When you attempt to start the Scratch Sentry Defense guild challenge by talking to the guild initiative representative inside the challenge instance, he says, “Mission closed. Please try again later.” Isn’t working on our guild or our friend’s guild.
Correct yes – multiple teams can contribute simultaneously to one mission for PvP – a guild team requires 3 or more players from the team be actively playing to use the team name, and a guild can have multiple teams playing simultaneously.
For WvW multiple groups of players can contribute simultaneously for WvW as well yes – the requirement is three or more players from the guild must be there participating at an event for it to count towards the mission.
Will the missions still accept contributions after the threshold for success has been met? For example, in a Rush, as long as you finish within the 30 minutes, you get commendations, even if the guild itself has already succeeded. If so, how long do people have, once the mission has been activated, to contribute for commendations?
I notice the “complete set of core weapons” doesn’t include an underwater weapon. I assume this will be addressed at some point? With each weapon set being fairly closely tied to a legend, I’ll be curious to see what’s done when you’re limited to one or possibly two underwater weapons.
That did it! Thank you!
The Black Lion Weapon Specialist no longer seems to have the dialog when you have the ticket in your inventory. I’ve tried the ones in Lion’s Arch and the one on the air ship. Thank you.
Since the Tuesday patch my game has crashed 3 days in a row (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) at approximately the same time of day. It may be exactly the same time of day. I’ll test it tomorrow. It seems to crash at 5:10-5:12 PDT during the Tequatl fight. It only crashes once a day and only at that time. I’ll try to reproduce it tomorrow.
(Also, I wish it was easier to get back in the same instance if you crash. Missed two of those Teq rewards.)
So how will racial skills be adapted to the new system?
Racial skills have always been secondary in all but the rarest circumstances. How will they be merged into the new system?
For the sake of brevity, I will just add that the Stress Test was a lot of fun, but the UI for the mastery system is completely baffling. It feels like it should just be part of the hero screen. Took us a lot of poking around to finally figure it out as it didn’t match any other system in the game. Thanks for letting us enjoy the demo!
Do contents within a champ bag come from a container or a mob?
Champ bags are certainly a container. I can think of only three items in the game that really functionally represent mob loot: boxes of loot from PvP, bags of loot from the personal story/living story, and potentially the bags of loot from player kills in WvW.
The pvp reward boxes did not replace drops from mobs. They were there to offer rewards to PvP players. Rewards that didn’t exist before.
That’s true. Just functionally they are supposed to represent mob drops, which is functionally what the bags of loot are supposed to represent. And you’re right, magic find probably doesn’t affect bags of loot. The only reason I suspect it might is because they took loot that previously was affected by magic find and now it isn’t. If magic find does not affect bags of loot, it serves no purpose in the personal story or in the living world story, which seems a bit odd.
So I guess my question also serves as an argument in favor of a change in the system if it does not function that way already. I appreciate your thoughtful reply.
Ayrilana, this is true. But those champ bags are an additional loot drop from mobs. They are not intended to replace the loot drops from the mobs. Does that make sense? “Bags of Loot” are a bit different and didn’t exist until relatively recently in the game’s development. At least as far as PvE is concerned.
My question arises because loot was removed from mobs and added to bags after those comments were made by Isaiah Cartwright and after magic find was made account-bound. Astralporing, I believe it could be argued that they are in the same category as the PvP loot boxes since they serve the same purpose (replacing the loot drops from mobs.)
I could certainly see it going either way. I was just hoping for confirmation from a developer. It seems they have not commented on this yet. I do appreciate all your replies though. I certainly understand all that, but I think it still needs some official clarification.
Well, why do you say that, Inculpatus? Logically they should be affected based on the system they’ve established for PvP. If they aren’t affected, I think it’s an oversight, because that same loot used to be affected when it fell from mobs in those instances. Have they specifically stated that it isn’t, or are you basing that answer on the fact that they’ve only confirmed that magic find affects PvP loot boxes?
Bags of Loot were added in story instances to replace the loot dropped by mobs. They serve a similar purpose to the boxes of loot in PvP which are affected by magic find. Are Bags of Loot from story instances in PvE also affected by magic find?
Happy Holidays to you to.

Chris, you’re killing me. “Too.” “Too.” :-P
The problem with the Raiment of the Lich outfit is that it isn’t on the outfit panel. At least it isn’t until you buy it presumably, unlike the other outfits. I assume this is a bug,
Now that the patch is live, I was wondering: Can you please consider converting the tonics to outfits as well?
I agree! They are almost outfits already. The only thing they are lacking is the ability to use utility, healing, and elite skills. If we could just have these converted into outfits, I think a lot of the town clothes enthusiasts like myself would be mollified. Indeed, I would be very pleased! And it would allow us to dye them again. Kindly consider it. Thank you!
