Well, the trinkets from rubies are basically legendaries with pink text instead of purple, is probably why they’re a little more time consuming. You can get lots of rubies from PvP reward track.
I worked very hard on my rock-hard 6 pack abs. It upsets me when people want me to put on my shirt just because I’m eating in their restaurant, or I’m at their grandmother’s funeral. I mean, I should be able to display my glorious abdominals for all the world to revel in. Whether someone consents to viewing them or not is of no concern to me.

Flying mounts will make gliding obsolete. I doubt they will ever appear.
Cars made horse drawn buggies obsolete, but progress always finds a way.
Fingers crossed for flying mounts. Arguments like “they make the world feel smaller” or “they invalidate open world traveling” are moot in GW2 since waypoints already exist and already do these things.
Not completely accurate though.
Lots of contested waypoints that would be simply negated by flying mounts. Entire mapdesigns would become tivial.
Maps designed for gliding have systems in them to steer use of gliding. You have to master it in more than one way. Adding flying to those maps would render them mere loot piƱata’s stripped of their gaming value.
The design of this game might just allow for ground mounts but certainly not flying mounts.
It would be like adding a massive cheatcode. Way to sink your own game as a developer. The Blizzard Krew learned this lesson the hard way.
So, Fingers crossed for NO flying mounts EVER.
I disagree entirely. It’s a popular trope that flying led to the downfall of WoW, however if you look at the facts and the numbers (when Blizzard released them), it’s quite the opposite. WoW was booming when flight was part of the game. Only recently, when flight is disabled for a long time at the start of the xpac, only to be introduced via massive amounts of tedious effort, subs have plummeted. I believe it to be true that the vast majority of people wish to battle enemies more than terrain, and sub numbers show that, if not the sole reason for the decline, that at least there’s some correlation.
Fingers crossed for flying mounts. Arguments like “they make the world feel smaller” or “they invalidate open world traveling” are moot in GW2 since waypoints already exist and already do these things.
These skins are amazing, like some of them are legendary quality. I really love them. I selected my 2, GS and Sword and was sad to find out I couldn’t get any more of them. I really want like half a dozen more, or better yet, all of them. Please add a way for people who have completed the 5th year achievement to obtain more of the skins!
I must have missed the change that made scepter “weak”. It’s boring, mainly because the autoattack is so…vanilla…and is the same animation repeatedly, but it’s certainly not weak.
Stay full zerker and just get better at staying alive. You’ll need the practice for higher fractals and raids if you plan to do those. I’m full glass cannon and only get downed a couple times in a long play session, usually when trying to train through a bunch of crap that chain CCs me.
Already has bards. It’s revenant in glint stance with auras turned on. Even plays little musical notes.
Ugh condi this condi that. Sick of having to be condi on every kitten class almost. The only ascended set I have is heavy power and it’s useless on warrior and rev, 2/3 of the classes that can wear it. I can’t afford to craft another set or convert sets all the time. Even if I could, I don’t want to. I’m a warrior, I want to swing my greatsword and do respectable damage, instead I have to apply DoTs like every other freaking class. So frustrating.
We play mmos to be immersed in a rich alternative world experience. For things like PvP and competitive play, the reality is that there are way way way better things to play that are designed with competition from ground up (like Overwatch, Paragons, Paladins, CS:GO, PUBG, Smite, LoL, DOTA, or even B&S -which despite being an MMO has successful tournaments overseas running for it).
YOU play MMOs for that. Don’t presume to speak for me, thank you. I play to collect loot.
It’s a non-issue, because the mounts feel great, imo. Oddly enough, they’d be a lot more generic if they controlled 1:1 like characters do on foot.
The thread is there to post your first impressions and not about to argue about.
I ordered the deluxe edition Im kittening kittened off about what Im about to get here. And I dont give a kitten if you dont like it or not because its my money that I want to have back and not yours. Get it.
I hope they give you your money back, because you’re precisely the kind of player this game or any game can do without.
A minor annoyance – the wind blows the sand one way, but the flags wave another and smoke on campfires a third.
How can the wind be real if our eyes aren’t even real?
It’s all garbage loot. There are no rares and exotics, that’s the point. You don’t have to identify them unless you really want to, for some reason. It’s just garbage. Salvage them and sell the mats, or just sell them outright for the people who want them, for whatever reason.
