Fort Aspenwood since BWE 3. Spirit of Faith (HOPE)
Well, I have not played GW2 since Nov. 13th, ( I had over 300 hours in it) but if GW had z axis and a trading post, it would be about perfect.
What did I miss?
Heroes.
Hard mode.
Dual professions.
Free travel.
Lvl cap @ 20.
Interesting storylines.
Easy to get BiS gear.
Loot that was worth something.
Gwen. (Kerian never got her in MY story.)
In GW2, Guild halls would be hard to implement due to the multi-guild system. Loot will not improve due to the cash-for-gems-for-gold system. (And I actually thought that was going to be a good idea…..) Heroes will require large instanced areas. (Not like that is a bad thing.)
I feel deceived and betrayed. I quit WoW about a year ago because I got totally sick of having to ‘work’ for the latest and greatest gear. I already work 8 – 10 hours a day, and I want to play for fun. After watching the Manifesto I thought I found the game for a working guy like myself, and went on to spend my gaming time in GW1, where I relearned how to play for fun and not for keeping up with max gear. I expected GW2 to be the same way. After reading and re-reading the official posts on this new gear, I was unable to enjoy the game last night and ended up back in GW1, where I will probably be playing until an MMO without increased stat progression comes out.
I got my $180 worth out of this game (ECE and $100 in gems for about 60 hours in the betas and 365 hours since headstart), so I will not be asking for a refund, but I expected to be here a lot longer.
A broken hearted ex-fan.
I like that idea gwawer. The hotjoin, random switch for balance, and other factors make spvp rather unfun. IMO. But what can you expect from the outfit that had ‘Random Arenas’ in GW1? 4v4 full random. winners stayed together for the next match- losers had to requeue for another totally random team. THAT sucked. The current gw2 system is better, but still sucks compared to WoWs random Battlegrounds (and Arena). (I will not play WoW anymore though, due to gear grind and scoring system.) I just wish they could keep the balance and equal gear that they (more or less) have, and have the format of WoWs pvp.
One of the things I liked about Yaks the last time Maguuma played them was that even in the face of utter defeat they just kept coming back. Darkhaven currently reminds me of old Yaks Bend. You can outsmart them and outplay them but it never seems to phase them. They keep coming back. I sometimes wish we had more players on Maguuma like that – who feel all they need to do is hold out until the tide turns – however long that takes.
It goes back to a brief conversation I had with a Tarnished Coast commander. He said that losing battles to Maguuma didn’t really phase him because he knew that all he had to do was to hold out till about 11:00pm CST and Maguuma’s numbers would drop precipitously. Since FA, Maguuma and Dragonbrand have played each other alot recently, theres something we can all take from this.
Theres a definite threshold – a time beyond which our player base falls off and all the other servers have to do is stay in a holding pattern until then, before rolling over us like an unstoppable wave. FA’s threshold was later than ours so they had the points over night. But I’m really curious to know how Yaks is doing what they are doing right now. I don’t recognize the server anymore. Its like they have become…HUGE?
Ya, I am in Mountain time zone, so I log in at about FAs peak and then get to watch it wane. It feels like Yaks has 24/7 coverage, at least enough to take the whole thing after we go to bed. But it is weird, that Yaks is (or seems to be) at full strength when we start back up in the late morning….. Basically, TC did the same thing to us.
Still, fighting when losing is much more interesting than being way ahead. I hardly played wvw at all last week when we were so far ahead. I hope the limited xfers will get things balanced soon.
FA certainly could use better inter-guild communication. Friday, several commanders were bickering in team chat like 6th graders.
Thank you very much.
FA and ET need to coordinate some stuff so we can do what the 2 of you did to FA on the ETBL Friday. (We got doubleteamed off the map, even with full cap.) If any ET leaders want to try to get somehting going, send me a mail ingame.
Hi, I know this is noobish, but I did try googling it. How do I edit my signature?
Thanks in advance.

