People thinking megaservers were implemented to save money need to take off their tinfoil hats and stop being ridiculous.
Well, if they were implemented to help with lag, as per anet claims, then they achieved exactly opposite results.
Agreed, marked increase in skill lag for me.
More importantly there’s just too many bloody people around now killing and finishing everything, with lots less ‘active’ events hanging around. It also seems that the scaling isn’t working properly making kills far less challenging/fun.
Problem is they accelerating the end times hence reducing overall potential profit
Only makes sense if the juice isn’t worth the squeeze currently and they want to kill it off.
Actually I just think i’ll stop buying gems no use complaining.
…
My love for this game is waning; it’s only saving grace is that ESO is “poo” and buggy.
If you’re going to pay a sub anyway, give Eve a shot perhaps?
Lol, I have had at it in the past, but I find the control disconnect between the player and ship boring. On the subscription based front I’m really wishing for a successor to UO T2A, but I highly doubt anyone will pull one off, but there are a few promising ones in the pipeline that are very sandboxy.
Back to the topic at hand: I really hope AN will be sensible and listen to the complaints about their trait changes, but unless you’re about to release something new that people are going to buy there is simply no need for listening.
Won’t happen in Carebear Wars.
Wow .. first time i read that word since i quitted AION. And i really never want to read that again .. thats why i’m here and not in Gankland or Grieftown.
Lol you should play Eve Online, you’ll love it ;D
Hehe jokes aside, GW2 is as non killer orientated as mmo’s go; only things left for killers are Trade Post PvP.
A opposing faction or race just cannot work with the way things have been designed.
It’s unfortunately too late for doing that in the GW2 world; if the races were split from the beginning with open world pvp it could have worked, but its not possible to have this type of change now; it would require a complete redesign.
Unless of course you just mean brand new race that happens to have a evil bent, but doesn’t attack anyone; in that case I guess that can add a additional race with a additional capital, but yea I don’t really see a reason why they would want to do that either way.
I had really loved this game intensely since coming back in Jan, but the new trait changes really are a slap in the face to the freedom that used to be there; they just added boredom and frustration to the plate of new players.
Way way longer to get trait points to assign, and when you finally get to assign them to unlock your slots you sit with “quests” (honestly 100% completion stuff are achievements and chores), which in turn you are to low level to do – so continue the boring grind some more.
My love for this game is waning; it’s only saving grace is that ESO is “poo” and buggy.
Probably less; I’m a new player having returned in feb since the original release loved the LS stuff; and now the new patch screws over new players, so yea I think i’ll start up this game much less hence forth unless there is some positive changes very soon, like ‘replay any LS content with a flip of a switch’ etc.
The speed of acquiring traits was fine. Having them faster means you have more to experiment with build wise. They have effectively increased the grind in the game.
lol and instead of the 20 boring levels ‘after’ level 30 you now have the 20 borring levels before it.
Gold farming is a gold input into the economy which would cause inflation if left unchecked.
TP Flipping actually drains gold out of the economy due to the 15% payed in listing and transaction fees.
So in the case of Gold farming we are creating currency; in the case of TP flipping we are destroying currency and changing the hands it is in.
Unlike most of the ‘rich’ in this game 10/100 gold is not trivial; hell even paying 3-4 gold is a major deal for a new player.
*Just to clarify these changes affect new players/toons not the established level 80 elite.
TLDR at the bottom.
Being a new player I can say for certain that these changes are bumming me out. I can’t understand why they are pushing back traits. into lvl 30+ and the final tier lvl 80+ unless they only want to award the ‘books’ for content at that level.
Do they perhaps feel that level 11-~45 are to easy and are pushing the traits back? I included the post 30 levels since currently you already have many points in there at that level, you would only start ‘feeling’ a leveling off of content vs nerfed characters at around ~55/60 probably.
So I just got my first character up to level 60 and thought I should experiment a bit to see what I like and what works etc. This goes completely out the window if you are going to have to unlock over a 140 traits. Let me tell you plainly what is going to happen, people are going to go to Google type search for ‘best build’ and that’s what they are going to complete. Which many are already doing without experimenting. It’s going to be even worse for dungeons “oh your the wrong type of build sorry we aren’t looking for your type” ‘poof’ kicked – bearing in mind that this is indeed the current mindset. This is the destiny of it all unless they let you buy it for 5 copper or something; after all new players aren’t loaded… unless they buy tons of gems and convert to gold…
Thinking about this more I can only imagine this is implemented to force more players into PvP where you can still get everything?
TLDR; IMO this will hurt good build diversity, increase the amount of new players with broken builds, and at the same time make getting to level 80 more difficult and worth less – since the final tier’s ‘quests’ would be level 80 content that you only now get to start to complete, lol or buy.
Guys I somehow managed to get my game working, but the solution was really weird:
1) Deleted C:\Users\[your login username]\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
2) The game wanted to updated but it was slow so I VPNed into a private internet access VPN system to get some better performance.
3) Connected to the game while still connected to the VPN (largely a accident don’t know if it ended up being related or not)
4) Logged in with the troubled character first without making any graphics modifications.
5) At this point I logged in successfully, and when I got in the Lions Arch Destruction video immediately started playing, so I don’t know if the video is possibly at fault or not.
Note I had been trying every single day since I added my response above, so I don’t know if this was just a fluke or they did something server side, but I had not yet been notified of anything support might have done.
Exact same issue here, old character trying to log in with inside the crown pavilion.
- did log a ticket this afternoon.