Stop spreading misinformation. Rares and exotics are gated behind the unid boxes. This has been confirmed numerous times.
spooky……………….
Uh…I cant tell if you are serious or that dull…the point of the identification system is to reduce clutter dramatically. instead of running around with 900 greens and blues that require 4 stacks of 250 salvage tools, you can now run around with stacks of 250 of that useless gear in one slot and salvage it without receiving the useless sigils anymore. I don’t see the problem here…this is a huge step forward.
If that was the point, then identifying the unidentified items would cost 0 copper so there would be no change from what it costs today. Obviously you are omitting the huge and glaring change that a piece of gear that drops for you today and is pure profit in vendor coin or crafting mats now costs you 1s68c per item, which is typically higher than the value of the item.
1s68c to identify is HILARIOUS. This change completely destroys this xpac already as I’ll never see another item above green drop again because I won’t pay 2s to get an item worth 80c and gamble to get items of higher quality than masterwork. Expac dead before it even launches with this failed system.
Greed and asininity of the highest order. I’ll never get another actual item drop again because I won’t pay coin to identify items that I currently can get already identified for free. I fully expect infinite ID kits from black lion trader for 5k gems. I’ll save myself the hassle and uninstall if so.
Nip this in the bud anet, and have 3 classes of unidentified items, masterwork, rare and exotic. Not all in the same green unid item.
as a frequent gatherer myself, this sounds horrible.
Sadly you’ll need to at least get mastery points from HoT maps. You’ll need up to ley-line gliding (highly recommended, or at min to lean technique) and a few others like bouncy mushrooms. After you force yourself to do something in HoT throws up a little bit then you can start having some fun because the season 3 maps are all pretty fun and awesome except Draconis Mons, steer clear of this HoT map wannabe after you get the story/mastery points from it.
You can get a full set of ascended trinkets/back of your stat choice in about a week in LS3. You can get a free ascended weapon of your stat choice by finishing HoT story and doing the broken caladbog quest (repeatable on other characters). Then set yourself a goal like 1 piece of ascended armor per week or whatever is reasonable for you to farm the gold/mats and craft. Fully kitted character in a month or so starting from nothing-ish. It’s pretty casual as long as you gear like this and stay away from raids where the elitist “meta” kids hang out. I swear if I hear that kitten word one more time regarding this VIDEO GAME…anyway, I digress. GL.
The richest IRL is the richest in game, since the easiest way to acquire gold is with your credit card.
It’s not really Anet’s fault, unless you want to say their game design is conducive to creating this kind of elitism. It’s the community. This game has a more elitist community than any game I’ve ever played, and I’ve played them all. This fixation on ascendant gear, meta classes and meta builds is at a fever pitch in GW2. Not sure how or why it got that way, but it’s very off-putting for myself and many people I know.
Power rev still 30-40% behind tempest…sooo, what’s the point?
I highly doubt it’s open for discussion at this point regardless how wistful you may be.
As a condi engi main, I am obviously not too happy with these changes. There’s just no reward for playing one of the most difficult classes in the entire game juggling a carpal tunnel inducing rotation once these changes take place.
I really hope there is going to be a substantial nerf to ele as well, otherwise we will see a return of the ye olde “power ele or gtfo” meta. And I really don’t want to return to that meta. I went through all the hassle of getting quip for my engi because i love the class, and I fear that I’ll never get to use it again for my raid premades or any lfgs because all the exp groups are only looking for eles. And as much as I would love to say that is an exaggeration, knowing the exp raiding community, I really can’t.
Lol sad, already pitchfork out for another class because of kitten from a completely unrelated power reduction to yours. The salt intensifies.
So raids will be 16% harder… Ty for killing my motivation. Just made 6th viper set, so that when i do raid I would be fully geared nope.
Also with the addition of power precision ferocity AND condi damage gear, ty for combining that with viper. It’s a kill to my gear, as that Grievers gear (of what the name is) is new meta… Ty Anet.
So in conclusion: 100% condi duration (clearly meant to be achieved by lots of classes) is killed… ty so much anet. And you think power has just as good food? Power has some things that are really strong for it (like decreased stun duration) wich is useless for most condi. This change is just a overreaction to the current raid status. (and making raids actually worse).
