sure how sold he is on consistent WvW play.

That’s fine. Our weekly schedule is packed but it’s not all WvW. We’ve got RP night, SPvP night, PvE night, etc. There’s always something fun scheduled but nothing is mandatory. Except being awesome.

Any servers seeing queues at all? I’ve been popping around between zones in prime time (U.S. Eastern) and have never had to wait in a queue as a Dragonbrand player.

TC has had at least a ten minute queue every night I try to get in, often longer. But, as this thread has hopefully illustrated, we don’t give up when we’re behind. This is a week long battle and we’re in it for the whole week.

It may shock and surprise you to learn that Commander Fel is not only a brilliant tactician but also devastatingly handsome. Truly a wonder to behold on the battlefield and off.

And I guess these other guys are alright too.

What? The maps aren’t boring, they’re gorgeous. I was standing at, uh… whatever the eastern keep is, on the battlements looking down for invaders and a hard gust of wind blew, sending snow flurries zigzagging around and all the trees moved in unison. It was awesome, really immersive.

This match-up seems fairly good overall. In the times that I’ve been in WvW the fighting has been intense.

Absolutely. Our opponents this matchup are relentless and it’s made me more excited to queue up for WvW than any previous week. Every night it’s a serious battle for territory that you then have to hold tooth and nail to even last long enough for an upgrade. Fun, fun times.

That’s not how it works on Tarnished Coast.

We’ve been in 3rd place since early Saturday morning and all it’s done is made us resolve to fight harder. We pushed hard all weekend and Monday morning we broke through to 2nd place. Last night we rallied on Crystal Desert’s Borderland and took out a garrison and snagged an Orb.

The kind of people that give up when they’re behind aren’t the kind of people you want guarding your back anyway. Frees up the queue for people that play to win.
