Puppies and Bunnies are bugged, having to fail 2 events is ….idiotic. Seriously? It’s expensive / time consuming enough, please don’t make it harder / more annoying than it needs to be. Was looking forward to grinding it out this offset buttttt I guess we get to wait until the 1st. Kewl.
For whatever reason Anet hasn’t come up with a way to instantly get back into the same instance you d/c’d from, so ofc everyone who d/c’s gets royally screwed. Blah blah blah everyone and their mom has d/c issues I know. No one is going to look back on this release with fond memories, only irritation and a realization that maybe it’s time to try a new MMO. Rewards have perma sucked since launch. What is the point of “The JOURNEY” if all you end up with is more work and less gold? What le fug.
Content in HoT was great.
Giving us masteries to get back to where we were with our reward system before is pretty stupid, but whatever.
Mouth of Mordremoth is where I get most of my d/c’s. It’s a REALLY cool boss fight, I could REALLY enjoy it….until the 3rd d/c at 5% HP and no rewards at the end. (Not like I’m getting any Crystalline Ore anyways LOL).

Why is Shadow Arts still the only viable way to remove conditions now? If you want to push evasions over stealth for a more mobile playstyle, give it better condition removal or even transferal. And the only reason SA is the best condition removal is because we can sit in stealth and WAIT for them to tick off while we heal with the SA GM trait, not because it removes them super quick. HoT has WAY too many conditions and it’s becoming a problem for the evasion based thief. Try something that is static, a simple 1 condi removal on dodge, regardless if it was a successful evade or not. S/D is currently the only way to condi remove while playing evasion. Sword 2 is fine for 1v1 condition removal, but if I’m going to 1v1 someone, I’m just going to use d/p anyways. S/D is for the group fights, it’s condi removal should reflect that. It would be really something if the dodges gave condition removal IN the GM trait, not the trait tier before it. As in on Bound, successful hit of this skill removing 1-2 conditions on a 5-10s cooldown. Just what I’ve noticed playing DD so far.
I really feel like there are both positive and negative things about this spec. Personally I think the lack of stealth with this spec creates a high(er) skill cap amongst the current thieves and will separate who really knows the class. However I dislike the fact that sword / dagger will be the future meta for DD seeing as Acrobatics took a decent nerf pre Heart of Thorns to pave a clearly visible path for Daredevil. I myself prefer dagger / pistol and short bow. I feel like taking away the stealth aspect of thief somewhat takes away from the initial draw that most people had when making it their main class. The staff skills to me feel like they need tremendous work and more responsive skills.
Also, regardless if it’s a “learn to play” spec in order to be good, I feel like it’s heavily outmatched when it comes to 1v1. I fully understand that it is capable of winning with ease against the average player and simple enough to use in PVE to make a valuable addition in a team. I feel it is outmatched at higher levels of play, namely 1v1, and will remain there. I obviously main thief and would like to see it shine. These new changes are certainly a step in the right direction. However a small suggestion, increase the damage mitigation. I like the direction of applied weakness making an opponent do less damage to you, however I am curious to see if it will be enough to make a difference. Also instead of making the condition removal based on evades, seeing as that requires being attacked and sometimes you just need to breathe from a fight, make them based on the evasions period. A static 1-2 condition removal every evade regardless if it was successful or not. Now I know that the idea is to “reward” evades with an end result, in this case condition removal, however instead of making the reward survivability, introduce utility. It would be nice to see maybe a healing power increase on successful evade or perhaps a super speed buff. Something that doesn’t make your “reward” for timing an evasion correctly simply staying alive longer. This spec revolves around evades and should benefit them in every way possible.
I’ve heard countless talks about simply not using the grand master traits of this spec to give you the edge in Daredevil in order to 1vX properly. I strongly dislike cutting my given abilities in order to make my class a success and would prefer a better solution. Which seems to be the direction you’re going. I know it’s still in beta, however I still show concern for it because I’d like to stay a thief main.
I also understand that nerfs / “balancing” needs to take place within this spec, however I find it hard to fall for when we’ve let several classes be extremely well rounded over the past three years with few “balancing” features. Everyone playing at a higher level of pvp or even pve understands and can easily identify these classes. In closing, I’d rather have thief / Daredevil strong come launch, and take some hits, rather than it starting weak and staying there due to people who don’t understand it constantly berating it into the nerf zone until it’s “fixed”. I like the changes and I hope to see more in the future.
I’ve had the same problem recently. No idea why or what it causing it. I live in Colorado, USA. I’ve got sub 30ms outside of any pvp matches, but the second I join it skyrockets to above 200-300, making it super annoying and frankly…unplayable. I dunno what I could even do to fix it either. I’ve tried all kinds of ping reducers and still the same deal. Even inside WvW I have sub 30ms. So at least I know it is not the player limit.
Is this the matrix?
THE SPOON ISN’T REAL
Folks today is April Fools Day and I know its a time to get silly. But I couldn’t help but feel like ANet took things a step too far today. The grainy filter is fine and the old timey music is actually rather charming. What I am of course referring to is the fact that your character runs around pretending they are an airplane. Now normally this wouldn’t be a big deal but I feel like the statement that ANet is making about airplanes is both insensitive and callous. As you know doubt have guessed, I am talking about the lack of jet planes.
You see, your character runs around with their arms stretched at almost perfect 90 degree angles. However, as I am an aviation expert as well as a game designer (and an astronaut) it seems to me that the are only representing biplanes. Clearly, jet planes are being under represented or, dare I say, discriminated against. As an aviation expert who has helped design all jet planes in the world I feel very offended by this. The characters should put their hands at a slight angle behind their back and make sounds similar to BRRRRROOOOOSH and FWHOOOSH in order to simulate the thrusters of a jet plane.
I sincerely hope that ANet will do the right thing by adding jet planes to the game.

I probably would have never logged into forums except I wanted to find out what was going on and why I couldn’t enjoy the game tonight. Definitely don’t enjoy complaining (I’d rather be playing).

-sigh- The only nature I can agree with is that this may have emotionally impacted grieving families who lost loved ones in the recent disasters.
Was this update offensive? No – what’s offensive is acting offended and being insensitive while waving torches and pitchforks, jumping up and down and yelling ‘airplanes are offensive!’ while families are brutally reminded WHY they are grieving.
Was this short-sighted? Well, maybe. But everyone is guilty of being short-sighted, at one point or another.
Can we please…PLEASE…..move on with a mature attitude?

This was a funny prank! I agree with that. Should it have been imbued permanently in all areas and on all toons? Probably not. I didn’t log on like “I’m hardcore and never smile at anything”, I like to have funsies :P. However I didn’t really…laugh? I mean I guess it was cute for the first five or so minutes. Then I kept looking at my buff bar thinking “Ha…good one! When does this wear off? I’d really like to get back to playing my way”. Then all the 9/11 jokes started coming…and I just wanted to log off. I know an off switch wouldn’t fix what people say, but at least I could just ignore them and move on. Instead I’m forced to think about that day, based off one comment, because I can’t disable it. “It’s 9/11 re-enactment day, we do extra damage to towers in WvW”. I’m so glad people file that under the “I can say whatever I want” category. Either way, I’m mainly on posting because I’d rather share my ideals among like minded players than actually play today. shrug