Someone lost their OP toy now they’re gonna throw a tantrum :p Grow up, move on, adapt, overcome.
Lost their op toy? If gear itself would get a +5% boost to overcome this no probs. But they didn’t. Power and griever are new meta no matter what cause this change. They have to gives tons of +10/20% condi duration traits to compensate for this (and they wont).
Atm i had a condi thief. Perfectly geared. 30k dps if played to best. Guess what people didn’t even WANT it. So op? c’mon. What makes me angry is i just invested in 6 viper full armor sets. And they are all absolute. Just changing stats with expensive orbs for insignia = 20g per armor set to change. Anet must refund me that. Grinding like hell to have on every profession a viable raid ascneded set, to then have it smashed to pieces by anet. No thanks. Look if at HoT they removed condi duration food (and i expected/hoped it back then! ) ok. I would be 100% ok with it. But they chose to not do so. And balanced the raids (start of HoT) on them. Now it’s over and power is clearly taking over for good. If most condi builds are stranded at 70% condi duration, then they have no place in raids.
And have you noticed how hard a condi engineer is to pull off? With these nerfs, condi engie is out of the meta for 10 years. and power engie? also bad. Thus these changes petrify the raid meta even further. Not a good decision.
Nobody owes you anything, or is going to refund you anything. Balance changes happen in games. Sometimes something you worked towards building gets toned down, deservedly so in this instance. Pick up and carry on because you’re entitled to nothing.
I also need to know if you’ll be able to glide in PoF WITHOUT owning HoT. It’s the deciding factor for someone I know whether or not they’ll return to the game.
But for real I am arachnophobic. I have had a long-standing fear of spiders since I was a child. I will involuntarily freeze in place at the sight of one any larger than a dime. I check my clothes, shoes and bedclothes with a flashlight before I put them on/get into them. Every time.
That said, I have no problem with spiders in games or used as mounts. Bring ’em on
You definetly dont want to visit my garage then. Not to long ago I killed one with a shovel. Purely in self defense of course, it was reaching for a weapon.
I don’t do garages, or basements, or crawl spaces or attics or various other spidery places :p
Also, I salute you for the service you performed with your shovel.
Hey, I’m just glad they held off for 5 years before adding them.
Not that I hate the idea, but I think people need new things added and mounts are just a bonus. The END IS NEAR if they add unique mounts to the BLTC (I mean totally unique, not just offering a skin to make your rabbit pink instead of red.)
Lol if you think they won’t monetize mounts you’re delusional.
While I don’t share the sentiment that adding new maps is a bad thing, I do agree that older content needs to be made soloable. This game can become a nightmare for new and returning players. Especially HoT which is almost entirely group-centric. Once HoT is no longer the newest content it will be almost impossible to do anything in it.

I have raptorphobia, bunnyphobia and mantaphobia could they please reconsider the new mounts?
It’s pretty bad. Looks low quality and dated, like they made it before they made the core game, QC scrapped it, then they brought it back and stuck it in the 2nd xpac. I enjoyed my similar Paragon armor in GW1, but it has no place in 2017. Hopefully they’ll revisit this costume and update it (highly doubt it).
I love the elite specs, but I abhor HoT, so the less HoT there is in PoF the happier I’ll be. Also, mastery points are getting kind of crazy for new/returning players. Would like an alternative way of earning them, perhaps some way of earning items that allow you to add +1 mastery point of your choice from Core/HoT/PoF/future expacs.
STILL bugged.
Thanks all for the responses they were very helpful mostly!
I was reading reviews on metacritic, but they’re from a year ago. Most of the negative reviews cite the complete lack of ability to play solo, requiring “elite skills” or something that are behind a paywall (p2w game now??), and being unable to even progress really unless lots of people are around.
Is this still the case or am I, as a solo player, better off looking elsewhere? I have the base game, but may buy the expansion while it’s half price if it’s playable for me. Thanks for any help.
BTW I don’t intend to partake in PvP/WvW, I’m only interested in the PvE side. Can I play and enjoy the game solo in PvE or is there a bunch of stuff gated behind PvP as well?