I find it very sad that an update designed to help us create more unique looks for our characters would also permanently remove so many looks that we’ve carefully crafted and refined for the past year and a half. Sad.
This decision needs to be revisited. “Outfits” that come as an unalterable set go against the entire design philosophy of the game, which is about customization and making your character look unique. And converting town clothes into tonics is even worse. These cannot even be modified with dyes. In a day with 95% good news, this was a bad solution to a design problem. I think most people would just agree that keeping the old town clothes system, with perhaps its own tab in the wardrobe, would be the best solution. Keep the outfits, town clothes, and toys in there. I know it’s much more complex than that, but I hope these complaints will be taken into consideration.
Mini Collectors deserve a response to this. I thought it would come yesterday, but so far I’ve seen nothing. If this is not going to be available in-game, they deserve to know that so they can give up on their goal of having a complete collection.
I have faith that ArenaNet will add Mr. Sparkles to the Gem Store, but they really need to stop abusing their mini collector fans. These are the folks who spend a lot of money on this game, and in my experience they are the ones contributing a lot to the community by being helpful, constructive, and friendly.
Foostivoo was their first strike. Having a mini be accessible only by RNG was not a customer-friendly thing to do. Then Liadri was VERY difficult for many players who may not like super-difficult content that requires precise play. Strike two. And now if Mr. Sparkles is available only at cons and by winning drawings, that will be the last straw for most of the mini collectors out there. And ANet will have lost some of their best and most loyal customers.
I’m hoping they do the right thing. And I’m hoping they stop making these sorts of decisions going forward.
Actually, you have access to (unlimited?) amount of storage space.
Character slots have no limit(iirc someone on forums mentioned having 40+ character slots and I’m myself running 25) and every backmule can provide up to 160 slots of inventory space (yeah, bit expensive to buy those backbag slot upgrades).
While this is certainly possible, it’s a very inelegant solution to a real problem that Arenanet is going to start facing. Like the OP, I cannot buy any more town clothing because I have no where to put it. I would like to buy one of the new animal hats, but I just can’t justify losing another bank slot. Going to the trouble of creating mule characters does not appeal to me whatsoever. I will just greatly curtail my purchases until a real solution is implemented. Ideally Arenanet would make the gem store clothing purchases unlocks like the Hall of Monuments items so I would never have to worry about losing or deleting the items I purchased. This would encourage me to buy a lot more from the gem store actually. Alternatively, a solution like a new collectibles tab or PvP locker would be fine. But I’m sure other players are starting to reach the limit of what they can hold as well, so this is just going to start losing Arenanet money if they don’t act soon.
Yes, I agree with Bragdras completely. This sickle is now worse than the normal ones in the game. You can’t break out of the animation and you have to wait for the second hit to harvest. If they don’t change it back to the way it was pre-patch, I think we have a legitimate reason to ask for a refund. If we have to have the mining animation, it should harvest on each hit and allow us to break at any time.
The patch notes say that you can win tonics in the crab toss game, but I haven’t seen any reports of this happening. Has anyone gotten one? (Note: I have seen potions drop there, but not tonics.)
My only real disappointment in the world events / living story so far is that the important NPCs in world seem to have no idea what’s happening. I would enjoy being able to visit the Captains’ Council, Queen Jennah, Knut Whitebear, etc and hear their take on the refugee situation, the consortium clashes in Southsun, and the upcoming dragon festival. Even if they just had a few lines of new dialog for each event it would help the world seem more alive. It would also give people a reason to visit them.
We always thought the minipets who glide through the water were cute and endearing. We already have a hard time keeping our minipets out as they get put away every time we down, change zone, or sneeze. Adding in another opportunity for them disappearing is sad for us mini-lovers. Let our minis go!! (And let them glide through the water like the graceful plush griffons that they are.)
If you are a member of a cross-server guild, do you get the personal reward while helping the guild with a mission that is not on your home server? If you cannot, is that intended or is it a bug?
Check the date/time on your computer and ensure it’s correct. That seems to be what’s causing the problem.
Yup. My clock was set one day ahead for whatever reason. Changing it to the correct date solved my problem as well.
You likely have the same problem that I and a few other people do. If so, it’s just a display issue. If you notice that your dailies don’t seem to match others’ around you, then you have this bug. If you ignore the ones displayed for you and do the ones that everyone else seems to have, you will get your daily. I’m in NA and I had “Veteran Kills” and “Crafter” for today’s daily, but they would never increment. Others didn’t have those, but had kill variety and healing. I was able to get my daily by doing those two instead. So I got my daily, but the display still says I have only 60% completion. Hope this all makes sense.
