Legion of Valorous (LoV)
Fort Aspenwood
Got (part) of the story of what happened. Seems like I missed a lot past night.
As of now only a small handful has transferred to TC.
The story of why people wanted to move is both sad and hilarious.
Apparently people were tired of carrying pugs which is completely understandable. Ask anyone from FA and they’ll tell you. We have some great WvW guilds, but the pubs are completely terrible. Bunch of people who stand around auto attacking gates without siege.
The other day I saw a group of 15 pubs auto attacking the gate to a tower. No siege. I watched to see how long they would go on. After 10 minutes I got bored and threw down a ram. It only got half built, because of 15 people only 2 were carrying supply.
From what I understand, last night we lost a ton of stuff in WvW because we had a huge group fighting the wurm. Which is completely idiotic, and something I would expect from FA pubs. We have good guilds, Pro, ULTD, PTX. But our pubs are complete idiots.
So yea, I don’t blame people for wanting to distance themselves from that.
Personally I won’t be going to TC. From what I understand, it’s the role play server, and that’s not my style.
I used to be this, but I read the chat and have changed my playstyle accordingly. Now I try to always carry supply, build when I have supply, etc.
I admit to still banging on a door or two but what are you gonna do when the group you’re running with is trying to take down a door and you can’t reach the defenders above? It’s bang a door, leave, or stand and be bored. As a hammer guardian at least my chain gives protection and area retaliation if used correctly, on the door that seems to me it might be useful.
Tips and strategies are always welcome, but in FA chat they seem to be rather rare. I have a couple names that people have given me to contact for info/training in game but it seems that you might be better typing a quick hint in chat for those of us not in a WvW guild. Just listening to ingame chat & forum advice has upped my skill tremendously, I now have badges and I’m not just a walking dead man.
I log out on down about 100 times a day. It’s funny from my perspective.
lol, nice. Why should the enemies get badges off me, I applaud this action.
I had no idea how people were doing this and thought they were just teleporting or stealthing away, but I could never find them again. At least I understand the mechanics of what’s happening now.
From now on I’ll just smile as they log out, secure in the knowledge that they were bested a hundred times a day (and know it). . . . loser’s.
This is a post that a member of krew did on our guild website to help others get a basic understanding of seige placement.
Ballista – red.
Catapult – yellow.
Arrow Cart – green.
Trebuchet – blue.
I’ve left out the customary catapult behind every door and most of inner keep defense. It also helps to use common sense. You want to place arrow carts where you can still see them, but they cannot hit you, like on the back edge of a wall. You have to place ballistas where you have line-of-site of your target.
This doesn’t include every piece of siege you should put down, but it shows the more important ones. The exception is the siege placed in the camps. Obviously, only place siege there if you’re planning on defending the camp.
Thanks this will help me tremendously! I’ve lost way to many ballistas & Acarts….not anymore though.
WvW has but one incentive for [ULTD], war. Winning said fights through superior tactics. The server may not be number one, but when we hit the field it’s your keeps or your blood. We’re going to take one of the two, if not both.
Isn’t that why we bought this game?
You were leading me this morning and it was great fun!
I want to put a question out there for all severs, no bias just a questions.
How would you feel if we had this same match up next week?
Personal opinions and server based.
I’d feel great about it. I have fun every single time I log in, regardless of whether we find TC to fight or YB.
It has been fun for me! Except when all but 2 or 3 FA log for the night and then it’s just an exercise in quickly hitting the waypoint after my dirt nap.
On a different note, I wish the experienced WvW’ers in FA would chat a bit more to guide us less hardcore people who aren’t in big guilds. I catch on quick if I have a clue about our strategy. Otherwise I end up just looking for someone who seems to know what they are doing and latching on to them (or joining the zerg).

We wiped our borderlands blue with a 10-15 man crew after TC either got bored or realised how much territory they had sacrificed for our garrison and withdrew the majority of their forces.
Well, as one of the TC players that was there, I can tell you that our determination to take your garrison was partly caused by the FA-whining-post here on the forums and partly by the many complaints in our chat about FA-corpse-dancing.
We knew fully well that taking the garrison while Yak was around would cost us more points that it gained, but several people literally said stuff like ‘better to take stuff from FA and loose to Yak, then let FA keep their stuff’.
That’s what happens when you are rude to others…
The first few times I WvW’ed I let myself get hot under the collar from people corpse dancing over me. Then as I lay with my face to the sun watching hips gyrate over me I saw a sea of heroes come to my rescue. That poor sob had no idea what hit him. I laughed soooo hard it was a wonderful moment. Since then it doesn’t seem to bother me when I get danced over since I know that Karma is sometimes quick.
There are tons of good people on FA who want to have fun. Win if we can, but laugh either way. When I stop having fun is when I move on.
I just want to know how TC dropped a kitty load of players (literally) on my head last night as I was manning a ballista. No warning to me or anybody else in the area, we were epically crushed. It was both rude and awesome at the same time! I guess I still have a lot to learn….
I have to agree as well. My guild Legion of Valorous (LOV) is a very small group of friends that PvE most of the time. I found that I like the WvW and don’t really care about the gear or drops, it’s just gravy to me. But getting trounced by real people who most often make smart moves has really improved my game and is TONS of fun! I don’t know if my guildies will catch the fever or not, but I’m trying to infect them!