Well, the fights last night were awesome. I wish all week could be like that, but the ‘only play if we are winning’ folks will not log in again until next Friday. I logged out at about 2:30 eastern, and had a feeling we would wake up to a blue map. Oh, well. At least our guild will have something to do in wvw during our events, as opposed to last week.
HOPE, FA
I agree also, even though the puzzles do give loot you can use in wvw. They are basically ‘off the map’ anyway, somehow the players there shouldn’t be counted toward the queue.
Better gone than broken. I think this will make wvw better.
FA, HOPE here. We (as a guild) had more fun last match when TC was owning us than this match. Last night we just went to the jumping puzzle because there was very little left to do. WvW needs major fixing. Hopefully, the 7 day xfers will be a good start.
I believe that is Ibluddgeon or something like that. Yes, he is good. We need more like him on 24/7
I love this game, and intend on being here for quite a while, but WvWvW is the endgame content for me and a lot of other folks. Currently, it is broken. Here are my suggested fixes:
1. Allow server transfers, but when a player xfers, they are ineligible to wvw for the current match and the next if it is within 3 days.
2. If a server owns no points on a map, they are allowed to build siege in their spawn area.
3. Owning orbs gives defensive bonuses (or the current outmanned buff) while not owning the orb in your borderland gives you offensive bonuses.
4. Point accumulation scales inversely with relative population.
Anyway, SOMETHING needs to be done soon!

I really don’t care if the player’s names are there or not, but it is nice to see the guild tags. Kind of like seeing what ‘company’ you are fighting in a war, without knowing the actual people.

Here is a post I put on another thread, and I might keep posting it until something happens:

As long as you play for fun, it is a fun game. Don’t expect it to make you happy for the rest of your life. It has it’s issues, but I enjoy it.
What we players need to remember is that our frustration is really with the broken mechanics that Anet hasn’t fixed yet. Don’t take it out on each other.
I know it is also a little absurd to create all-out world war and expect folks to act civil…
I enjoyed most of my time in wvw this week. Good luck to TC and DB in your next matchups!

The Spirit of Faith (HOPE) would be happy to further this purpose also. We are one of the larger guilds on FA, and trying to keep a good wvw presence up too.

Almost 35 SWM. I play for fun, and will be here a long time.
Because taking 8 minutes to kill a boss that gives a couple greens is not worth it to players that want xp and karma.
I know. It sucks.
I think you may be right. I played WoW for about 4 months of game time in 2011. It nearly ruined my game experience. When I quit, I tried going back to Morrowind and Oblivion, games that I had spent many hundreds of enjoyable hours in, and I found myself leveling as fast as possible and not enjoying at all. Then I found GW1 and began playing it. For fun. ( I got about 500 hrs in before GW2 came out) During that time, I got ‘de-toxed’ from what WoW had done to me, and it occurred to me that a gamer fresh from a WoW style game may not be able to enjoy a ‘play for fun’ kind of game.
Don’t get me wrong, GW2 is not the game they promised in the manifesto, but I knew that after the second BWE. It will still be my game of choice for a long time.
Hi,
I would like to suggest adding a mini game to a town. (Like Divinity’s Reach- such a gorgeous place, but no need to be there.) Something along the lines of Texas Hold’em poker, or some game of chance+skill that can be played by multiple players with in game gold. I envision walking into the ‘casino’, clicking on a chair (or ‘using’ a chair) at a table where I can see the players and either be zoned into an instance or simply have the game interface appear on my screen like a chat page. I think it would be fun, rewarding if you are lucky, and give the towns a little more exposure.
Well, I think standing in the spot near Bluevale Refuge in the Green borderlands that gives you the Invulnerable buff that the supply camp bosses have would be considered an exploit.
Yes, Guardians were that good until the Sunday patch.
Just adding my 2 copper here. I played a fair amount of GW1 last year, and the number of bots in the Jade Quarry battleground made playing that bg unfun. Sometimes out of the 16 player spots, only 4 were people. (Just being in a BG in GW1 usually netted a fair amount of gold via honor-zkeys.) I kindly assumed that Anet was too busy on GW2 to bother with the bots on GW1, but the number of uncontrolled bots in the new game leads me to believe otherwise. I intend to stick with this game, but it is very disturbing. Definitely not going to buy any more gems until it gets cleaner.

At lvl 80 you get ~350 karma/event. If you run event chains in Cursed shore, it racks up pretty fast. I have yet to be hit with DR, but I rarely do the same event twice in a playing session.
It is in Hoelbrok. Talk to a guy with flags over his head down beyond the statue of Jora.
Yep, thanks for making us wait to play until it was ready!
Actually, I am enjoying the game and will play it for a couple years, but there were a few times I was missing GW1…
